Disclaimer: I am not a critic and hate writing reviews. I am just an actor and writer who appreciates both independent and large-scale productions. When I looked up this film's rating after watching it on YouTube, I was so shocked to see no one had reviewed this wonderful film on IMDB that I felt a responsibility to share just how amazing this picture was.
I have been a fan of Tre Melvin since I was in my early 20s, around the time he started to become well-known on YouTube. I have followed him since watching his versatility as an actor, writer, singer, comedian, director, etc. He and his peers have been a great influence to me as an independent artist, myself. His work has always put a smile on my face and/or even made me cry. Tre is one of the most talented artists out there even compared to the larger scale, studio- supported performers/filmmakers.
When I heard that he had completed and was showcasing his first official short film, I knew that his fans and movie watchers, in general, were in for a treat. However, when I watched this film I was blown away even more than I thought I would be by how well it was written, directed, and performed. Not only by Tre, which is a given, but also the other actors and Tre's crew.
The story itself is an ever-evolving narrative. It starts out being one thing, then ends up being completely different. Without giving spoilers, Tre and his team depict the power of the brain in it's processing of pain, love, connection, change, and even trauma in powerful, immersive, hilarious, and heartbreaking manner.
That's really all I can say without spoiling anything. But Mazel Tov to you Tre! And thank you for being a continued inspiration to me and others! Highly recommend this film to anyone and everyone, although mainly adults or teens under parents discretion due to the some of the mature language and themes.
