More Than Diamonds Great family-content mystery!
iub1428 October 2010
Wonderful story, suspenseful, good comic relief. Wholesome. No bad language or censor-worthy scenes.

I won't give the plot away except to say it is a mystery; TOTALLY any-age appropriate. The plot/writing/acting carries the movie and neither the lack of "language" or lack of "sexual content" are missed.

I've seen it twice, once at the Premier. Loved it. Took my 14 year old niece who was on the edge of her seat during the suspenseful scenes, and she had good belly laughs during the comic scenes.

Refreshing to see actors that look like the cross-section of America, i.e. tall, short, slim, chubby, bald, blemished, pubescent boys with cracking voice; a true representation of real life.

I HIGHLY recommend More Than Diamonds. Watch it thru the end of the credits. The end isn't the end.

I don't know what constitutes a '10' rating, but this comes as close as anything I've seen in a LONG time.

More Than Diamonds is definitely worth having in your DVD library. Can't wait til it comes out in DVD!

Best Family Movie in Years!
pilgrimsouthcarolina1 November 2010
I can't remember the last time I saw a "Family" movie that was so well done and so well received. The audience applauded every time we saw it! We have seen it 7 or 8 times, so many that I can't remember. The story line keeps you with it, the local Greenville S.C. scenery is great and the local actors did a terrific job! You really feel like you are right there with them! Movies do not have to cost millions and be filled with garbage! This one proves that! No bad language! Nothing that your children would not delight in. Every "family" looking for a good "family" movie ought to see this one! Take your whole family, your neighbors and everyone you know! You will enjoy More Than Diamonds!

If you want a movie you can watch with your Mother, Wife and Children at the same time, the list is short and More Than Diamonds is on the top!

What a fantastic story!!! You won't find anything so wholesome coming out of Hollywood, not even from Disney...I dare you to try! More Than Diamonds shows us an average family, in tons of debt, and things keep getting darker until Adventure invites the children for a game. They must risk everything they have left to be Heroes, overcome the Villain, rescue the Princess...well just plain survive, all the while trying to recover a priceless treasure (and I'm not talking about Diamonds). Leaving the Postmodern trash of Existentialism, Sentimentalism, and Nihilism for the boys in Hollywood, Grant Skellenger offers hope by reminding us who we are and dares us to be more, showing us how! If you want a movie you can watch with your Mother, Wife and Children at the same time, the list is short and More Than Diamonds is on the top!

Excellent family movie
buginit18 April 2011
This was a great family movie with no drugs, sex or violence as is seen in most of today's movies! The story line was easy and clear to follow, but provided just enough action and suspense to keep you tuned in. More Than Diamonds was a very wholesome, thought out and executed story. This movie was enjoyable to watch from beginning to end. This is not a big Hollywood production with a huge budget, but was nicely done on location in SC. The actors seemed to interact well together as they bring about a very believable climatic plot. A great movie on how to deal with real life situations and the impact family members and their actions have on one another. A must see for all families, but especially helpful to families with broken relationships.

Great family film!
bcsloan28 March 2011
This film is a very well done family film with compelling story line. It had enjoyable characters with which you could identify. There were some very funny moments that my friends and I talked about later and enjoyed over and over again. I was greatly surprised by the discovery of the villain of the movie. He was such a likable character that drew you in at first. I found myself excited about the relationship building with him and the leading lady, only to be greatly surprised later by the low life he turned out to be. That was a very effective plot twist! I loved the angst of the son toward the end of the movie when his sister was in trouble in the water and he finally realized his fear had to be overcome to save his sister. I saw the film twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times!

Who says good movies have to come from Hollywood?
jeffpetric27 March 2011
Great movie, you WILL laugh, cry, fear, hope, and thoroughly enjoy this movie. And without all the unnecessary Hollywood additives. Can't wait for the sequel. I enjoyed watching actors and actresses that I haven't seen before in 18 other movies, all playing the same parts . . . again. It is a locally produced movie, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the photography, sound and music. This movie demonstrates that it doesn't take millions of dollars and huge computer generated graphics to make a good movie, and I like movies that have all the graphics. This is a throw back to when movies depended on good acting, a good story line, and clever photography. It is well done, and very tasteful. Everyone will enjoy this movie no matter what age. Great job.

This movie is More Than Diamonds
authorbobbyd12 November 2010
The plot is all about teenager thoughts and quests. The actors are all professionals and dedicated to making this a great movie. The movie is all about diamonds, thieves, and a single mother in trouble but more than that, it is about family, how family comes first, always. Yes, this is a great family flick and again, it is More Than Diamonds, it's about family and how we all need to reconnect with our own families. Skellenger does an amazing job his first time out and will be a contender in all that he surveys. He's a keeper. This movie has it all, action, adventure, comedy, and the sweetest cast you will ever see in the cinema. I recommend this film for all ages from three to infinity.

Fun family movie!
5glass25 March 2011
I took my 12 year old son to see this movie with me. We were both pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed it. It has true-to-life characters in a true-to-life predicament. It has humor, suspense, and great messages. It can be enjoyed by viewers of any age. The "bad guy" is a convincing bad guy. He adds a lot of suspense to the film. The siblings are convincing perhaps because they are real life siblings, and they did a great job! The film has messages of good family values, even in very difficult circumstances. The way the family works together during these circumstances is perhaps the best part of the film. I highly recommend it!

good stuff
ErinRebecca421 July 2011
so it's the morning after watching More Than Diamonds and my boys (who are 6 and 7) came in the room and the oldest boy, Jo-Jo said, "My favorite thing about that movie was that I learned you don't have to be a hero like superman or spiderman or even batman and green lantern (of whom i know not) to be a hero to your friends and sister or brother or mom" Then he added, "you don't even need to have big muscles" "you just have to be brave and believe that you can do it and know that you have Help even when your mommy and daddy aren't there beside you, even if it's harder than you think." Huddy, the younger one, said, "Yeah, I like Alexander and well...the old lady with the gun" Jo said "yeah, me too" "and you can even drive a car when you're young." Jo asked later today "Is there a number two?" Thanks for making this movie and teaching my spiderman and batman loving men something important.

And make some more movies :)

Excellent Family Movie
keatons4425 July 2011
This is a movie that adults and older kids alike will enjoy. I'd recommend it for 8 and up (just because I don't think it would hold the interest of younger ones). Hollywood seems to think that a movie has to contain sexually explicit dialogue, partial nudity, potty humor, and foul language to be a success. Mainstreet America knows that this isn't the case, and this movie is a wonderful example of the kind of family-friendly fare--while maintaining quality production values--that is out there. The storyline is excellent, the child actors are superb, and the overall quality is far above what you'd expect from a local independent film. It's a family favorite.

Family Friendly Thriller
heartwofour26 July 2011
If you want a little adventure, some twists and turns, and suspense without someone cursing a blue-streak throughout the movie; then More Than Diamonds may be your movie. Lots of good life lessons and a good opportunity for some family discussions about what's really of value. And, they managed to do it all without being too preachy. Although adults will enjoy the story, this is a great movie for kids. And, the kids in this movie are the real stars. They were believable in their roles and held their own against the other veteran actors in the movie. It's a little bit Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys all rolled into one. I can't wait to see what this director does next.

Awesome plot, music and today's needs for living LIFE!
jim-116-80404925 July 2011
Now, there's a movie (this movie) to inspire everyone regardless of financial success or lowest depression. It is a "must see." The plot, the in-depth soul-searching relevance, and the music is so, so powerful. The incredible attribute about this movie is, it's appropriate for anyone of any age! Thanks Mr. Skellenger and everyone else that made this movie the best yet. It's only a matter of time before people who see this movie will experience POSITIVE life changing effects. There is a HERO, a young hero that will stir your heart. There is fear, challenge and resolve! I've already had others see this movie with me and found out (confirmed) that adults and children love it just as much as I do. God bless you all!!!
