The Hunt Is On, Big-Time!
ccthemovieman-119 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
"Dr. Ray Langston" (Laurence Fishburne) heads straight for Los Angeles after hearing his ex-wife, whom he still loves, has been kidnapped by Langston's nemesis "Nate Haskell." The wife's new husband also has been killed by the demented murderer.

Langston is there on a mission, it seems, rescue his "ex" and kill the murderer, anyway possible. He has murder in his heart, that's obvious. He also has made this so personal that he goes "rogue," which is absurd and annoying. In real life, this guy would taken off the case pronto! The story mainly involves the hunt by Langston, with aid from Nick and a few other CSI people from a distance, such as Doc Robbins. By learning Haskell's background, they hope to find the house he's hiding in. Heck, he could even be back in Las Vegas!

Not a bad story, but I'm beginning to be disgusted with "Ray Langston," although it's easy to understand his emotional ties to this story. Still, he loves his wife that much, why did they get divorced in the first place?

Haskell Leading a Charmed Life
Hitchcoc15 March 2021
Ray is on the move again. He butts heads with the LAPD by going rogue. He and Stokes are in pursuit, but Ray is determined to be the man. Haskell has hinted that the former wife is still alive and so Ray has hope. He is practically suicidal in his mission--out of control. He depends on the good nature of his colleagues to garner information. He confronts the newest Haskell wife and she is brutally tortured and murdered. He is suspected and Lady Heather's advice would indicate that there are no holds barred. Finally he makes a discovery that brings him back to the beginning. I thought this was a solid episode and quite exciting. I am tired of Haskell too and dismayed at how he ever got away, but I'm really interested to see how this is all resolved.

Episode 21 Cello and Goodbye

Warning: Spoilers
That character is a SPOILER! Just another biased ignorant critic. I enjoyed the surprise of a returning Tracee Ross, and for the show's sake, upping the stakes for the CSI team particularly Dr. Langston as he deals with the pain and prospect of possibly encountering his ex-wife on the worst day of her life--to coin a phrase, from Grissom. It's one thing to be empathic with a stranger's unfortunate or gruesome demise, but for the intrusion of pain from that death of a loved one, sears the images indelibly into one's psyche and ultimately test's the team's mettle when they deal with a colleague's pain. In the end, this suspenseful, precarious, predicament is forging their character in the crucible that is the pursuit of a devolving maniac, issuing crime scene after crime scene for further agonizing processing--if not for the team directly, certainly for the one who is imagining the worse for a loved one. These people are producing the best show on television, completely diverting me from some of my other favorites to ponder what will be next! People love this show and Dr. Langston has done his part! He's great!!! If you don't like it, DON'T WATCH IT! Don't mess with Morpheus!!!!

Welcome Home, Ray
claudio_carvalho4 November 2023
In Los Angeles, Phil and Gloria invite Nate Haskell and Tina Vincent to visit them at home. Out of the blue, the serial-killer kills Phil. On the next morning, his body is found in a dumpster and due to the modus operandi, Scientific Investigation Division (SID) agent Morgan Brody contacts LVPD to investigate a possible connection to the Haskell's case. Catherine and Langston travel to LA and Langston immediately recognizes Phil. They head to his apartment, but do not find Gloria; only lots of gore and broken furniture and decoration. Catherine dismisses Langston from the investigation and calls Sara to join her. But Lanston does not fly back to Las Vegas and stays in Los Angeles. He buys an untraceable gun and a laptop in a shop to hunt down Nate Haskell. Soon he finds Tina Vincent and argues her where Haskell is. When Tina's body is found by LAPD, Langston becomes the prime suspect.

"Cello and Goodbye" is a great episode of "CSI". Ray assumes the role of vigilante, trying to save his ex-wife Gloria. Good to see Nick supporting his colleague and friend in a difficult time. I bet he will kill Nate Haskell in the end of this Season after all the taunting and damages the serial-killer has inflicted to him and to several people. Looking forward to see the conclusion of this episode. My vote is eight.

Cello and Goodbye--I hope so!
mspeed446 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Another long boring episode of Ray Langston centered angst as he chases after Nate Haskell, taking Catherine with him to LA, where Nate has kidnapped Ray's ex-wife.

Nick and Sara arrive to help and a cute blonde SID (that's Scientific Investigation Division in LA) provides assistance. Catherine thinks she looks familiar--and wa-la--we learn she is Conrad Ecklie's daughter.

Ray "goes rogue" and disappears from his cop escort and hunts for Nate on his own. He calls Doc Robbins who clues Nick into Ray's plans. Sara, Catherine, and Brody (Conrad's daughter) sift around in blood--of course Brody is smarter than Catherine or Sara and its Brody who figures out the flies are putting blood on the wall. Sara has forgotten more than this kid has learned, but that's another story!!)

Ray manages to buy a gun, the LA cops do not like his disappearance act, but Ray manages to hunt down Nate and the current girlfriend. As if by magic, Nick arrives and figures out where Ray is staying. Nick and Ray chase Nate around and around (maybe the title should be "Here we go again").

Greg uses his history knowledge (and internet skills--is this guy a librarian?) to find a clue to Nate Haskell's background.

By now, everyone is chasing everyone else, Nate's girlfriend ends up dead and now the LA cops are after Ray for this killing! OH NO!! Again, Ray is one step ahead of everyone else but Nate, and he heads back to Vegas and the farm from last week where he finds Nate Haskell! AND it's a fight between the two as amazin' Ray fights for the life of his ex-wife!

This story is so old, confusing, has no logic, that it is a crime to call it CSI! I'm not interested in Ray's angst nor his love for his ex-wife who has moved on, and any case of an escaped serial killer crossing state lines would be all FBI--not CSI from Vegas--that just doesn't happen! Here's hoping Langston makes a permanent exit along with Haskell!
