After 2007’s Transformers became a huge box office hit, Hasbro would pull from another of their popular properties that also had a place in pop culture with an 80s cartoon — G.I. Joe. However, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra would not do the kind of numbers that Transformers had brought in, and the style was surprisingly geared more towards the Michael Bay film with some sci-fi twists rather than a more straight-forward military combat movie with colorfully eccentric characters. The sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, would offer more of what many would come to expect from the property and had actually become more successful commercially (mostly thanks to Dwayne Johnson‘s star power).
Then, 2021 saw a sort of prequel spin-off of one of the most popular characters from the franchise with the solo film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Henry Golding, who shot up to fame with the success of Crazy Rich Asians,...

For many older viewers, Jennifer Garner’s portrayal of Elektra holds a special place in their hearts, despite the flaws of her standalone movie. However, when Netflix produced Marvel shows, Elodie Yung won fans over with her portrayal of the youthful assassin and Daredevil’s love interest.
Now it’s confirmed that Garner will return as Elektra in the upcoming ‘Daredevil & Wolverine.’ With ‘Echo’ incorporating elements from the ‘Defenders’ storyline, fans are hopeful for Yung’s return as Elektra in the MCU. Yung herself acknowledged the constant inquiries about the role in an interview with toofab.
Oh my god, I would love that! My fans are like “Can you come back?” I’m like, ask Mr. Marvel. You have to ask Mr. Marvel… I would gladly replay this part, are you kidding? She’s so much fun!

For most of the older audiences, Jennifer Garner is the only live-action Elektra that they are emotionally tied to, no matter how bad her standalone movie was. But back when Netflix was making shows based on Marvel characters, Elodie Yung embodied the young assassin and Daredevil’s love interest and fans took quite a liking to her.
Now it’s been confirmed that Garner will reprise her role as Elektra in the upcoming ‘Daredevil & Wolverine,’ and since ‘Echo’ has canonized a good portion of the ‘Defenders’ saga plenty of fans have been hoping that Elodie Yung will make a return as Elektra in the MCU. In fact, Yung admitted as much herself, that she gets asked constantly about the role in her interview with toofab.

In the early 2000s, Amanda Bynes was the darling of teen comedies, starring alongside heartthrob Channing Tatum in the 2006 romantic comedy, She’s the Man. Yet, she has been out of the acting business for over a decade, which is difficult to believe. The Emma Stone-starring comedy flick Easy A, which came out in September 2010, was the She’s the Man star’s last acting role.
But in recent years, Bynes, 37, has been in the news more for her erratic behavior than her acting chops. Recently, fans have begun to express concern about her mental health after she announced a major career change.

Actor Marlon Wayans is known for his stand-up comedy and comedic roles in films such as White Chicks and the Scary Movie franchise. Though the actor has ventured into dramatic territory with films such as Requiem For A Dream he was mostly known for his comedic endeavors as he gained fame with his sitcom with brother Shawn Wayans, The Wayans Bros.
Wayans also starred in the 2009 action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The Stephen Sommers directorial was an adaptation of the popular comics of the same name and starred Channing Tatum and Wayans in lead roles. Due to Wayans’ reputation as a comic actor, fans were reportedly concerned that the film would not be a serious adaptation of the action comics.

Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon was canceled due to difficulty in writing the script and Dwayne Johnson's busy schedule. The franchise struggled to find a solid script after the success of the second movie, but it may have been for the best considering the lack of fanbase. Dwayne Johnson's recent projects have stuck to the familiar tone of the Journey movies, offering audiences similar all-ages adventures.
While the franchise appeared to be riding high after the success of the second movie, Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon was ultimately canceled and Journey 3 is officially not happening, The series launched with 2008’s Journey To The Center Of The Earth, which was based on the famous novel by Jules Verne and starred Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson. Reviewers found the movie gimmicky due to its use of 3D but it was a solid hit for the studio.

Hasbro introduced the world to G.I. Joe as a series of action figures in the '60s. Originally as 12-inch figures, the line was successful for the toy company. But when the line was relaunched in the early '80s as smaller-scale figures complete with accessories, such as vehicles and playsets, the whole enterprise really took off. It led to a series of Marvel Comics adaptations, animated shows, and yes, big-budget feature films.

What a difference a few days can make. Hollywood studios’ push to turn their streaming business profitable, the acceleration of cord-cutting, the writers and actors strikes, as well as a weak advertising market, have been at the forefront of investors’ minds all year. But just before the end of 2023, industry deal chatter has moved back into the spotlight with a vengeance, led by reports that Paramount Global parent National Amusements (Nai) could come into play.
The chatter, sparked by a Puck item, centers on whether Top Gun mogul David Ellison’s Skydance Media and private equity firm RedBird Capital are eyeing a run at Shari Redstone’s Nai and its controlling stake in Paramount Global, led by CEO Bob Bakish. A sale of Paramount, home to Paramount Studios, CBS, Showtime, MTV, Comedy Central, BET and Nickelodeon, could reshape the Hollywood landscape, as any ownership change may mean assets are reevaluated...

The live-action Transformers franchise has been building towards a crossover with G.I. Joe for 14 years, and it has finally come to fruition with the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The delay in making the crossover happened due to the fluctuating quality of Michael Bay's Transformers movies and the critical panning of the G.I. Joe films, which put a halt to Hasbro's plans. With the recent success of Bumblebee and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the Transformers franchise finally has a clearer direction, leading Paramount and Hasbro to finally make the long-awaited G.I. Joe crossover a reality.
Since 2009, the live-action Transformers franchise has been building to one crucial storytelling moment, an end goal that has been 14 years in the making for Paramount and Hasbro. Despite 2009 being the year this goal was formulated as the primary outcome for the studios responsible for the franchise, live-action Transformers began in 2007. Since then,...

The upcoming crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will differentiate itself from the previous 10 movies in the franchises. The crossover will take both franchises to outer space, a departure from their predominantly Earth-based settings in previous films. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has already set up the possibility of the crossover by introducing the idea of the Joes traveling off-world and planting the seeds for a space-faring mission to defeat the intergalactic villain Unicron.
The Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover teased with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts proves how the highly-anticipated unification of the franchises can differentiate itself from 10 prior movies. Since the live-action adaptations of Hasbro’s most popular franchises began, 10 movies have been constructed. The Transformers series began in 2007 and spawned four direct sequels in 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2017 respectively. Bill Skarsgård, Walton Goggins, David Tennant, Emilia Clarke, and Jeong Ji-hoon are fitting choices to portray Zartan, Dr. Mindbender, Destro, Baroness, and Storm Shadow respectively, while Oscar Isaac's charisma and versatility make him a great candidate for Cobra Commander.

Paramount's decision to incorporate G.I. Joe into the Transformers universe implies a full reset for the beloved team, requiring new casting choices to bring these characters to life. Alan Ritchson would be a charismatic and ideal choice to play Duke, the natural leader of the G.I. Joes, thanks to his demonstrated skills and on-screen presence. Joe Taslim is a perfect candidate to portray Snake Eyes, while Karen Gillan as Scarlett is another fantastic option.
The Hasbro Cinematic Universe needs a new G.I. Joe team after Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' crossover tease, and here are some casting suggestions for the main members. Paramount finally made a decision on how to continue the G.I. Joe franchise in 2023 after nearly a decade of uncertainty. The original franchise came to an end with G.I. The first "eureka moment" in recorded history occurred when Archimedes, upon immersing himself in a bathtub, finally understood the concept of water displacement. It was not a discovery per se (the phenomenon had been there every time he went for a soak), but, for whatever reason, this time the light went on, and my man allegedly streaked nude through the streets of Syracuse proclaiming his discovery.
Since then, the term "eureka moment" has been used to describe everything from mind-blowing scientific revelations to unearthing a motherlode of gold — epochal occasions for the planet or an individual. Something so wild you're compelled to yell some nonsense like "Eureka!"
I would not consider, "Hey, let's put G.I. Joe and the Transformers in the same movie" to be anywhere in the atom-splitting ballpark of a "eureka moment." Especially when your studio owns the rights to both franchises, and, well, every kid who...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts fulfills a 36-year dream by featuring a crossover between G.I. Joe and Transformers, just like the Marvel Comics limited series in 1986. Optimus Prime sacrifices himself by destroying the Transwarp Key to ensure Earth's safety, showing that humans are not as bad as the Autobots imagined. The G.I. Joe setup in the film's ending hints at exciting sequels, as the Maximals, Autobots, and G.I. Joe might join forces against a common threat like Unicron.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ G.I. Joe crossover twist finally fulfills a 36-year dream for the franchise. Set in 1994, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts features an all-out battle between Unicron's minions and the Autobots, who have been stranded on Earth since the events of 2018's Bumblebee. Two humans, Noah Diaz and Elena, also serve as allies for the Autobots as they help them with their globe-trotting quest of finding the Transwarp Key.

We now have to figure out the plot we want to do, etcetera, but they will be an active participant, if you would, a few of the characters, in trying to stop the bad guy."

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts marks the highly anticipated crossover between the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises. Michael Kelly plays the role of Agent Burke in the film, hinting at his continued presence in future installments. Agent Burke is an original character created for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but there are hints that his character may evolve into a more significant G.I. Joe character in the future.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ends with the game-changing revelation of a G.I. Joe crossover, yet who is Agent Burke, the man who recruited Anthony Ramos' Noah Diaz into the organization? Given that both G.I. Joe and Transformers are both toy lines originally produced by Hasbro, the concept of a crossover between the two franchises in live-action has been long considered, especially given the interactions between the two factions in the comics. This began with the release of G.I.

After years in development, Netflix has cancelled its live-action Masters of the Universe reboot. Based on Mattel’s line of He-Man toys, the first live-action Masters of the Universe movie was released in 1987 with Dolph Lundgren playing the muscular hero from Eternia. Plans for a fresh reboot date as far back as 2007, with the project passing through multiple hands and studios over the years. In early 2022, Netflix officially picked up the most recent iteration of the project from Sony, as The Lost City directors Adam and Aaron Nee signed to helm a script they co-wrote with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse scribe David Callaham.
Per Variety, Netflix has decided to discontinue their work on the reboot, despite reports that close to $30 million had already been spent on the movie’s development. While Netflix has not officially commented on the move, Mattel has confirmed that the film is no longer in development at Netflix.

Transformers: Rise of the Beast actor Michael Kelly opens up the surprising G.I. Joe crossover ending, explaining how the big screen crossover between Hasbro's popular brands came together. The seventh movie in the Transformers franchise, Rise of the Beasts continues the story established in Bumblebee's soft rebooted continuity, as the Autobots face new Cybertronian friends and foes alongside planet-devouring threats from across the stars. The G.I. Joe movie franchise was inspired by Hasbro's military sci-fi toyline, beginning with 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, before being followed by 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation and 2021's Snake Eyes.
Following the surprising debut of G.I Joe in Transformers: Rise of the Beast's final moments, Agent Burke actor Kelly spoke to Collider about how the crossover between two of Hasbro's most iconic franchises came to be. The actor revealed that while director Steve Caple Jr. was unsure whether they could legally use the G.

The universes of G.I. Joe and Transformers have a lot in common, especially when it comes to action figures. However, fans have tried to find many more connections over the years in the movies and series of both franchises, leading to a number of interesting theories.
One of them, perhaps the most popular, maintains that John Cena's character who appears in 2018's Bumblebee is actually Duke, one of the most popular action heroes in the G.I. Joe saga. Despite the fact that the character appears under the name of Jack Burns, many were convinced that they knew his true identity.
With Transformers: Rise of the Beasts approaching its premiere, the theories resurfaced but also the possibilities of debunking them. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed whether or not the fans were right:

With the two sharing a certain root connection, Lorenzo di Bonaventura assures John Cena's Bumblebee character is not G.I. Joe's Duke, but that isn't the end for the actor in the franchise. Cena starred in the Transformers soft reboot prequel as Jack Burns, an agent in Sector 7 who chased after the fan-favorite Autobot shortly after his arrival on Earth. The character won't be back for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but future plans for the franchise could see him return in a more unique fashion.
In honor of the movie's release, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with Lorenzo di Bonaventura to discuss Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. When asked about fan theories of Cena's Bumblebee character being that of G.I. Joe's Duke, di Bonaventura, the producer behind both movie franchises, shut down the idea, but is open to him being in the latter. See what the producer said below:

GI Joe began as a series of twelve-inch Hasbro action figures for boys representing the U.S. military in 1964 and went on to become a smash hit that's spanned nearly six decades. Rebranding in the early 1980s as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero saw the introduction of 3.75-inch action figures and military vehicles (in competition with Star Wars) and an exciting storyline that pitted the U.S. military against the terrorist organization known as Cobra. Inspiring a hit Saturday morning cartoon series, a twelve-year Marvel Comic book run and three live-action movies over the years, the Real American Hero and his brothers-in-arms made an impact on pop culture that won't soon be forgotten.
In 2009, the first live-action G.I. Joe movie, The Rise of Cobra, hit theaters, earning more than $302 million at the box office worldwide, and while that encouraged Paramount Pictures to produce two more films for the franchise...

Few actors are as skilled in making us hate their guts as Ray Stevenson. The late actor, who passed away at age 58, played some truly despicable bad guys in "Dexter," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," and of course, "Rrr," where he effortlessly captured everything wrong with the British Empire while also teaching audiences about the value of a bullet.
Stevenson found his way into the big two comic book franchises, playing both DC Comics' vigilante avenger Frank Castle in "Punisher War Zone," and Thor's faithful warrior friend Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also voiced Gar Saxon, one of the absolute worst Mandalorians ever, in both "Star Wars Rebels" and "The Clone Wars." Clan Saxon served House Vizsla, which caused endless pain and chaos to Mandalore during the war, and Stevenson's character was a commander in the Shadow Collective, a Sith order led by Darth Maul.

Not many actors could claim they had played multiple Marvel characters and Star Wars characters in addition to famous historical figures and the villain in one of the biggest Tollywood hits of all time, but Ray Stevenson was one of them. As first reported by Italian news outlets and later confirmed by The Wrap and Variety, the actor died today at the age of 58. Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Stevenson began acting in film and TV in the '90s. He would go on to become a bigger name thanks to his roles as Titus Pullo in the HBO series "Rome" and as Dagonet, one of Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, in Antoine Fuqua's 2004 period action-adventure movie "King Arthur."

Ray Stevenson, the burly British actor who starred as Volstagg in the Thor movies and as the brutally evil governor in the recent Oscar-winning Indian hit Rrr, has died. He was 58.
Stevenson died Sunday, four days shy of his birthday, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Hollywood Reporter. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota.
No other details of his death were immediately available.

For G.I. Joe fans of a certain age, Conrad S. Hauser, aka Duke, is the G.I. Joe. Among the first of Hasbro’s revamped mail-away action figures, the character was created in 1983 as a descendent of the original G.I. Joe dolls. He’s also frequently been situated as the lead G.I. Joe character in cartoon shows, comic books, and finally Hollywood action movies.
Which along with the profile of an actor like Channing Tatum is what makes the opening scenes of G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) so shocking. After leading the first film, 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Tatum’s square-jawed 1st Sgt. Duke begins the sequel as practically a second banana to newcomer Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson). Then at exactly the 20-minute mark, Duke is unceremoniously obliterated in a fiery explosion after being betrayed by no less than the President of the United States.

It's safe to say fans were stunned by the news that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would be returning to the Fast & Furious franchise. It's been spoiled that Fast X's post-credits scene has him rejoining the action, leaving diehards wondering how Johnson has moved past his very public spat with Vin Diesel. That said, avid loyalists are glad both alphas could set aside their differences for the good of the narrative.
After all, there's a lot of storytelling potential to mine with so many terrorist threats to come. Not to mention, with the franchise winding down à la Avengers: Endgame, it would feel incomplete without The Rock's Luke Hobbs helping save the world. However, with a new Fast & Furious trilogy in play, there have to be adjustments to how Hobbs is portrayed.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation uses several locations to tell the story of the Joes battling Cobra. As the second live-action G.I. Joe movie to hit the big screen, 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation picks up where 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra left off, with the sinister Cobra operative Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) having stealthily disguised himself as the American president. With Zartan using his power as President to mastermind the assassination of numerous G.I. Joes, including Duke (Channing Tatum), a group of surviving Joes led by Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson) band together to uncover Cobra's plot and stop the terrorist organization before it is too late.
Like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, G.I. Joe: Retaliation would see a mixed reception but would still emerge as a box office success in early 2013, with the story of Ray Park's Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun's Storm Shadow being a particularly praised highlight.
