A bad trip
udryac25 July 2020
Viewing this show I was on a trip and had turned on the TV in my hotel and immediately was greeted by the opening sequence to Donkey Ollie, which I then proceeded to ponder whether I was having a bad trip or had been dreaming.....

Nails-on-Chalkboard Bad

If you like donkeys with human teeth, human lips, human eyes, and ears that resemble angel wings, you'll love this show. Add to that a soundtrack made to induce migraines and horrendous theology, I can't imagine that this show came out in 2010. Who the heck is Boat Angel / Car Angel?! Who names their productions company "Boat Angel"?!

The worst.
zekesmith-8483217 January 2020
This show is the worst. The animation is revolting. the dialogue makes riverdale look great. you can hear echos from whatever bathroom they recorded it in. The theology is horrible and misleading. I wish I could give this zero stars. the Agape Island thing I would go so far as to say it was offensive. Whats worse is that the creators of this show are leaving 10 star star reviews here . The show is cringy and pathetic. and you can have it sent to your church for free aparently.

What the heck happened, here?
lexi-mccaver23 November 2013
I am not trying to discriminate but something is very, very wrong with this show. Despite how awkward the characters are, the show is vulgar and inappropriate. How terrible I don't see how it can possibly be intended for children when Donkey Ollie is being choked in one episode and beat in another. I do not recommend this show to anyone who does not have a strong stomach. I regret coming across this show with my baby cousin who WILL NOT be watching it any longer. My best friend and I ,who are open minded, still cannot to find this in any way appropriate for any children. Its creepy, so creepy in fact that it has influenced me write this review. Yes I understand the biblicality of it but No, having traumatized my baby cousin I don't see how anyone can allow their children to watch it. If you want to terrify your children enjoy.

Abysmal, possible detrimental effects on the brain.

Warning: Spoilers
This series has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and I am not sure why it exists, or why someone has put money into making it. Although the design and morals of the stories are obviously directed at small children interested in the Bible, the character animation and texturing at times make the characters almost frightening to such an audience, and there are multiple scenes of violence and blood. The main story line becomes sidetracked from biblical tales extremely quickly, and is difficult to follow, especially for a child. The songs, which take up around a quarter of the running time of an episode, are all forgettable and badly written, and most of the time badly sung. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, as a matter of fact, I want to forget that I have watched this at all.

This is what nightmares are made of...
kpenguin-0963629 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is literally the worst "Christian" kids show I have ever seen. Please do not watch this or let your kids watch it. You will never be able to unsee it.

The animation and character design is the worst I have ever seen. No, seriously. I'm not joking. Some of the characters look like things I see in my nightmares. There are often multiple copies of the same character in one scene. The graphics in general look like something made in the '90s.

If you think the animation is bad, just wait till you hear the audio! Every line sounds like they recorded it in an echo chamber or something. The music sounds like it was written in the '80s, and is ultra-low quality. If you like musicals, then this video is for you, because every 2 seconds, they sing a song that literally makes your ears bleed! The lyrics are terribly written and are completely unnecessary to the storyline.

And if you're sitting there at this point thinking "Well that sounds terrible, but at least it's teaching good lessons to my kids! Right?" think again. If you're a racist, white supremacist, you'll love the first episode where (spoiler alert!) Jesus tells donkey Ollie that he's better than the other donkeys because he's white and has blonde hair. Sounds a lot like another historical figure I know who thought that white, blonde people were better than anyone else... The episode ends with Donkey Ollie trying to commit suicide by starving himself to death because he's so depressed. Great message for kids, right? And if you love gore and violence, you'll love graphic scenes like (spoiler alert!) Ollie's brothers attempting to strangle him to death with a jumprope and drown him in a well. You might also like seeing a man get stoned to death, or kids get hung in a tree by evil thieves. This should be rated like, PG-13. It encourages kids to do dangerous acts such as talking to strangers, attempting dangerous parkour, and participating in illegal covert operations (no, I'm not kidding, just watch episode 2).

If i had the last copy of this show, I would destroy it for the good of mankind. For the love of God, please don't watch this or let your kids watch it. You can never repair the damage it will do to their minds.

Donkey Ollie a Tale of Two Heros
bstewart-9637113 November 2017
This is an amazing show for young viewers. It traces the very lineage of Jesus Christ from his birth to his violent death on the cross through the eyes of a very young donkey - Ollie. The series is over ten years old and was created when rendering time was a much longer process. The characters retain a unique claymation type of look most likely because the director Doug Aberle worked under one of the premiere stop motion experts Will Vinton responsible for creating the California Raisins. The thirteen episodes were culled from five full length features story boarded and drawn up in Portland Oregon but animated in Hyderbad, India alongside Mickey Mouse House club. Don't expect to get the simple songs and be blown away by the misery inflicted on many of the characters. Donkey Ollie is an example to all children how to persevere under pressure and like the flowers in the perfume press, how to come out smelling like a rose. It is not unusual for young children to play these episodes again and again. You can find the whole series posted on Youtube if you don't want to flip through the channels looking for it.

Donkey Ollie has the Best Soundtrack Ever for Children
sidneythecheerleader14 November 2017
After watching all thirteen episodes I can understand why Donkey Ollie is so likable. He is the unique hero with flaws. He is brave but does not rush in to solve problems. He is a wonderful friend but doesn't need anyone patting him on the back. He is loyal to a fault. The most amazing thing about these adventure is the music. I have to admit I liked it more when I was a little kid but even now songs like "I'm Falling" grow on you. I loved the track. "Don't touch little girls" the warning to Luscious not to be so mean to the Hebrew Slaves. If you get a chance you can see the whole series online. It seems that this is shown everywhere. I have to see when the final episode plays and the cast is gathering around singing my heart felt a bit sad. I hope they make more Donkey Ollie shows. But until then these will have to do.

Catchy Kids Shows
northernlightorchestra17 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I remember the first Donkey Ollie show a cute 30 minute episode called Journey to Jerusalem. The first time I saw it they performed it as a puppet show at our church. That was back in the 80's now years later they have produced thirteen TV shows and translated their message into over 35 languages. I wonder why so many people express displeasure about this show. The very nature of Christianity is one of hardship and violence. From the birth of Christ persecuted by Herod forced to flee to Egypt and the slaughter of the Bethlehem innocents to the crucified savior the religion is full of violence and hardship. Donkey Ollie mirrors better than any other story that struggle. (Spoiler) The shipwrecked and battles with jackals and lions as well as the kidnapping and rescues, these realities prepare children for what a battle life can be and often is. The songs - well I know they are old but each and everyone is catchy and obviously a show that has been around for nearly 30 years has staying power. My kids watch it now but I expect sometime in the future my grandkids will be watching it. It is nice how they have a live section at the end of each episode makes it even better.

Excellent

My children have so much fun watching Donkey Ollie Adventures on the internet. They play them over and over. Yes it can be scary watching a Donkey have to escape from danger they love it. Sometimes I do not want to hear they sing Donkey Ollie where are you or Have a little seaweed especially when they are sitting down to dinner but it brings joy and laughter to our family. The artwork and dialogue is perfect for my preschoolers. They have seen the never movies but hey like the songs and stories from Donkey Ollie the best.

Historically relevant and accurate
lukasdohmen27 December 2016
By fart the absolute best show we have ever seen. We will model our lives and philosophies after the teachings of Donkey Ollie. We hope our children will someday appreciate this fine piece of art and be like Jayhuo: No legs, but walk. Our favorite Character though is Mr. Shivers. He teaches the children the most valuable lesson: not to trust anyone. ah ha ha. Even for those, not interested in the story of Jesus Christ this will truly bring the love of god into your lives and hearts. Even the filthiest of rogues will relate to Rupert the Reknown. It is full of action and special effects that will steal your breath. Farmer John is everything I want to be when i grow up. He is so fat, yet so happy. He is what i wished for as a child: an old man, who loves me. As a bible scientist, i reassure every heathen of the authenticity of the events portrayed in the series.

God bless.

Amazing how much Children like this show.
boatangeladds27 July 2018
I have watched children all around the world sing Donkey Ollie songs from these shows. Most of the young ones know the songs by heart. The favorite is Who Do You Think You Are and I Am Fallen.

The stories are easy to follow the dialogue easy to understand and who does not want to route for an underdog who never gives in never gives up. That is the lesson children take away. Life is hard but don't give up. Give it your best shot and pray for God to help you.

Fun for the Kids
boatangeladds18 September 2018
These are lighthearted adventure stories which follow the lives of Donkey Ollie his owners Jehu and Elizabeth and his best friend a raven named Rupert. The songs are cute and old fashioned, the characters were designed by a Disney Artist and show both originality and creativity. The show is loved by children around the world and has been translated into many languages. It is a show produced in America but does not have an American look. The characters are multi cultural and interesting. Lesson such as sharing bravery helping others are found in every adventure and no matter how bad things get for Ollie and friends his relationship with Jesus Christ is alway the tipping point for rescue. There are scary moments so before you set your young one in front of the TV watch it with them.

Family Films and Faith Based
mtzionuflcenter30 September 2020
Thank you for producing these faith based films. The Bible has so many amazing stories and truths. This series using the donkeys perspective is humble and needed. We at Mt Zion thank you for donating these wonderful films to our event. God Bless and Keep you .I would love to see Ollie tell a story about God's 7th Day Sabbath. We will be keeping it in heaven, and yet so many do not keep it here.

Also, the Donkey named Ollie is just too cute! Love him., Great job on the characters and making the stories come alive.
