What happens when a person leaves home for a new land? Transformation. Paco Gomes employs diverse styles of dance, folklore, and music to express his unique multi-cultural life experience. Originally from Bahia, Brazil, Paco's extensive experience in dance and music has evolved from his Brazilian culture and into his new life in San Francisco, California. We follow Paco across the equator to his homeland of Brazil, touring with his first American dance company. Besides experiencing his Brazilian roots, integrally shaped by music and dance, we also observe Paco's process and his struggle directing a bourgeoning American contemporary dance company. Tension exists between the folkloric and contemporary dance as well as between the two cultural spaces that Paco must straddle. Resolution comes through Paco's commitment the process, rather than simply an end result. Through his transitions throughout time and space, one thing remains: a passion for dance and a comment to who and what he loves.
