Very nice, enjoyable movie, with a great cast and acting, with the exception of the sick granpa. Jessica and Jesse were such a good fit, with chemistry, talent, great together, the ending a delight. Simplistic plot, story and writing, but came alive beautifully through the leads. Hope to see them together again in a more original one, with more singing from Jesse's part as well.

Nothing groundbreaking here but Jessica Lowndes is beautiful and talented. She really should be in better movies than this though. Jesse Metcalfe, who I've been a fan of for years , seemed miscast here. The rest of the cast were decent overall, but the actor playing the client needing music therapy because he couldn't speak was hilariously bad. I was laughing at his 'responses' and I don't think that was the intention!

The movie starts with fresh premises. A musical therapist is set to restore the speech of a stroke patient with her harmonies, while winning the heart of hie skeptical surgeon grandson. It mostly is a showcase of Jessica Lowndes as a singer and, indeed, she can sing, possibly better than she acts. The themes are not developed to their potential, the script lacks real warmth and originality, the musical therapy approach is rendered with poor credibility, and the chemistry between the lead characters is questionable. Jesse Metcalfe is unconvincing as a physician. The scene where he casually sets his stethoscope for a second on the lower anterior chest of his grandfather and, through a shirt and a heavy sweater, assesses his "congestion" is so totally idiotic that a five-year-old could have could have done it better. This example of disregard for details exposes the absence of care given to the production. Within these limitations, the film offers a few sweet moments and "Beautiful Dreamer" is done well enough to honor the memory of Stephen Foster. It is regrettable that it could have been so much better, with proper focus on the basic themes and attention to details.

I'm a board certified music therapist, specifically a neurologic music therapist trained in rehabilitation. The whole music therapy department at my hospital made a drinking game out of this movie with the amount of misrepresentation of our field that was depicted. Really wish the writers would've consulted a music therapist.... cause we're drunk.
Please know that clinical music therapy takes a degree, 1200 clinical hours of training, and passing a board certification exam.
Giving 2 stars because we had a fun time yelling at the TV together.

Acceptable "cookie-cutter romance"

Admittedly, I don't like either of the leads that much. That may have partially coloured my opinion. I have to say, however, they have good singing voices and that was a nice surprise.
Of course, the portrayal of therapy and that of a professional therapist is ludicrous. The first few "therapy sessions" were difficult to watch, for me. For a therapist, the woman was very impatient. Imagine any kind of rehabilitation therapist giving up that quickly on something that wasn't working. I would expect that, for the patient, it was very unsettling. Not to mention the absurd approach of the "assessment" session, family sitting in on sessions and even deciding what happens and when it should end or pause (?!). No way! All this is completely absurd.
She is promised graduation and a job if she heals the professor's brother, although her academic work is lacking. Really?! Finally, she moved in with the family, for 2 weeks, when she only had one session per day. She isn't a nanny or maid, it turns out that she lives within driving distance (since she went to help her friend with the flowers and got back afterwards with no problems. Why would she move in?!
Ignore everything that has to do with a professional person behaving professionally. Accept that this is just another one of the standard romances with absurd situations bringing people together in an unbelievable fashion, and you will be fine.
The singing is not all bad but the way it happens is kind of ridiculous, almost every time.
The final song, I wish it had been only the guy singing it, although I understand the idea behind the duet. But the way she sings, it's like she has some kind of attention deficit disorder. It is like she was singing something else, rock-and-roll, maybe. It is in total contradiction with what they are trying to accomplish and with the guy's nice and soft voice. It was frustrating if you wanted to enjoy the song. I would have believed it more if the "patient" got up, took the microphone out of her hand, beat her over the head with it, then sang the song himself.
Her best friend had some good moments but a lot of annoying ones, too. I wish they would stop with the "woman desperately looking for a man and making a fool of herself in the process" stereotype in these movies.
All-in-all, there are some good moments so it's not a complete waste of time, if you are in the mood for this kind of movie, especially if you like any of the leads, but skip cringe moments and totally suspend disbelief.

Definitely the perfect movie to watch on Valentine's Day Weekend! Jessica Lowndes is very talented and I loved seeing her story come to life. The entire cast was wonderful together (so glad to see Susan Hogan back on our TVs!) and Jesse Metcalfe and Jessica had a fantastic chemistry together-the singing together was the icing on the cake. Well done! This has been my favorite GAC Family movie, to-date.

Not sure what's wrong with the grandpa exactly? And a prof who makes up a project to "cure" her brother? Is that ethical? The grandpa really looks fine and this isn't a realistic movie at all. The grandma was annoying, if I was the grandpa I wouldn't want to speak either. Also what is wrong with Jesse? Sounds like he came back from the dentist or had a retainer on. Not sure what this doctor does all day but he seems to be a country singer like his other movie roles. The only medical thing he did in this whole movie was remove a splinter. Typically Jessica randomly starts singing in every movie she writes or produces but in this one there is a reason for her to sing for the earlier part of the movie. In the other parts the singing is unnecessary and the songs are way too long. JLo didn't even sing this much in her recent movie. I was also annoyed that she didn't have to write any paper in the end after she was told to do so several times. Guess profs just make up any grade? Overall this movie was a weird mess.

A fresh premise done in a fresh way and done well. This is what I've been waiting for from GACFamilyTV.
For a long time I didn't care for Jessica Lowndes, but recently she has grown on me and this movie makes me a fan. She writes the script, acts and sings including an original song she also wrote. Who cares if there might be a little self-interest in laying out a perfect movie for herself to act and sing. And she sings more than once. The finale is truly excellent.
Lowndes and Metcalfe click all the way through. Acting is good all around and I thought Susan Hogan did a nice job also.
For those who don't know, GACFamily broke away from Hallmark, reportedly with the idea of maintaining traditional values (my own words). They presented a Christmas lineup in 2021 which for me was pretty much the same old stuff and uninspiring, despite signing some veterans of Hallmark movies. I have been rooting for them to succeed, but the Christmas lineup seemed second class in more ways than one. I'm sure I'm a little overenthusiastic about this movie, but it is a sign of hope for future productions. Unfortunately, the path isn't necessarily all roses because this movie relied on some atypical things to make it stand out. Jessica Lowndes singing along with some of the other upbeat music is one of those things. Here's hoping.

Where was the Speech Therapist???

As a home health speech therapist, it is our goal to work with stroke patients to regain communication skills. Music therapy can be helpful as we access music from a different aspect of our brain than the language center, however, there is much more involved in regaining verbal communication..... I tried to watch but gave up after the first hour as this was so unrealistic. I don't think the writers understood anything about speech rehabilitation following a stroke.... The only positive was that both actors are gifted singers.

Love the fact that this movie is about music therapy and not your run of the mill Hallmark movie about saving a town or a Christmas or reconnecting with her ex! This is the type of movie you watch and feel good because it gives you hope. I have been through a life changing experience and music was the only thing that gives my life back.
Jessica is so talented! I love that she can sing, act, write songs and wrote an original script for a cute movie. Jessica sure did a great job with the casting. The storyline is great. It flows quite well throughout the movie. They just need a little work on the editing.
I would not listen to those naysayers criticizing this movie because is written by Jessica. If you want something that challenges your mind or intellect you would read an Umberto Eco book!
Love this movie I am all for supporting up and comer new screen play writer like Jessica.

This was by far the worst Valentines movie ever... actually one of the worst subscription/cable movies I have had to sit through. The premise had promise but the execution was excruciating. An ego project that should have been shelved.

It's such a heartwarming and incredible movie. It was such a pleasure to watch it. It has some special atmosphere around it. You're just so relaxed and enjoying this journey. Jesse and Jessica are just amazing together, they had a good chemistry.

This movie started off bad and just got worse. The opening credits scene was unprofessional and stupid looking. Gaudy, ugly chocolates and hearts everywhere? Why does every Hallmark-esque movie open with either an overhead shot of some downtown skyline or some really ugly decorations depicting a certain holiday? There has to be a better way to start a movie.
I realized with the word "harmony" in the title that this movie was about music, so I shouldn't have been surprised when the grandma started singing in the first 2 minutes, but it really seemed out of place and stupid.
And then reality went out the window. Jessica Lowndes plays a grad student who hasn't done any of her assignments/papers correctly. She has done them her own way. And yet she acts surprised when her professor tells her she probably won't pass? What does she expect?
She walks down the hallway humming to herself and pretending to play an instrument or conduct music as she goes. Music people do not act like idiots just because they work in a musical profession.
Then she gets to the hospital and she meets this doctor who acts like he has never heard of music therapy before. Has he been living under a rock? I'm sure he has worked with other music therapists. It is not a new science.
She discovers that her patient has been moved to home care so she walks up to the desk and asks for his home address and the receptionist just gives it to her. No questions asked. No credentials checked. That would never happen in a hospital.
This movie just got dumber and dumber. I had to stop because I realized if I continued I would be wasting the next hour and a half of my life.

The lack of chemistry, and mundane dialog drags the whole thing limping to the inevitable end.
Let's also not ignore the shameful lack of diversity.

Cheesy? Yes. Predictable? Yes. But we don't watch these kinds of movies for plot twists and unexpected endings. I think this movie served its purpose and was definitely cute enough for Valentines. No one watches these kind of feel good movies for the critical acclaim. Ignore the critics and give it a chance.

JessicaLowndes movies usually grow on me but this one isn't good from start to finish. Jesse metcalfe killed Chesapeake shores on leaving but this was his worst performance. I think it was the scrip5 was thin. Little passion, the supporting actors roles were so much better.
I will try again but this came off worse than a train wreck.
I really enjoy many hallmark type movies and I give some a slightly better review than others do but that being said anyone who gave this more than a 6 works on the movie or is related. I thought I was fair with a five even so it's a tough watch. I should have said 3 or 4

This was the best movie of the night. Had a great story, a great cast that had amazing chemistry and a great song. To the person who thinks GAC is stealing Hallmark actors. People are free to work for who that want and judging from the number of Hallmark actors making movies for GAC they must want to work there.

I love this actress (Jessica Lowndes - who also wrote it) and actor (Jesse Metcalfe) and was so hoping this movie was going to be great. It started out downright silly and went downhill from there. The script is something a 13 year old would write for English class and was one cliche after another. While the premise is interesting, it was poorly executed in this movie. I feel that GAC spent all its money stealing actors away from Hallmark and now have no idea how to run a channel. Grandpa's role is so understated, that he seemed more in a coma than suffering from a stroke. I really wanted to like this, but even my wife spent most of it laughing at how bad it was. I can't believe they released it as it clearly needed more work and one scene does not flow into the next.

This is a feel good movie for those who appreciate the power of music and who are in the mood for a charming Valentine's Day romance. The acting, writing, directing, and editing all are very professional, entertaining, and well executed. I applaud all involved with this production for creating such an endearing and positive film for this holiday! This is one that I could envision watching every February.

This movie does not accurately depict music therapy. Also it's music therapy instead of 'musical therapy'. I think the concept was great and set a light to music therapy profession, but maybe consulting a professional music therapist for better delivery. Music therapist also don't 'stay' at patient's house, it's a privacy violation.

Why does Jessica have to sing in every movie? This was a movie about music therapy, yet she was the only one who sang. Still confused about where the "therapy" came in. And if she couldn't do the assignments for her medical program, I doubt she would then be given an assignment one-on-one with a patient who is so important to her instructor. I would think the instructor would give the job to someone who is NOT failing out of the program. The whole storyline made no sense.
Jessica is still very wooden and her only expressions are happy and uncomfortable. She is a beautiful girl with no acting range. There was zero chemistry with Jesse, and even HE looked uncomfortable through most of his scenes in the movie. This was another dud. They need to spend some money on writers. So far, none of these actors can write anything better than a high school script with juvenile plot lines and obviously no research on the subject matter. It was a confusing mess that was just another vehicle for Jessica to sing throughout the movie. Ugh.

This was a good storyline. Cute with the added Valentine's themed shops & events. How many people actually get to celebrate their 50th anniversary?
Realistic or not, I thoroughly enjoyed the music therapy - and all of the music. Jessica Lowndes has an amazing voice.
Jesse Metcalfe was 'off' in this movie. His acting seemed 'forced'.
Overall, my husband and I BOTH enjoyed this movie. The GAC movies have actually become better than Hallmark.

I want you to imagine you're meeting someone for the first time. You find them attractive, but being above the age of fourteen, you've come to realize that looks are far from the most important thing in establishing a relationship with someone. You greet them in a friendly manner, and tell them about the single most important thing in your life, your greatest passion and joy. Now, how would you feel about this person if they immediately scoff at your interests, belittle them, and assert that THEIR way of doing things is intellectually and morally superior. You probably wouldn't have a very high opinion of this person, right.
Wrong! If you're this movie's protagonist, Violet, you fall desperately in love with the smug little sack of obnoxiousness.
Granted, Violet DOES act, at first, as if she dislikes the movie's love interest, Dr. Blake Williams (if you forget he's a doctor, don't worry - he'll remind you ever five freaking seconds; if you forget his name, meanwhile, remember you're watching a Hallmark movie, which limits the male love interest's name to either Luke, Blake, or Josh). And why shouldn't she? The dude is a textbook narcissist who loves himself like Kanye loves Kanye. He immediately disparages Violet's career in music therapy (or rather, Hallmark's version of music therapy - I think it's probably about as accurate as Disney's version of Pocahontas), and is generally just a jerk to her. I don't care how attractive you think a person is - if they're a jackass to you right out of the gate, they're not a suitable romantic partner.
Now, let's go back to our exercise in imagination for a moment. I want you to imagine you're in line at the grocery store. While waiting to purchase your goods, someone purposefully rams their shopping cart into you, curses you for being in their way, and throws tomatoes at you. Afterwards, you go home and tell your best friend about the encounter. How would you expect your friend to react? Outraged, right?
Wrong again! If you're Violet's best friend, Desiree, you think that the assailant sounds like a perfect match for your bestie. Violet tells her about how rudely Blake has been treating her, to which Desiree responds, "You seem to care an awful lot about what this Dr. Blake Williams thinks." ........ Huh? Let's back up and talk about Desiree for a second. The woman is borderline swooning on a twenty-four-hour basis. If she were a midwestern reptile, she'd be a horny toad. She thinks of nothing but an extremely unrealistic and unattainable version of romance every second of her existence. For example, when Violet tells her that she's going out of town, Deisree's immediate response is, "Ahh. Romantic getaway for one?" What the heck does THAT mean, you nitwit substitute for Belgian waffles? Take a cold shower, start collecting stamps, watch a documentary on Sumatran rhinos, SOMETHING other than obsessing over "romance."
Those are really my two biggest issues with this movie. It does, of course, have all the traditional Hallmark tropes. The girl and the guy don't like each other, but slowly they start to develop feelings for each other, because reasons (what those reasons are, I'm not sure; Blake is consistently a jerk to Violet throughout the movie). Jessica Lowndes sings a couple of times (because I'm pretty sure it's in her standard contract that she has to sing at least three times per film), and isn't terrible in the role of Violet (except that Violet is kind of an idiot). I won't spoil the plot for you. It's far from the worst Hallmark movie I've ever seen, but given the characters of Blake and Desiree, I have to give it a low score. She thinks of nothing but an extremely unrealistic and unattainable version of romance every second of her existence. For example, when Violet tells her that she's going out of town, Deisree's immediate response is, "Ahh. Romantic getaway for one?" What the heck does THAT mean, you nitwit substitute for Belgian waffles? Take a cold shower, start collecting stamps, watch a documentary on Sumatran rhinos, SOMETHING other than obsessing over "romance."
Those are really my two biggest issues with this movie. It does, of course, have all the traditional Hallmark tropes. The girl and the guy don't like each other, but slowly they start to develop feelings for each other, because reasons (what those reasons are, I'm not sure; Blake is consistently a jerk to Violet throughout the movie). Jessica Lowndes sings a couple of times (because I'm pretty sure it's in her standard contract that she has to sing at least three times per film), and isn't terrible in the role of Violet (except that Violet is kind of an idiot). I won't spoil the plot for you. It's far from the worst Hallmark movie I've ever seen, but given the characters of Blake and Desiree, I have to give it a low score. They're just completely insufferable throughout the movie.

I loved this movie. I thought the story was more interesting than the usual Hallmarky ones where the woman goes back home to her small town and hooks up with her ex.
This movie has a different, interesting, and moving story. I loved everything about it: the dialogs, the acting, setting, and of course the music.
Jessica is extremely talented and really deserves more recognition for her work. Jessie was a good casting choice. I loved it and would watch it again.
