Friends and a high school reunion and a cat lover.

I for one was swept away by last year's return and reboot of the classic "Fantasy Island" series and "FOX" gladly has returned it for a second season. And the first episode of season two was entertaining and interesting as "Tara and Jessica's High School Reunion/Cat Lady" was filled with funny and sentimental moments. Tara(Rachael Harris) and Jessica(Cheryl Hines) are both grown best friends who are tormented by their lackluster high school days of not being popular and it was a relieve to see them relive it over, yet also honest and truth revealing showing just how things were meant. The other story involving a woman and her cat was less interesting however in a subplot and wild card like moment is seeing Roarke expand her romance and relationship with the island bartender. Overall good opening episode with supporting turns from Harris and Hines which made the episode.

I'm sure it's great for some, but not for me

So season 1 had a couple moments that were good; however the majority of it was so far removed from any nostalgic tones from the original. The name of the show is the ONLY reason I watched season 1. If it had any other name, I would have gave up completely by season 1 episode 2 or 3. I was hopeful that season 2 might course correct but after 2 episodes in, z to chance of that. I am clearly not the demographic the show seeks. As almost nothing in n the show I have seen so far seems interesting or resemble the people I know in the real world.

I know many attack the show for "woke" themes but that isn't my complaint so much. I find an occasional look at various people and lifestyles interesting. But this show almost exclusively panders to experiences unique to women and LGBTQ+ rather than themes that are universal to everyone.

In saying this, if you are a woman or in the lgbtq+ community , you may really like this. It is a charming show, but the plots and characters are to unrelatable for me.

Beyond this, I don't favor the island mechanics. It has steered so far from the original that it doesn't have the charm I enjoyed as a kid. Not a terrible show, just not for me. I did however like the movie they made a year or two ago.
