Moving On

Saying goodbye to a whole bunch of characters you learnt to love episode after episode is never a nice thing to do. I already had experienced this when the unforgettable Generation 1 left, leaving many situations unresolved as in real life; then Generation 2 came, and even if in the first moments I didn't like the change, I accepted it little by little, step after step, until I started to care for these kids and to love them. Now it's difficult to realize this generations will be replaced by other kids (I think Karen or Mandy or Matt, Sophia's brother, are going to come back in the next season), and it's painful to watch an episode like this, maybe the most disappointing in this overall wonderful fourth series. The technical aspects were always good, and Lily Loveless had her moment of glory here - this girl has potential - but.. the episode left me quite cold. Many things weren't developed or explained well; the final was pointless. I save this for the soundtrack, for Pandora's singing scene and for Loveless' acting.

The Finale?

I felt like They decided not to release final episode(s) of season 4. It was a pretty standard Good episode, but as a finale, it sucked.

Surprisingly Undeveloped

Warning: Spoilers
This episode left me wondering if there was any chance that Freddy survived from the episode previous to this finale... Until we get to the end where by chance Cook finds Effy's Doctor pissing around during the party they were having in Freddy's absence. I guess it makes sense that realistically all of them probably wouldn't have ganged up on the doctor or something- and it's cool to see Cook showing so much care for Freddy that we can assume(?) Cook killed the Doctor out of rage for killing Freddy. Or at least maybe we can assume Cook attempted to do so and the doctor got found out after Effy continued to read the notebook later on- because all we know by what was shown in this episode is that Effy didn't get to the page where it showed where Freddy wrote the doctor is trying to "hurt her". I can appreciate the open ending that the writers were trying to do here, its risky and much different from the last gen & makes you think what could have happened. Either way I think they wanted to get across that this doctor guy wasn't going to get away with killing Freddy. So overall we know what happens to everyone except Effy, which I'm assuming she just gets help until she gets better and goes to another college. I know they follow up with her character later on in the series but idk. I'm curious to see how the 3rd gen is, from what I know it's basically reboot but idk. Even though this episode feels somewhat rushed I will say the past several episodes leading up to this were insanely deep and imo this season holds a special place in my heart right up there with the second season because of the risks it took but still kept things different without leaning on cliches or nostalgia for the past gen's sake. Season 3 was rough in patches but this season was so damn good in a lot of ways.

Feels like it's missing a second part

Warning: Spoilers
Most ends for the characters are great except for Freddie's death not feeling fully finished which is a huge disappointment for me since it was portrayed so well in the previous episode. When I say Freddie's death I mean the final scene with where cook is with John and whilst I like cook's last piece of dialogue it feels the cut to black was to sudden and if the credits didn't pop up I wouldn't be surprised if it was a scene transition.
