OK little sketch but pay-off is not quite up to the build-up

An Applicant. An Interviewer. An office. But what exactly is the Applicant applying for? In this short film an interviewer asks questions to a rather odd man who gives odd answers and appears to be almost entirely unsuitable for the job that he is applying for (teaching children in a kindergarten). This odd scenario keeps the viewer watching because of how odd it is and you wait for the answer as to what is happening – a reveal that comes as a result of a lose thread on a tie. The scenario playing out is amusing but mostly it is curiosity that kept me interested because I wanted to see where it went. Where it goes is amusing and not without some imagination behind it but it is sadly not as impacting, funny or clever as I had hoped as it was building up.

The two actors do a decent job and their performance is all part of the oddity working, while the direction keeps the focus tight on them, it is just a shame that the material isn't delivered with more of a punch. It is still an OK little short film as far as it being a "sketch" but it isn't one that will stick in the mind for much.
