The cast of Daisy Jones & The Six were set to take the stage once again according to series star Suki Waterhouse.
Waterhouse shared in a YouTube vlog on Thursday from the 2023 Lollapalooza festival that she along with the cast, which also included Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon and Will Harrison, were supposed to perform at the Chicago-based music festival last summer.
“That whole thing was planned, we got people visas, like, it was an operation. And then the SAG strike happened, so we all decided that we should not perform at Lollapalooza,” the actress and singer recalled. Amid the strike, guidelines stated that the union’s affected members would be prohibited from all principal on-camera work — including acting, singing, dancing and stunts — on top of off-camera work, such as voice-acting and narration. All promotional activity such as interviews, award shows and podcasts were also not allowed by union members at the time.

From nuns and handmaids to webslingers and oversexualized teens, Sydney Sweeney has done a fantastic job in her decade and a half of acting.
While she has been dubbed a sex symbol, that title doesn't even begin to define the actress's range of skill when it comes to dramatic roles.
Having amassed 22 awards nominations and securing three wins, primarily for her breakout role in Euphoria, the actress has become a mainstay in the entertainment industry.
Though she's been acting since 2009, it wasn't until recently that she started blowing up the news circuits with her career-defining performances.
One thing that can be said about the actress is that she takes every opportunity to elevate her characters as far as possible.
Here, we've assembled a set of Sweeney's most notable television and film roles. From comedy to horror to gritty drama, the actress is not limiting her role choices.

This article contains spoilers for My Hero Academia season 7 episode 1.
My Hero Academia is an entertaining shonen anime that cleverly riffs on the superhero genre. This means that epic superpowered showdowns are par for the course where grandiose villains threaten to reshape the world through malevolent means. However, the anime’s most recent storyline that concludes season 6 and kicks off the seventh season descends hero society into all-out war. All For One, society’s most evil and dangerous villain, has triggered a parasitic relationship with Tomura Shigaraki that’s blended their consciousness to become the ultimate antagonist. Japan’s Pro Heroes have proven to be useless against Shigaraki’s powerful awakening and season six ends on a suspenseful cliffhanger that recruits international reinforcements to take on this apocalyptic threat.

Taylor Swift started off as a country artist at a time when the genre was both less respectful and accommodating of the voices of women than at any other point in its storied history. The singer’s first four albums barely scan as country music in a meaningful way, instead embracing her preternatural gifts for pop conventions, and her output has gotten stronger the more openly she’s embraced those skills. In the 18 years since the single “Tim McGraw” launched Swift to country stardom, she’s jettisoned the genre’s ill-fitting signifiers and overcome the limitations of her early recordings—improvements captured in her “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings as a powerful statement of artistic agency.
After spending the last year traveling the world on her Eras Tour, Swift has returned with a double album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. To celebrate, we’ve revisited all 11 of her studio albums...

A biopic about the life of the late “Saturday Night Live” star Chris Farley is in the works, IndieWire has confirmed.
Emmy-winner Paul Walter Hauser is attached to star as Farley, and Josh Gad would direct the project. “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels is producing the feature biopic via his Broadway Video production banner. Gad, the Broadway star and “Frozen” actor, would make his feature directorial debut on the film.
Right now the project is just at the package stage and being presented to interested buyers looking to make it, but it surely will be an in-demand package that could go quickly and make this movie a reality sooner rather than later. It also helps that the Farley family has given its blessing to the project.

Sex, ‘80s, and Robby Müller: How Two Brits Recreated the American Crime Film in ‘Love Lies Bleeding’
Unlike most of the next generation of great director-cinematographer pairings, Ben Fordesman and Rose Glass didn’t have a collaborative history prior to their first feature “Saint Maud.” They didn’t go to school together or make short films — it was Fordesman’s agent who made the connection for “Saint Maud.”
And in interviewing both Glass and Fordesman for this story, it’s clear on the first project they were feeling each other out, figuring out how the other worked, and then at some point it just clicked.
Glass described the development of a visual style on “Saint Maud” that became the basis of their work on their second feature, “Love Lies Bleeding.” “I think that naturally we had a bit of a shorthand, I guess trying to constantly balance this being of [and] in the real world, but also kind of not,” said Glass, while she was a guest on IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast.

Sydney Sweeney has had a busy few months as she rises to new levels of stardom. After the mammoth success of her romantic comedy with Top Gun: Maverick’s Glenn Powell called Anyone But You, the actress starred in the meme-bank Sony film Madame Web. The actress is now gearing up for the release of her first production, the horror film Immaculate.
Sweeney reportedly first came across the script for the film when she auditioned for it way before her fame. Though the project did not take off, the script of the film reportedly kept spinning her head, and when she got the chance to produce her own film, she decided to contact the screenwriter. While there were some changes from the original script, Sweeney mentioned that her performance in one particular scene in the film was the result of her reaction to a real-life incident.

In the realm of religious horror, one filled with tales of divine terror, Immaculate emerges as the latest contender. Yet despite its promising setup within the shadowy confines of an Italian nunnery and a cast led by Sydney Sweeney, the film struggles to carve out a niche for itself. Directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel, the movie treads familiar ground, recycling familiar elements without delivering the novel twists, deeper insights or genuine horror in a genre that thrives on the exploration of faith’s darker dimensions.
The opening scene grips the audience with a woman’s desperate attempt to escape from a nunnery, only to be thwarted and mysteriously buried alive. The story then shifts to Sister Cecilia (Sweeney), a novitiate embarking on her spiritual journey at the nunnery, undeterred by skepticism at customs and cautionary advice from Sister Mary (Simona Tabasco) about her vows. Exclusive: The Sydney Sweeney & Paul Walter Hauser title, Americana, which was one of the prolific acquisition titles from last year’s SXSW, has finally seen its worldwide rights go to Lionsgate.
Why did a movie with big stars and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes take so long to sell? I understand part of the hold-up stems from the pic’s financier, Bron Studios, going into bankruptcy.
The Tony Tost written and directed movie follows local outsiders and outcasts in a small South Dakota town whose lives violently intertwine after a rare artifact falls onto the black market. Americana also stars pop singer Halsey, Eric Dane, Zahn McClarnon, Gavin Maddox Bergman, Simon Rex, Derek Hinkey, Toby Huss, and Harriet Sansom Harris.
Pic is produced by Alex Saks. EPs are Aaron L. Gilbert, Steven Thibault, Alison-Jane Roney, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Terry Dougas, and Jean-Luc de Fanti.

Actress Sydney Sweeney does not seem to be slowing down even though her last release Madame Web was a box office disaster. The actress was part of the ensemble cast in the Sony Spider-Man Universe film along with Dakota Johnson, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor. However, Sydney Sweeney seemed to have put the trolls behind her as she recently poked fun at her film. Sweeney appeared on Saturday Night Live earlier this week and referred to its failure in her monologue. The actress had joined the show as a host to promote her upcoming horror film Immaculate.

Masters of the Air is a big, thick slice of handsomely produced World War II Americana, so it's only fitting that one of its biggest stars went for an incredibly heavy American accent for his performance. Barry Keoghan was born in Dublin, but as Lieutenant Curtis Biddick, he hails from the corner of Bronx and Brooklyn in the sovereign kingdom of Noo Yawk.
It takes a second to register what Keoghan is up to with this voice. His co-star, Callum Turner, also decided to adopt an East Coast blue-collar accent for his character, only for Keoghan to one-up him. "All right, Meatball" becomes "awwright meetbawwwl." When Maj. John ‘Bucky’ Egan (Turner) mentions that he has a meeting with the new Co tomorrow, Riddick replies, "Tudday is tuhmrowrrow." He then heads off to grab a boyger and fries at the sodee fountain.

You only had to look at Jason Isbell’s silhouette to realize what song he was about to perform at the MusiCares tribute to Jon Bon Jovi on Friday night in Los Angeles. Wearing a large-brimmed hat and a long duster coat and holding — the giveaway — a double-neck guitar, it was clear “Wanted Dead or Alive” was in the cards.
Isbell acknowledged as much on Instagram on Saturday: “I think it’s pretty obvious which Bon Jovi song I did just by looking at this picture,” he wrote.

T-Pain was at a karaoke party last year when an R&b-flavored country ballad starting playing over the system. The rapper-turned-singer didn’t recognize it, so he opened up Shazam to listen — and the result came back as “Tennessee Whiskey,” by Chris Stapleton. “I made it a part of my ‘sad playlist,’” T-Pain tells Rs. “The lyrics spoke to me.”
Songs from decades past are routinely revived or rediscovered, and that’s currently happening in a big way with “Tennessee Whiskey,” a 44-year-old honky-tonk song about salvation by someone who...

The Grammy for Best Country Song has gone to some of the most iconic tunes ever in the genre. From all-time classics like Glen Campbell‘s “Gentle on My Mind” and Willie Nelson‘s “On the Road Again” to modern smash hits like Lady A’s “Need You Now” and critically acclaimed gems like Kacey Musgraves’s “Space Cowboy,” voters are often very careful and accurate in awarding the very best in country music. This year’s set of nominees is, in my opinion, one of the strongest the category has ever seen, with a mix of Grammy favorites and already-classic country songs facing off.
Perhaps the only song that doesn’t have much of a chance to win here is Brandy Clark’s “Buried.” The track isn’t really a big hit or particularly acclaimed, and Clark will likely fare better in the Americana categories anyway. Still, Clark got six nominations this year,...

“Thank you to the voters in the TV academy, thank you mom and dad, you nurtured what I had in me. Dennis Lehane, Taron Egerton, your talent can move boulders. If I look tall it’s cause I’m standing on both of their shoulders,” rapped out Paul Walter Hauser starting one of the most unusual Emmy acceptance speeches of the night for Black Bird.
He’s taking home the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Or Anthology Series or Movie for his super creepy great nuanced performance as serial killer Larry Hall on the Apple TV+ show. Also unconventional, Hauser was crunching on something in his seat when they called his name and still chewing when he took the stage.

Alongside all the mutant mayhem, the terrifying monster brawls, and the ‘just one more hour’ gameplay, the :a[Fallout games]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/gaming/reviews/fallout-4-review/' target='blank' rel='noreferrer noopener'} have always come with a hefty dollop of satire – whether it’s the winking aesthetic steeped in ’50s Americana, or the pointed notion of what exactly goes down inside Vault-Tec’s underground shelters. This year the Grammys moved the Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical categories into the general field. The way voting works, academy members are only allowed to vote in three fields besides general, and can only vote in 10 categories between those three fields. Songwriter of the Year was its own field when that award was introduced last year, and most members probably didn’t want to burn one of their three fields to vote for just one award. Now all voters can participate in these contests, hopefully generating a more representative list of who excelled behind the scenes. This year in particular has a diverse and exciting list of possible contenders in both categories, so let’s consider who might make the cut in the songwriting race.

Elvis Presley‘s only wife, Prisiclla Presley, shared her heart-tugging account of life with Elvis Presley in her book Elvis and Me. Director Sofia Coppola took Prisiclla’s story and turned it into a feature film, Priscilla, detailing what went on behind the closed doors of Graceland Mansion. Priscilla says about life with the king of rock and roll, “It’s a long story.”
‘Priscilla’ tells the love story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley from her perspective
In a new clip promoting the A24 Film, Priscilla, director Sofia Coppola, and Priscilla Presley sat down to speak on the project. The clip also features behind-the-scenes moments from the tight shoot, which took 30 days.
“When I read Priscilla’s memoir, I was just struck with what an unusual, wild ride her life has been,” Coppola says in the clip. Priscilla responds, “It’s a long story.”

In the 15 years between the 1981 release of the Gun Club’s first album and their frontman’s death in 1996, the bleached-blond rock & roll typhoon known as Jeffrey Lee Pierce touched the lives of Nick Cave, Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, Lydia Lunch, and countless others. His music could be invigorating and/or mysterious, sometimes at the same time. Every Christmas movie has to have its scrooge. In Alexander Payne’s holiday-set dramedy The Holdovers, the curmudgeon is Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti), a long-time teacher at Barton Academy, an elite Massachusetts boarding school. Paul treats the affluent students in his ancient history class with contempt, gleefully terrorizing them with poor grades in order to trip up their otherwise smooth rides to fancy colleges. He’s the kind of teacher who flunks almost everyone on their end-of-semester exam and then assigns the class extra homework over the holidays as prep for yet another exam as soon as they get back. Bah humbug, indeed.
It’s not just the students at Barton who loathe Paul. So does the school’s administration. Hence Paul being saddled with holdover duty over the winter break—that is, to supervise any students who, for whatever reason, can’t go on lavish vacations like the rest of their peers,...

With last year’s Laurel Hell, Mitski elaborated on the eclectic, ’80s-influenced sounds of 2018’s Be the Cowboy, synthesizing the lessons she’d learned from her earlier work about multi-instrumental songwriting and thematic cohesiveness. “According to that pattern,” Mitski told Apple Music at the time, “the next thing I’ll do will be completely different.” Indeed, her seventh album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, delivers on that promise, adapting her poignant lyricism to the acoustic strings and traditionally rural setting of country music.
As always, Mitski’s music aches with longing, and by leaning into a bleak vision of the heartland, she unlocks a gothic sense of dread. “Bug Like an Angel” opens the album with the gory image of a bug stuck to the bottom of a glass. Accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, Mitski sounds like a lonesome country balladeer, or the drinker on the...

The Jonas Brothers's 2023 tour, aptly titled The Tour, is one of the hottest shows this summer. During every concert, the band is revisiting almost their entire discography by performing each song off their latest album, "The Album," as well as their previous four records: "Jonas Brothers," "A Little Bit Longer," "Lines, Vines and Trying Times," and "Happiness Begins." The setlist, which is made up of close to 70 songs, also includes tracks from their solo projects, including Dnce's "Cake by the Ocean" and Nick Jonas's "Jealous."
Since this is the most ambitious tour the Jonas Brothers have ever done, long-time fans of the group definitely won't want to miss seeing Nick, Kevin, and Joe Jonas when they come to their city. If you have tickets to see the trio, remember to snap plenty of concert photos because The Tour is set out to be a once-in-a-lifetime event.

The Jonas Brothers played their first of two shows at Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday to kick off “The Tour,” their 90-plus date international live trek.
Similar to their early 2023 Broadway residency, the Yankee Stadium show consisted of a career-spanning, 60-song set that featured separate acts dedicated to each of the trio’s five albums: 2007’s self-titled Hollywood Records debut, 2008’s A Little Bit Longer, 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times, 2019’s Happiness Begins, and portions of their latest effort, May’s The Album, performed in spurts throughout. UTA has boarded world sales on Mark H. Rapaport’s Fantasia premiere “Hippo.”
“We are very excited for this one,” said UTA’s Billy Offer, admitting a number of distributors have already expressed interest.
“It’s so oddly relatable and so singular in its approach, and vision, that we really wanted to help make sure it got the right platform to shine. Fantasia is a perfect launchpad for this type of film.”
Produced by Kinematics in association with Rough House Pictures, it counts Danny McBride and David Gordon Green among its executive producers.
“Hippo’s’ strange and dark humor is quintessential viewing and a wonderful reminder of why we all got into indie filmmaking in the first place,” Gordon Green told Variety, calling it “a brilliant feature debut.”
In the film, Hippo and his adopted sister Buttercup (Lilla Kizlinger) live in complete isolation with their unstable mother. But Buttercup keeps...

Bron, the finance and production company that backed films including Joker, Licorice Pizza, Bombshell and Judas and the Black Messiah, has filed for bankruptcy, its co-founder Aaron J. Gilbert said Wednesday.
In a letter to “friends, partners, team members and backers,” Gilbert wrote today that Bron — the parent company of Bron Studios and Bron Digital — had filed for creditor protection with the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada, where it is based, concurrent with Chapter 15 in the U.S.
The Chapter 15 designation deals with cases involving more than one country.
“Having explored many options for many months, Bron had no choice but to take this step in light of its financial circumstances,” Gilbert wrote (read the full letter here). “The last few years have been incredibly difficult for Bron, and things have only gotten more complicated over these past months. Covid and the many other issues affecting the media industry the last few years,...
