Subtle and believable, Emily George Lyons portrays the pain and guilt of one young woman over a life-changing decision. Lyons completely carries this short film, which was beautifully directed by Umashankar Gummadidala, produced by Innovations Productions, and will be screened at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival. Gummadidala uses dream-within-a-dream technique to portray the shifting and deepening emotions of Jane, the central character. The use of black and white vs. color adds layers to the already beautiful mise-en-scene. Lyons's performance is true-to-life without tipping over into melodrama, which the script might lend itself to with a lesser actor. I hope this film does well in Cannes, and I hope to see more work coming from Innovations, Gummididala and Lyons in the very near future!!
