Surprising
MozzarElla774 December 2023
Very surprising... firstly, surprised myself to actually watch it since I expect most non-classic movies to be sappy and predictable. This one was sappy-- but because of the maple syrup! It was a believable story and did lead the viewer to a satisfying ending.

The setting of the majority of the story takes place on the snowy, gorgeous grounds of a maple farm that has been in the family for generations. It gave a cozy but not schmaltzy feeling.

I find movie productions out of Canada lack a predictable and annoying tendency for the actors to overact and overREact, as is too common in the sort of made for TV genre.

Bravo!

Mostly fine, over the top Joy

I think it's important to start a review for this kind of Hallmark style Christmas movie with the disclaimer that I'm not expecting it to be good. I'm not here for the quality, I'm here for something cozy and predictable to watch (and cringe at occasionally) while I drink hot cocoa.

There were definitely a couple awkward scenes and transitions, but the thing that really bothered me was Joy...I'm not sure if it's the way her character was written, if it's just how to actress chose to play her, or if this is how the actress always is, but it felt so forced to me. She was smiling and giggling almost every single scene, and that in and of itself doesn't bother me (I'm a huge smiler myself so I'm not knocking it), but it felt really noticeably fake, if that makes sense? It seemed like the director was like, "Okay, her name is Joy, so let's make that her whole personality" and then she put on this weird Disney Princess level persona. That's the best way I can describe it, is I felt like I was watching an adult woman trying to act the way a ten year old girl would if she was trying to be cast as a princess in a Disney park. Forced smiling and giggling, so much that it was distracting for me.

Enjoyable

I did not have any expectations for this movie when I stumbled upon it while channel surfing. I noticed it had just started and I had missed about 5 minutes. So I paused for 5 minutes or so to check it out.

I found the characters and the story so compelling, I ended up watching the entire movie. To be honest, the plot didn't seem plausible. It's about a maple syrup farm and farmer - so I totally expected it to be boring. I was wrong! The characters, the dialogue, and the locations worked well together. I learned about making syrup.😊

This was a good movie that lived up to its name. It was sappy but in a good way. I'm happy that I stumbled upon it. I would watch it again. I thought it was refreshing.

If you want a movie so bad it's funny...

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was hilarious. Grab popcorn and a blanket and laugh with your spouse at all the absurdly ridiculous one-liners. Definitely scratched the itch for a "sappy holiday" movie. I think the actors could have had a half way decent chance at giving a good performance if the script wasn't so silly. "I have to start thinking with my heart" was a real quote - and so was "you're my holiday wish come true;" as was "you have to follow your heart, and my heart led me to you." Definitely had a dopamine release watching this from laughing so hard. Do not recommend for serious movie watchers, 100% recommend if you want an ooey gooey cheesy funny holiday film.

Cute and Sappy

A YouTube reviewer recommended this movie Sappy Holiday and I am so glad they did! All but one of the actors was new to me, but I loved them all. The Main Actor playing James was in another favorite movie of mine from last Christmas called "The Great Christmas Switch", and he is good in both movies.

This script was pretty familiar, but the cast was so good and lovable that you can overlook the fact that you have seen some of these elements before. The overbearing boyfriend, with the condescending family VS the sweet new wonderful guy and his down to earth welcoming family.

It was a pleasure to spend time with these characters!!

A Big Flop!

Warning: Spoilers
This has got to be one of the worst holiday movies I have ever seen! First of all, who is so dumb that they would drive to Vermont in the Winter, with a snow storm coming, wearing heels? And she repeats the same dumb move driving in heavy snow driving back to the farm. Then how could a bed and breakfast be set up in such a short amount of time, and take off so quickly with reservations pouring in immediately? It takes a new business some effective promoting and effort to get off the ground; not just a phone video. As far as the main characters are concerned, the on screen chemistry between the two is sorely missing. Also, this couple only met a short time ago, and yet James already purchased an engagement ring, without even knowing for sure if Joy would return to the farm or become engaged to her current boyfriend, as planned.

My favorite Holiday movie of the year
ikimberlin23 December 2022
I personally am a huge fan of holiday movies. I'm Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas but love a good sappy, cheesy holiday film. This one is one for the books.

When I say I'm a fan of holiday movies I mean it. November 1st I'm on top of it, going through the Hallmark app and Netflix.

My favorite app though is the Up, Faith and Family app which has so many wholesome and wonderful movies. There is always one that I decide is my favorite for the year and will proceed to buy it on Amazon Prime.

Last year it was Christmas at Rosemomt and this year it's Sappy Holiday.

It's hits all the right things and didn't make anything feel out of place. They also didn't add any of the woke stuff, which I'm so happy about.

So if you are looking for a great Holiday love story with magic then look no further.

Enjoyable movie

I enjoyed this movie so much. I watched the entire movie without any fast forwarding. The two main/lead characters were both likeable.

The actors did a great job.

This is a different kind of holiday movie in that I liked both leads from the beginning. I felt the positive connection between them. You can actually see them falling in love and the movie allows you to take the journey with them.

There was no bickering or constant personality conflicts that make you fast forward through most of these holiday movies. That kind of portrayal has been overdone.

This movie really lets the holiday spirit shine through.

I rooted for the family. I rooted for this couple. Their love and the fact that they ended up together was believable.

I cared about the characters in this movie. I will watch it again. Nice job with this script.

I can't believe what I just saw

This movie was amazing. There was nothing about the movie I didn't like. The characters, all of them, were believable. I loved Joy's relationship with all of them, especially with Dylan. She was able to get him to open up. That was an amazing feat unto itself. I have to admit that her and James' sister-in-law did end up behaving like sisters, which probably made both of them feel great. I never believed that she was going to fit in with her boyfriend's family. She was too down to earth for them. Gabe's mother was a nightmare and I can't believe that she was ever elected mayor in the first place. This movie was awesome and I am glad that I watched it.
