The hotly anticipated sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is bringing back one of the franchise's most-beloved characters.
In a newly-released featurette – which drops quite a few tantalizing hints and exciting teases regarding the upcoming dino-fighting epic – fans get a sneak peek at the return of Jeff Goldblum's iconic scientist-turned-reluctant adventurer, Ian Malcolm.
While the glimpse at Goldblum is brief, it's endlessly exciting for fans of the original Jurassic Park and its sequel, who have been dying to see the celebrated character come back to the franchise.
The good doctor has clearly aged well and matured since we last saw him chasing a T-Rex through the streets of San Diego in the action-packed 1997 Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. He's traded in his black leather jacket for a crisp black suit, and he's grown out his salt-and-pepper beard, giving him the look of a distinguished professor.

A group of women created a powerful photo series that has them literally crossing out the names they’ve been called — with a bit of glitter.
Abigail Spencer and Meg Bishop of Salt and Light Photography in Grants Pass, Oregon organized the “Don’t Label Me” project to help women reclaim power over their bodies.
They photographed a diverse group of seven women, each with their own unique story and struggles. Each model wrote words they’ve been called — such as “useless,” “cripple,” “fat,” or “crazy” — on their skin.

When Kip Moore released his debut album, Up All Night, in 2012, it was a success almost out of the gate. With hits like “Something ‘Bout a Truck,’ which Moore’s sexy, raspy delivery managed to elevate out of country’s truck rut, “Hey Pretty Girl” and “Beer Money,” the album put the Tifton, Georgia, native in the spotlight. But despite critical kudos, his sonically ambitious second album Wild Ones underperformed, and suddenly the town that hailed him as a new original voice got busy writing his swan song. It was, Moore tells People, “a kick in the teeth.”

Looking back, says Simon Baker, the whole idea was absurd.
“What was I thinking?” jokes Baker, recalling the decision to make his directorial debut with Breath, which premieres in Toronto. The film, which Embankment is selling worldwide, is an adaptation of the 2008 novel by Tim Winton, a coming-of-age tale about teen surfers in 1970s Australia. The movie stars two non-actors in the lead roles, and Baker shot the whole thing in six weeks, mainly on location on Australia’s west coast.

Annabelle: Creation heads into theaters nationwide today. It serves as the origin story on how the Annabelle is first created for The Conjuring universe.
The film stars Stephanie Sigman (Miss Bala), Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings), Lulu Wilson (Ouija: Origin of Evil), Anthony Lapaglia (Without A Trace), Talitha Bateman (The 5th Wave) and Alicia Vela-Bailey (Lights Out). It’s directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out).
We managed to catch actress Stephanie Sigman over the phone for the busy promotion for Annabelle: Creation. She told us about the lure of playing a nun character, which is quite different from playing a Bond girl on Spectre or a pageant model turned drug dealer in Miss Bala. She also discussed her personal beliefs in the supernatural and admitted that it was her who asked for the set to be blessed from evil.

In 2009, Erica Sokol was a University of Florida freshman volunteering on the pediatric floor of a local hospital. She spent most of her time playing with the kids, many of whom had cancer. But with not enough volunteers to go around, she noticed that most of the children were by themselves, without a buddy like her.
“I wanted to help the kids so they didn’t have to go through this alone,” Sokol, 27, of Philadelphia, recalls. “I thought, ‘Here I am on a campus with all these students who want to help. How could I bring the two together?’ “

Troian Bellisario is opening up about her struggle with mental illness. In an essay for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter published on Tuesday, July 18, the Pretty Little Liars star, 31, is candid about her struggle and eating disorder.
"Here I am, 31 years old," the actress wrote while recalling a time she was swimming in freezing cold water. "And I'm still denying my body the one thing it is asking me to do: take care of it."
The CW star explained that her struggle was between her body wanting to be removed from the cold water, and her brain telling her to not be weak.
"There is a part of my brain that defies logic. Once, it completely convinced me I should live off 300 calories a day, and at some point, it told me even that was too much,...

Troian Bellisario isn't holding back her experiences with mental illness. The Pretty Little Liars actress took to Lenny Letter, a feminist newsletter run by Lena Dunham and Jennifer Konner, to pen a personal essay about her battles with mental health. She set the scene with a description of her swimming with a friend in extremely cold water, expressing how the freezing lake brought numbness and discomfort to her body, but she couldn't remove herself from the water. She goes on to explain the juxtaposition between her body displaying its need to be removed from the cold, and her mental illness telling her to not disappoint or look weak in front of her friend. "Here I am, 31 years old," the...

Switzerland – Of all the breathless hype that comes with each new James Bond movie, the man who played Bond the longest (and in the most films) is often forgotten. Sir Roger Moore – he was knighted for his charity work – portrayed Bond from 1972 to 1985, and died in Switzerland on May 22, 2017. He was 89.
The roguish Moore portrayed Britain’s most famous spy with a air of sophistication and humor, eschewing the harder edge that the first Bond, Sean Connery, had established. From the first film, “Live and Let Die” (1972) to 13 years later with “A View to a Kill,” Moore defined Bond for a generation of 1970s and ‘80s filmgoers. He had been an established British TV actor before taking on his most famous role, and even made inroads in America on the popular series “Maverick” in 1960.

Miley Cyrus recently released "Malibu," her first musical offering since 2015, and the song is very clearly about her on-again fiancé Liam Hemsworth. Lyrics like "I never came to the beach, or stood by the ocean / I never sat by the shore, under the sun with my feet in the sand / But you brought me here and I'm happy that you did" reference their meeting on the 2010 movie The Last Song (which was set on the beach), and "I'd spent the rest of my life standing here talking / You would explain the current, as I try to smile" alluding to Liam being an avid surfer. The couple currently lives together in the California beach town, so "Here I am, next to you / The sky's more blue in Malibu" paints a pretty picture of their life since rekindling their romance in early 2016. In honor of the song (which we've had on repeat...

Dubbed a millennial’s answer to Sex and the City when it premiered, Girls proved itself to be much more than that. Created by Lena Dunham, the show started out as a spotlight on a group of 20-something women -- Hannah (Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) -- who were as lost as they were indignant about perceived notions of what it means to be an adult, with Hannah proclaiming herself to be a voice of a generation in the pilot episode.
Over the course of six seasons and 62 episodes, the HBO series expanded its world to include as many men -- Adam (Adam Driver), Ray (Alex Karpovsky), Elijah (Andrew Rannells) and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) -- as there were women while addressing issues of adulthood, addiction, rape, sexism and idealism.

Another day, another attack against movie-review-mecca Rotten Tomatoes. “The death of cinema and film criticism,” some say. Those who believe such doomsday speak view the website as judge, jury and executioner; one that keeps audiences at home when movies fail the Tomatometer test. But is this solely the fault of Rotten Tomatoes? Do these angry congregations have a right to be seeing red? Is Rotten Tomatoes still a certified-fresh hub for critical discourse? “No,” “yes” and “it can be” – but first, a brief introduction.

Hello Lrm readers! It's been too long. I've been just fine, thank you for asking. I had the pleasure of attending New York Comic-Con earlier this month. As you've heard reported, the weekend was filled with cosplay, Vr, chili dogs, and a lot of entertaining exhibits. So, let's go through some highlights of walking around and exploring #Nycc 2016! I kept most of these videos under one minute since I know how short attention spans have become.
Here I am, arriving at Nycc
There were people, so shouted into their ears while they attempted to concentrate.

With all the Callie/Sofia drama behind her, Arizona burst back onto the scene in Thursday’s Grey’s Anatomy with a spring in her step and a big, beaming smile on her face. Her grin was temporarily turned upside down when she caught a first-hand glimpse of Andrew’s busted-up face, but the fact remains: This season, Arizona is back to being, well, Arizona.

Lynn Hartman wanted nothing to do with Steven Avery. The 53-year-old Las Vegas legal secretary was divorcing a 30-year-veteran law enforcement officer when her daughter, Kamilia, suggested she stop sulking and watch Making a Murderer - the Netflix series about Avery's 2005 conviction for the murder of 25-year-old Wisconsin photographer Teresa Halbach. "At first, I wasn't interested because I was a Nancy Grace fan, and I believed what she said about the case," Hartman tells People. "So my answer to my daughter was, 'I don't want to watch it - I already know [Avery's] guilty.' " Eventually Hartman caved, coming around on his innocence - and him.

If you haven’t thought of “Monkeybone” in a while, allow Rose McGowan to refresh your memory — and reveal the movie it could have been. The actress, who co-starred in the fantastical 2001 comedy alongside Brendan Fraser and a slew others, took to Instagram to describe how the critical and financial failure could have been something else entirely had its original director not been fired.

“The movie would’ve been incredible (at least the underworld part) if the men at 20th Century Fox (the suits) hadn’t fired the director, a true artist, Henry Selick 1/2 the way through filming,” she says, calling his dismissal a “profoundly stupid move.” She notes that Selick had already directed “James and the Giant Peach” and later went on to make “Coraline,” both of which she calls “tremendous pieces of work.

Rhys Darby is keeping busy. When IndieWire got the New Zealander on the phone, he was in Vancouver filming an unspecified role in the upcoming series adaptation of “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” It was a project he described as “amazing,” even compared to other large-scale productions he’s been a part of, like the recent revival of “The X-Files.”

Filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra earned my eternal vote of confidence after The Shallows, because he did the unthinkable – he got me to care about a shark thriller constructed almost entirely with computer graphics. The tropical paradise is mostly fake. The shark is totally fake. Blake Lively…kidding – she’s real, and she Kills It – but you catch my drift. Here I am, an advocate of practical effects in almost all my horror reviews, yet I’m left shocked senseless by a digital shark that’s worth every audible gasp.
The Shallows is a bit of white-knuckled underwater terror, brought to life by director Jaume Collet-Serra and writer Anthony Jaswinski. Blake Lively may not look like a fighter, but there’s an undeniable star-power she brings to her rock-perched lone survivor – and tremendous strength to boot. You’ll never be bored – between gorgeous scenic shots and Lively’s ferocious fight for survival – and more importantly,...

Eat That Question: Frank Zappa In His Own Words takes its title from a song found on the composer’s 1972 fusion album The Grand Wazoo, and there may be no better preparation for the Frank Zappa revealed in director Thorston Schutte’s extraordinary documentary than this command to consume, and then presumably digest and defecate out, the sort of journalistic queries Zappa routinely endured, with patience, smarts and inescapable sarcasm, throughout his career. “Being interviewed is one of the most abnormal things that you can do to somebody,” Zappa explains during a TV interview to a reporter whose expression, an uneasy mixture of intimidation and confusion, remains constant throughout their encounter.
The composer’s testy relationship with the media is one of the threads that unites Schutte’s somewhat unusual approach—there are none of the usual associates, scholars and friends on hand to tell you secondhand (at best) what a genius Zappa was,...
