After three previous tries, the San Francisco Giants finally won their first World Series after moving to San Francisco in 1958. Their last previous World Championship came in 1954 when the franchise was still located in New York their second World Series appearance under the name San Francisco Giants was 2002 but lost to the Angels in seven games.
With their Series win in 2010, the Giants became only the second professional sports franchise to win a World Championship in three different centuries (19th, 20th, 21st). The St. Louis Cardinals are the other.
