This is a very well made, intelligent, highly original film with multiple layers and themes. Production values are excellent! Costumes were beautiful! All the actors did a great job! This isn't Marvel territory but a movie for grown-ups that deserves a grown-up audience. Let's hope it gets the recognition it deserves. While the pacing may drag a little bit sometimes, this is a must see movie! A perfect cure to predictable, CGI grotesque blockbusters that populate our screens. A more than welcome return of old school, truly remarkable storytelling. I am glad I saw this in my town's film festival!

First and foremost I loved this movie which is probably one of the best historical fictions on the Arab world since Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven.
The press reviews were not bad but frankly when I was watching it and quickly understood it has been completely underrated. The main actress (Adila Bendimerad) is litterally amazing and what to say about Dali Benssalah which is again delivering a monumental performance after the Netflix' released Athena movie.
The movie's decor, costumes and landscapes are beautiful even though it can't be compared to Hollywood for the outdoor settings (only expect natural ones, because re-generating 1500' Algiers seemed to be out of budget). Interior ones are more than compensating it and costumes and cinematography are awesome.
The plot itself is great and sticking well to a credible history with a great cast making it lively and enjoyable, especially the pirates.
There is also a great pleasure to hear real, north african dialect.
If you love history, action, romance, and beauty in a movie this is a must see.

Just saw "The Last Queen" this week, and I've got to say, I was genuinely impressed. I'm an American guy living in Paris, and I didn't know much about Algeria's history, but this film had me completely hooked. The story was really engaging, with a mix of romance, political drama, and personal challenges that kept me on the edge of my seat.
The acting was top-notch, too. The whole cast did an amazing job, making me feel connected to the characters and their struggles. It's not often that a movie can make me feel so invested in the people on the screen. The main actor of Algerian descent, who recently starred in a huge blockbuster, delivered an outstanding performance that showcased his incredible range and talent.
What stood out the most to me, though, was the incredible depiction of Algerian history. From the ancient Berber civilization to the French colonization and the fight for independence, I learned a lot while being entertained. The filmmakers did an excellent job making everything look authentic and staying true to the historical facts.
My only regret is that I had to watch the movie in the French version, as the original version wasn't available at the theater near my place. I would have loved to experience the film in its original language to fully appreciate the nuances of the performances and dialogue.

When you see the Algerian heritage present in any movie, be sure that you will see a masterpiece 🤝
Algerian old clothes document a golden period experienced by Algeria, and the sophistication that characterized the Algerians at the time .
The Algerian history & heritage is very diverse and rich, considering Algeria is the largest African and Arab country, but it is not very touristic, Through the film anyone can search and discover this great country since ancient times Queen Zafira, the wife of Selim Toumi, was a strong personality throughout history. I found the movie to be very captivation, brutal sometimes.
The story of the last queen to role algeirs was beautifully told, showing this algerian historical figure in more derails making her more relatable.
But yet giving younger generation a glimpse of the history of the region which is something that should be done more often due to the rich history of the north African region in general and the vast/rich algerian history.
The leading actress was really great in her role as the queen of algiers make us relive that period of time and so as the rest of the cast.
Amazing work, I really recommend it.

Really impressed by the movie. The cast, the costumes everything makes you travel time. The movie is a must watch for people that lives history. Not 100% accurate, there is some dramatic scene that were needed for the movie. But overall loved it and will watch it again. Can't wait for it to be out in Netflix to watch it again. The costumes were breathtaking. Loved every single one of them. Big bravo to the entire crew. I am.hoping they will be more movies produced in the same theme. Can't wait to see a second part or more parts that will continue on the same story. I am sure there are more to stay about that period.

I loooooove the movie, everything is just dreamy the cast, the costumes, the Algerian heritage and culture omg, I recommend this movie big Time, I am glad that our culture is finally getting some representation in movies, I grew up with this heritage but sadly never seen it get the recognition it truly deserves because it's such a rich and beautiful heritage. The actors did an amazing job, the script the story, the directing, everything is perfect. I hope many other movies about Algerian historical figures and traditions are yet to come because I truly enjoyed this one

Very beautiful movie about Algeria before the Ottomans. Full of historical facts, I also loved the algerian traditional dresses. The movie is well made, the characters are so real just like you are living in that time, it takes you back to an important time of an algerian history. Algeria, has amazing history. What you saw in the movie is just a fraction of that country have been through. A fact that a lady confronts pirates and invasions show the courage and bravery of the queen Zafira, she is an example of an Algerian brave woman and how she fought for her country so hard, a must watch movie full action.

I loved the movie very much. It took me on an interesting historical journey. I never got tired of watching the movie. It is a real innovation, although the great history of Algeria cannot be reduced to one movie. Nevertheless, the movie is excellent. Algerians must work more on introducing their true history and protecting it from Moroccan thieves. The whole world has become aware of their hostility to everything that is Algerian. Nevertheless, it is impossible to falsify history. Algeria was great and still is. I hope that God preserves Algeria, its people, its history and its future.long live Algeria.

Captivating, magnificent landscapes, beautiful costumes, very beautiful historical story. A side of Algeria that I knew in history books and there it is beautifully told, what a performance from the main actress and the actors, what impressed me the most was the passion and determination that shine through in every shot. We clearly feel the director's willingness to tell this story and his desire to make a success of his first Algerian period film. All of this translates to a touching and moving film on screen that makes you want to stand up and applaud when it's over. I strongly recommend it.

This movie takes you centuries back to ancient Kingdom of Algeria, the most powerful and wealthiest of them all in the region at that time.
It tells a story of love, war, sacrifice, betrayal, a faithful woman's love and how a true princess should be.
You should absolutely not waste the opportunity to watch this masterpiece if you're interested in north african/berber/Algerian history, cause you'll travel just right there.

Sublime a great queen and a great country ALGERIA is not just a country..but an integrated continent.... We notice in the film the diversity of the cultural heritage of Algeria in terms of clothing.. and jewelry... We also notice the personality and charisma of the Algerian woman that has not changed...therefore .. I really liked this movie, I am into history and the way they tackled the events made me read more about that era,.....,..
it really gives you an adventure deep into history.
The music , i really lived with them in every scenery not forgetting the way they dressed they all seemed to be royalty.

A very wonderful movie, at the level of acting, excellent performance in acting and photography, wonderful visual effects, and also very professional actors. It tells of a period of Algeria's glow throughout history, its great power, and its control over the Mediterranean when some other countries were unrecognized and without an honorable history (Bousbirland). The sons of these microscopic states (Dièl Hook) of weak slaves (Krabiz Triket Swaâda) in the present are the ones who give a bad evaluation of the film and liken it to Turkish films in the Ottoman era, and this is completely untrue. Algeria remains Algeria with its components, geography and history, and Turkey also remains Turkey with its history. I say to those who criticize with great hatred and malice, search for your biological fathers before looking into the history of others.

One of the best films I have seen with highly professional actors, a picture and sound of the best without forgetting the details in the wonderful Algerian traditional dress and the Algerian palaces of the Zirid and Andalusian architectural character and the Algerian zellij. I wish them more brilliance and creativity. They are really creative. . And what increases the beauty of this wonderful original Algerian film is that the events of this film are realistic from the stories of the ancient Algerian history that extends over many centuries of time, and it is only one episode of the Algerian history that extends to the kings of Andalusia and the kings of Granada, which was built by the Algerians and It is what we see today in the buildings of Andalusia and Granada of the character of the Ziri building and the traditional Ziri dress represented in the Algerian caftan, the Algerian judge's caftan, the Algerian Tlemcen shadda, and the Zirian ornaments and jewelry that the Algerians inherited from their ancestors and Andalusian and Zirian ancestors, and Queen Zafira is nothing but One of the many great kings who passed through the great and honorable golden history of Algeria, and we extend a great salute to those who contributed to the completion of this cinematic work, which will remain immortal in the history of world cinema.
