Near the end of the episode when Kenneth is packing his things, he is seen putting a picture frame into a box. The frame is a signed photo from Fred Allen dating to February 21, 1947, and the box is labeled "NBC Memories 1945-1967." This is another reference to the popular theory that Kenneth is immortal.
The book that Grizz is reading outside of Tracy's room is "Urban Fervor" by Kevin Grisham, the sequel to "The Rural Juror" that was featured in season one.
Near the beginning of the episode, Liz compares Jack's being an "old dad" to Tony Randall, the actor who played Felix Unger in The Odd Couple (1970-1975). Randall famously had two kids while in his 70s. Jack responds by saying that would make Liz Jack Klugman, the other half of The Odd Couple, who played Oscar Madison, a sportswriter who was unorganized and very messy.
Jack's recorded advice to his son is similar in delivery that given by Jor-El (Marlon Brando) to the infant Superman in Superman (1978).
