Stomach-churning camera movement does not equal suspense
nikolausstuecklen-16 September 2010
Matt Damon is one of the finest actors of his generation. Unfortunately, in this film, he is once again paired with a director who follows the television commercial fad of herky-jerky camera movements, with constant zooming in-and-out, panning right-and-left, all at light-speed, and all of it meant to imply suspense or drama or "documentary", when in fact all it reveals is a director who is forced to rely on trickery and nausea-inducing camera motion to compensate for poor material. Matt, please pick a better script, and choose a director who is self-confident enough to stabilize the camera on a tripod so that we aren't taken on yet another corkscrew roller-coaster "action" movie.
