Overall, I liked the film, especially after I learned it was done for $25,000. Amazing. I liked the sepia tones and contrasts, plus the settings. It lagged for the first 25 minutes, and a few places later, but then I was engaged. I found the acting of Becca and her pregnant sister a bit lacking.
My main critique is that there is not enough depth to the characters. For instance, I didn't find anything much to like about Becca, the lead female. Come on, everybody's got something that makes them likable. And I found her husband just too cloying. The characters as written needed to be more rounded and at least sometimes likable.
I also don't like hanging endings...where you don't know the outcome, although I can guess at it. It interested me that Becca's husband was the "mature man" to her teen, where the ghost was also an older man.
I'm not a film critic, just a lover of films.
I am unsure of what we are to assume at the ending, so I leave that to the viewer. Worth watching. Won the 2013 Canadian International Film award.
