Pretty Little Liars dominated the airwaves throughout the 2010s and had fans young and old in a chokehold from Season 1 all the way to Season 7. The series follows a clique of teenage friends reeling from the death of their leader and best friend — Alison — who begin receiving threatening and cryptic messages from a stalker known only as A, who taunts them with secrets only Alison knows.
As the series progresses, a core group of characters emerges as they work to uncover the identity of A and put an end to their torment that begins with threats and then grows into shocking acts of terror that risk their lives. These characters vary in their impact on the series and their quality overall.
Updated on March 26th, 2024 by Fawzia Khan: Pretty Little Liars is just the right amount of murder, teen drama, mystery, and romance, which is why the show remains popular to date.

In every generation, there is a scream queen–an actress known for starring in horror films who comes to embody the genre landscape of her time. From Janet Leigh and her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Michelle Gellar to Maika Monroe, these women often originate a beloved character or star in a variety of cutting edge films, pushing the boundaries as cinema evolves.
The jury’s still out on which Gen Z actress will ascend to the scream queen throne, but Sydney Sweeney is making a strong case for her legacy. Though not exclusively known for horror, this versatile actress specializes in creating fearsome characters that break the mold set by her predecessors. With her wide eyes and angelic smile, Sweeney has a knack for luring us in with the perception of innocence only to shock us with a cutting remark or withering glare.

Sydney Sweeney’s career is on an upward trajectory, and she has quickly become a successful actress, establishing herself as someone to keep an eye out for. Sweeney has delivered back-to-back hits across platforms. From the Emmy award-winning show Euphoria to her recent film, Anyone But You, Sweeney has shown remarkable range as an actress. And now, with her new film Immaculate set to release soon, the star might just have another hit on her hands.
Sweeney has built up an impressive portfolio by starring in several popular shows and movies. She kicked off her career by acting in teen dramas such as Pretty Little Liars, but she truly grabbed the audience’s attention as the popular but problematic Cassie in Euphoria.
Sydney Sweeney has not limited her acting talents to just television shows, though. She was the star of Anyone But You, playing the lead alongside Glen Powell, and the movie was well-received.

Sydney Sweeney is the woman of the moment. Headlines do not seem to be getting enough of her just like her fans, whose over-enthusiasm is not the actress’ favorite thing at times. While Sweeney is best known for her character in Euphoria, she has recently taken the internet by storm with her movies Anyone but You and Madame Web. The latter of these is not the best project on her resume, but it definitely attracted a significant amount of attention.
Sydney Sweeney recently proved that she is not only a bold actress but also has a good sense of humor. She does not mind poking fun at herself or her recent appearance in Madame Web. She also put her Saturday Night Live monologue to good use by addressing some of the wild rumors about her on the internet.

The 2018 Blumhouse chiller “Truth or Dare” was a profitable hit for the company, making over $95 million worldwide on a $3.5 million budget. The film — about a demon named Calux that is activated by the titular party game — starred a buzzy cast full of young talent, including “Teen Wolf” lead Tyler Posey, “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale, Violett Beane, Landon Liboiron and Sam Lerner, who all bonded offscreen during filming. That camaraderie led to a sequel idea that could have been one of Blumhouse’s most innovative movies.
While talking about his upcoming film “Imaginary,” Jeff Wadlow, who directed “Truth or Dare” and co-wrote it with Michael Reisz, Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, revealed the ambitious plans for a sequel that almost started production during quarantine.

Sydney Sweeney is the woman of the moment. As is, the actress is never completely off the radar of the tabloids because of her performance as Cassie Howard in the popular HBO series- Euphoria. She has been recently making headlines for her performances in the rom-com- Anyone but You and the superhero film Madame Web, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
While Madame Web has not done particularly well with the audience or critics, Anyone but You has done much better in both of these aspects. Fans found Sydney Sweeney’s chemistry with Glen Powell extremely captivating. This brings fans to the question of which actor is next for Sweeney to start an on-screen romance with. While there is no confirmed answer to this question, Sweeney has someone in her mind that she would like to star alongside in a rom-com.

Part two of Good Trouble’s fifth and final season is currently airing on Freeform, followed by Part two of grown-ish‘s sixth and final season in the spring . When it ends, so will the presence of original scripted series on the Disney cable network.
Once a destination for pop culture defining YA series such as Pretty Little Liars, Freeform over the past few years has scaled back its original scripted fare, with no current shows and no major projects in the pipeline.
There have been a lot of questions lately about the viability of original scripted programming on ad-supported basic cable, with many networks pulling away from it due to high costs that are hard to sustain amid declining linear ratings and accelerated cord-cutting.

The Internet demands to know: did Sydney Sweeney fabricate parts of her inspiring backstory?
Let’s rewind. In November, the 26-year-old actress and budding producer graced the cover of Women’s Health to promote a starring role opposite Glen Powell in the romantic comedy Anyone But You. Writer Lindsay Geller recapped Sweeney’s humble beginnings as a teenager who made extra cash by babysitting, cleaning restaurant bathrooms and leading tours at Universal Studios to help her family pay the bills while she was trying to make it in Hollywood. “I watched my parents lose a lot. We filed for bankruptcy, and they lost their house back home on the lake,” she said. “We couldn’t afford life in L.A.”

TV plot twists that aren't planned ahead of time can feel cheap and leave dedicated viewers feeling unsatisfied. Unexpected plot twists can come out of left field and lack a solid foundation, like the ones in Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars. Some TV shows introduce plot twists that were not properly hinted at or developed, leaving viewers questioning if they were planned in advance.
Plot twists can make or break TV shows, and the well-executed ones often elevate their series and make them more memorable overall — but there are some massive TV turns that clearly weren't planned ahead of time. When TV shows include plot twists for the sake of shock value, it can feel cheap to dedicated viewers. This can make such developments memorable for the wrong reasons, landing them among the worst TV plot twists of all time.

Casting is a crucial aspect in creating a TV show, as an actor's ability to bring a character to life can significantly impact the success of the series. Occasionally, creative differences or a lack of audience connection may prompt the need to recast a character after the show has begun. Introducing a new actor to portray a character audiences have already started to know can have intriguing effects on the show's trajectory, for better or worse. Alloy Entertainment has long been the equivalent of a Queen Bee in the world of young adult TV and books. But big changes in the TV market in particular have driven the Warner Bros.-owned imprint to look beyond teens and twentysomethings for new audience cliques.
On the latest episode of Variety podcast “Strictly Business,” Alloy CEO Leslie Morgenstein, TV chief Gina Girolamo and film head Elysa Koplovitz Dutton discuss the company’s nontraditional approach to developing TV shows, movies and books. Alloy was built over the past 30-plus years on the success of YA book series such as “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gossip Girl.” But the demand curve has changed in recent years.
