He may be in tip-top shape now, but Rocco Dispirito wasn't always running triathlons.
After his doctor confronted him about his high blood pressure and cholesterol, the celebrity chef, now 46, completely transformed his lifestyle. Opting to choose diet and exercise over prescription medications, Dispirito reworked his recipes to ensure weight loss rather than weight gain.
The "Now Eat This! Diet" writer opened up about his new cooking style at the 2013 Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival at Caesar's Hotel and Casino over the weekend, telling HuffPost Celebrity, "My own declining health sparked my interest in a lower-calorie diet."
"I started to make dishes that I love, healthy," he explained. "The first dish was lobster bisque. In the summer I eat a lot of boiled lobster and I make lobster bisque with the leftovers and I realized that it actually tastes better when there’s less fat involved versus more fat.

20. Tim Gunn, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style
Tim Gunn's professorial smarts on Project Runway and his long-gone makeover series Tim Gunn's Guide to Style make his conservative work attire damn fetching. He's a saucy and sexy guy, and I'm not just saying that because I believe my impersonation of him is Nobel-worthy.
19. Joe Rogan, Fear Factor
I hated Fear Factor, and I wasn't much a fan of Joe Rogan's Super Amped hosting skills -- but I'll give the man one thing: He was hilarious on Newsradio,...

At 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (Wed., 10Pm Et on Bravo), Alan Cumming revealed that his next film role would be Salvador Dali. After joking around about his crazy-eyed impression of Dali, it was discovered that fellow guest Liza Minnelli had actually met the artist.
"I went into this restaurant, and I was sitting at the table with Salvador Dali and I saw the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen," Minnelli said. Only, things weren't quite as they seemed.
It turns out the most beautiful woman Liza Minnelli had ever seen was actually a man in drag. And rather than be cool and sophisticated about it when she found out, Minnelli shouted out, "You're kidding!"

The second season premiere of "Outrageous Kid Parties" is on TLC tonight and I've always hated the whole concept of expensive overdone parties for kids under the age of ten. Most of them are mentally and physically exhausted after about two hours and god forbid you drop a huge chunk of cash on a day long petting zoo rental only to have the birthday boy or girl collapse into a tantrum half way through. But my feelings may also stem from the fact that I barely remember most of my childhood birthdays beyond getting cake so I'm really glad my parents got all the decorations from Oriental Trading Company and the cake from Baskin Robbins so I don't have to feel guilty about the fact that all the parties run together in my mind. Here's your Wednesday night TV:

One of the joys of working on the internet is, of course, your complete and utter helplessness when your equipment decides that it wants to be a bastard. Oh, sure, your computer will tell you that you've got full wireless signal and the modem will have all the little lights on saying that the internet is connected and wireless is working but does that mean you can actually access any websites? No. No it does not. And as satisfying as it would be to throw all those little gadgets that smirk at you with their little Led indicator lights across the room, you know you can't because that will just make the whole situation worse, somehow. And when you finally figure out the right combination of cords and switching it off for 30 seconds and turning it back on to make everything work, it makes even less sense which just aggravates you more.

Tonight, Discovery seems to be airing a non-Shark Week themed show since "One Man Army" is airing at its usual time. I've checked the episode description and nowhere does it mention Anything about sharks so that's frustrating and confusing. They've managed to make episodes of "Mythbusters" and "Dirty Jobs" that were Shark Week themed so I don't know why they can't just do that for all shows that air during Shark Week. And since the same company owns TLC and Discovery channel maybe they could send a few sharks over to "Toddlers and Tiaras" to get these parents to have a little perspective. "What's that? Your little girl doesn't like it when you bleach her hair because it burns? That's a shame. We've got someone to help you deal with those feelings. Actually, several someones. Or somethings. We call the big one Bitey." Here's your Wednesday night TV:

Over here in Rusty-land it's one of those Wednesday that seems to be taking forever but at the same time every so often I'll look up at the clock and be like "wait, it's what time now? Crap." I find this to be a particular problem with Wednesdays, perhaps because of the transition from first half of the week to second half of the week at least if you're going by the standard Monday to Friday week schedule. Although perhaps I should be more upbeat since according to today's xkcd Wednesday is frequently Ladies' night. Oh, right, there's also some television going on. A few of those reality series that some of you adore, so that's cool. So, here's your Wednesday night TV, which will be on both forever from now and sooner than I think it will:

We recently had the chance to talk to Raven Symoné, and now we want to offer the chance to experience her version of New York City.
Raven Symoné has got plenty on her plate with her new ABC Family show State Of Georgia, a comedy series where she acts as an aspiring actress trying to make it in NYC. But, first a pit-stop in Celebrity Chef Rocco Dispirito's NYC loft for the Bravo hit show Rocco's Dinner Party!
Check out her latest appearance in the next episode where she'll help Chef Rocco & other celebrity guests critique two "Gastropub" style dinner parties!

I don't think I've mentioned that this is the last season of "Rescue Me" yet so I'm going to now, because it gives me something to talk about tonight that's actually sort of interesting. Now in it's seventh season, the show has been variously praised for its portrayal of Ptsd and alcoholism in Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) and derided for romanticizing a man who is a consummate asshole. I'm more of the opinion that it's a combination of both. I mean, those two characterizations aren't really at odds with each other. Damaged people aren't always saints and assholes can have terrible things happen to them and genuine problems to deal with. Doesn't make them the most sympathetic of characters, but sometimes it can make for more interesting stories and interactions. Also, it's one of those rare shows that really got to plan out their ending, since the announcement that this...

The complaints about how I never watch TV have begun again so I'll address them. The truth is, I probably watch Way More TV than most of you because I'm currently unemployed, but that doesn't mean I watch a lot of different shows. I'm opposed to the reality genre mostly on principle and secretly because every time I've tried to watch one of those shows either my eyes glaze over and I lose three hours or they make me want to kill people. Not euphemistically either, like I start planning ways to get on a plane and fly to whatever location those individuals live at and kill them and that's just not mentally healthy. Also, it takes something special to get me hooked on a show and I can't ever really say what that is. Not quality, because I won't even begin to pretend that all the shows I watch...

The new USA series "Necessary Roughness" premieres tonight and all I can say is thank God because those promos have been running for like the last month and a half during the weekend "Law and Order: We Frown at Things Seriously" marathons and I'll be happy to see them go. First of all, I keep seeing that one guy and thinking "Hey! It's that guy from 'House' who had a nasty case of thrush!" because that's all I can think of when I see him. IMDb indicates that his name is Marc Blucas. Good for him. Also, hopefully I won't have to listen to star Callie Thorne spit "I'm not a hooker, I'm a therapist" like it's supposed to be funny anymore. Really, though, it just seems like someone played darts with popular drama plot lines and current buzzwords (Divorce! Football! Sexting! Therapy! ) and tried to turn it into a show.

The special guest for this week's installment of 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (Wed., 10 Pm Et on Bravo) was Padma Lakshmi. This upped the ante for the contestants as Lakshmi knows a thing or two about good cooking. But it was her dinner table conversation that brought the most heat.
Take a read of the following description for making potato skins. "Take a nice russet potato out of the earth with your bare cold hand. After that, you boil it. Then you take it out when it's piping hot and you can barely hold it ... scoop some of the potato out so that skin gets nice and crunchy and brown at the edges."
Sounds pretty standard, but everything was in Lakshmi's delivery. By the time she finished, she not only had them salivating at the thought of potato skins, but they were fanning themselves for a whole different kind of heat.

Rocco’s Dinner Party: a good old-fashioned reality food competition where three chefs cook a dinner for frequent Top Chef judge Rocco Dispirito.
Let’s be honest, chefs take themselves way too seriously. Contestant #1, Geoff, thinks cooking is a symphony and he is the conductor. The restaurant is the opera house and there’s always a fat lady.
Contestant #2, Britt, believes she is going to head an empire with her culinary abilities, or maybe just a Chuck-e-Cheese.
Contestant #3, J.J, is convinced that his whole family will hate him if he doesn’t win this competition, because he’s been “cooking since the age 6 and everyone’s watching.”
Rocco: You think it's hard becoming a Navy Seal? That's nothing
compared to cooking a meal I approve of!
Once we know the ridiculously high stakes involved with cooking food, Dispirito comes in to deliver the challenge: He has 6 guests coming over...

Love 'em and leave 'em. It seems to work for Brad Goreski, former assistant to celeb stylist Rachel Zoe and now the star of his own series on Bravo. It was just one of the 11 new programs and five returning series Bravo announced for its 2011-2012 season on Wednesday (March 30).
With the working title of "It's a Brad, Brad World," the series follows Goreski as he builds his own company after leaving Zoe. Cameras follow the stylisto through his first year on his own, including Paris fashion week, the Cannes film festival, the men's runway shows and the summer couture shows.
Other highlights include a new series for "Flipping Out" star Jeff Lewis, a spinoff show for "Salon Takeover's" Tabatha Coffey, a New York spinoff of "Million Dollar Listing," and a new show for "Project Runway" alum, designer Chris March.
