One thing that was so often overlooked in Westworld‘s blistering rise to prominence is the official soundtrack. Orchestrated by musical maestro Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim), the score was crafted with a blend of classical orchestra and electronica, peppered with dark, jarring covers of pop music from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Soundgarden and The Pixies.
Available to purchase and stream across all the usual platforms (read: Apple Music and Spotify), the Westworld soundtrack bundles together 34 tracks in total. From “House of the Rising Sun” to “Paint It Black,” those of you fully up-to-date with HBO’s sci-fi Western will appreciate how Djawadi’s score is able to transport you back to specific moments from the source material. That, and it will make the wait for Westworld‘s second season that little bit more bearable.

On paper, the idea of using instrumental, old-timey piano styled versions of popular songs in “Westworld” seems a bit cheeseball. However, like pretty much everything else in HBO‘s hit series, the idea worked pretty brilliantly in execution. And as you patiently wait for the second season to arrive in 2018, the full soundtrack has been released to kill at least some of that time.
All the tracks you heard in the show including jams from Radiohead (“No Surprises,” “Motion Picture Soundtrack,” “Fake Plastic Trees,” “Exit Music (For A Film)”), Soundgarden (“Black Hole Sun”), The Rolling Stones (“Paint It Black”) and more are here, along with Djawadi’s standard score work as well.

It's amazing what a difference a stripped-down "Honky-Tonk Women" makes.
There's a lot to recommend about The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America, Paul Dugdale's rock-doc-cum-tour-diary about the group's jaunt through Central and South America earlier this year and that that premiered last night at the Toronto Film Festival. Following Mick & Co. through 10 Latin American countries, it culminates in their historic first show ever in Cuba on March 25th; it would have taken place a few days earlier, were the gents not bumped by...

Here’s a first look at the brand new trailer for The Last Witch Hunter starring Vin Diesel, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Julie Engelbrecht, and Michael Caine.
This latest preview features a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” recorded by Ciara exclusively for the movie.
“I am honored to have been asked to cover such an iconic song by one of music’s greatest bands, the Rolling Stones, for the film. “Paint It Black” matches the film’s mystical and suspenseful plot perfectly. The film and song have the magical recipe that combines romanticism with a touch of black! I cannot wait to see and hear the film and the song on the big screen with the rest of the world” – Ciara

The Beatles’ first single, “Love Me Do,” was recorded 52 years ago today at Emi Studios on London’s Abbey Road. That day, Sept. 11, 1962, was the beginning of years of Ringo Starr’s coldness toward producer George Martin, and here’s why: On that first single — which hit No. 17 on British pop charts and later topped the U.S. charts — Starr was relegated to the tambourine. Martin had a session drummer play on the famed track. Other notable Sept. 11 happenings in pop culture history: • 1966: The Rolling Stones performed “Paint It Black,” “Lady Jane” and “Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby” on the season premiere of “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Guitarist Brian Jones wore a cast on his left hand, which he broke in a fall in Tangier. • 1974: The first episode of “Little House on the Prairie” aired on NBC. • 1977: The Atari 2600 video game console was released. • 1977: At the 29th Primetime Emmy Awards,...

London — The Rolling Stones returned to London's Hyde Park after 44 years with a concert that saluted both the band's past and the fleetingly idyllic English summer. Mick Jagger even donned a frock for the occasion.
The band played an outdoor gig for 65,000 people Saturday in the same venue as a landmark 1969 show performed two days after the death of founding member Brian Jones.
It's most often remembered for the vast crowd of more than 200,000, for Jagger quoting Percy Bysshe Shelley as eulogy to Jones – and for the white dress Jagger wore onstage.
Jagger took the stage in a similar white smock Saturday for a rendition of "Honky Tonk Women," a song the band also played in 1969.
"Just something I found in the back," he said.
Much else has changed since 1969. Then, the concert was free. On Saturday, some fans had paid 200 pounds ($300) a ticket. Jagger turns 70 this month, drummer Charlie Watts...

The Rolling Stones are reportedly not allowing the BBC to air their full Glastonbury performance.
According to The Independent, the broadcaster has held "top-level discussions" with Sir Mick Jagger after the 'Paint It Black' band only permitted their four opening songs at the festival to be shown on TV.
A source said: "Mick agreed to do Glastonbury for the fans who are there, he didn't sign up for a TV show. It's not about money. This show will go around the world.
"If there's torrential rain it will play havoc with their performance and they want to sound and look at their best. There's a lot of factors out of their control."
Meanwhile, the BBC's head of music television Mark Cooper added: "We are having an ongoing discussion with the Stones. I'm talking to Mick about it. At this point I'm quite optimistic we'll get a sufficient amount of music.

London — The verdict is in: The Rolling Stones are back. They may look old, but they still sound young.
That was the consensus Monday as Britain's rock critics responded to the Stones 50th anniversary bash Sunday night, the first of five shows to commemorate their half century of rhythm and blues-tinged rock. It was the band's first London performance in five years, and their own advancing years had led some to be skeptical that they could still perform at the highest level.
They were led by the seemingly ageless Mick Jagger, whose strutting style has not been dimmed, and backed by brilliant guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood and the energetic drumming of Charlie Watts, who is now past 70 but shows no sign of slowing down. There was a stunning guest appearance by former Stone Mick Taylor, who stole the show during a searing performance of "Midnight Rambler" and a...

London — The Rolling Stones made a triumphant return to the London stage on Sunday night in the first of five concerts to mark the 50th anniversary of their debut as an American-oriented blues band.
They showed no signs of wear and tear – except on their aging, heavily lined faces – as frontman Mick Jagger swaggered and strutted through a stellar two-and-a-half hour show. He looked remarkably trim and fit and was in top vocal form.
The Stones passed the half-century mark in style at the sometimes emotional gig that saw former bassist Bill Wyman and guitar master Mick Taylor join their old mates in front of a packed crowd at London's 02 Arena.
It was the first of five mega-shows to mark the passage of 50 years since the band first appeared in a small London pub determined to pay homage to the masters of American blues.

The American Idol Top 5 are singing two songs tonight, culled from the completely clear and specific theme of ”Now & Then,” with “Now” being music from, um, “now,” and “Then” being music from the 1960s. I do not envy the contestants their task in choosing songs from such a wide-open field of possibilities, especially now that they pretty much need to pull out a show-stopper every time in their ever-narrowing march to the Nokia Theatre. And speaking of “now,” now is the time for contestants like Lauren to blow us out of the water, and contestants like James to continue his momentum by making surprising choices.
