A quiet thriller with a blow torch to seal the romance
Reelvoice8 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Wow!!! What a fabulously bizarre little dime store romance novel spilling across the silver screen...and not a word said for thirteen (13) sexy suspenseful minutes. The setting is an isolated diner (The Kozy Cafe) in rural Southern Utah in 1966. A lonely waitress (Alexandra Smothers) wearing these real cool eyeglasses {of the era} cross paths with a wounded gunman (Dalin Christiansen) left for dead grasping a bag full of bloody money. This crossroads of two desperate souls ignites a flame cauterizing each others passion with a blow torch and steamy dance on a HOT noir moon lit summer night bringing their lust to a boil.

I saw this film at the Topanga Film Festival in August closing night after two hours of dialogue riddled short films when, Joe Osborn's silent master piece of story telling hit the screen finishing up the evening with a sardonic punch! The Cinematography and Art Direction really captured the period... This is an absolute MUST SEE on the short film festival circuit.

trip'n nior film with a riot 2 blocks away!!!

I watch this film last week at a Cast Party on Sunset Blvd. Met the filmmaker and one of his cast members thinking they're both pretty cool. Then after this nauseating live music (not that they sucked, just not my kind of music) this Joe guy stood on a chair and introduce his film. Because of helicopters hovering overhead dealing with a riot on Hollywood blvd. I thought, crap, we can't hear the movie! Then the opening credits started with the rumbling sound of a freight train passing and the film sucked me it. Holy Sh*t! That was 14 minutes? What a great movie and no dialog! That Smothers chic really delivered one quirky, bad-ass performance. Her co-star made it real and I left the place wanting more!
