Rockstar is arguably the defining studio of the last 20+ years of gaming. During that time, Rockstar essentially reshaped our collective idea of what a game could be by introducing millions to phrases like “open-world” and “sandbox” while continuously pushing the envelope in terms of mature content. Even after other developers started to make more “Rockstar-like” games, Rockstar found ways to raise the bar and show why they are one of the great blockbuster developers in gaming history.
While Rockstar’s library is defined by those open-world masterpieces, the studio’s catalog is much deeper and more interesting than it always gets credit for. Dig a little deeper into Rockstar’s history, and you’ll find a variety of games that have largely been forgotten. Though some deserve to be lost to time, others are begging to be rediscovered (or discovered) as they are absolutely worthy of that logo that we...

Prong have announced their 13th studio album, State of Emergency, arriving October 6th. Coinciding with the news, the thrash vets have dropped the single “Non-Existence.”
The track is apex Prong, holding to the band’s tried-and-true brand of grooved-out thrash. Tommy Victor’s guitar tone is steely, cutting through the mix, and there’s a pop-punkish bounce to the chord structures and shout-along vocals. For Victor, it harkens back to the band’s 1996 album Rude Awakening.
“‘Non-Existence,’ with its techno-style noise guitar that’s omnipresent on this album, is a bit like my retrospective glance at Rude Awakening,” he remarked in a press release.
Victor worked on the LP with producer Steve Evetts and sought to create a record that explored his varied taste in music while retaining the idiosyncrasies of the long-running project.
“It’s a very ‘Prong’ record,” Victor mused. “I think it’s totally genre-transcending and definitely...

When “Minari’s” Steven Yeun first saw Lee Issac Chung’s script for the film, the words deeply resonated with him. “It spoke very confidently and it didn’t need anything outside of it to justify the story,” he tells Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. “It was really about this family and their point of view.”
With the theme of family resilience at its core, the message of “Minari” has struck a chord with Academy voters, audiences and critics alike. The film received six Oscar nominations including acting nods for Yeun and Yuh-Jung Youn, with the latter hotly tipped to take home the prize for best supporting actress on Sunday night.
Variety’s Jazz Tangcay recently spoke to the two actors for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Listen below!

Sion Sono has lived many lives behind the camera. After several relentless decades spent churning out softcore pornos, demented J-horror classics, furious confrontations with post-Fukushima Japan, a hyper-violent rap opera about masculine fragility, one of the most unflinching serial killer dramas since “Vengeance Is Mine,” a four-hour epic about upskirt photographers (and death cults), an Amazon miniseries called “Tokyo Vampire Hotel,” and a few dozen other films that defy such easy description, the only thing less surprising than the massive heart attack that struck Sono in February 2019 — and literally killed him for an entire minute — is that it hasn’t slowed him down whatsoever.

Six months ago, Money Man had 400,000 Spotify monthly listeners. Now he’s at 4.9 million.
Much of that boost comes from the trap rapper’s Kobe Bryant tribute song “24,” which further soared in popularity after Lil Baby jumped on a remixed version in August. But that collaboration wasn’t just good fortune. It happened because Ghazi Shami, CEO and founder of indie music distribution company Empire — which started working with Money Man in March — slid into Lil Baby’s DMs.

So, comets hit L.A. and people begin turning into zombies. What? No, I’m serious. This is a movie about comets or meteorites or some such nonsense, hitting L.A. and turning people into… well, I guess compelling them to put zombie masks on, because you can see people’s faces underneath the makeup. In all seriousness, I had no idea what to expect from Disaster L.A.. The cover made it look like just another generic, poorly-done zombie movie, but the fact that it was being released by Warner Bros – albeit a straight-to-video release -, and the fact that I had friends assuring me that this one was different, meant that I would give it a chance. Zombie movies used to be my favorite sub-genre of horror, up until they became popular, and studios started exploiting that popularity to death. Lately, I try and steer clear of all-things-zombie,...
