The same as I suspect we all did, I tuned in to Tuesday’s Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 13 Playoffs with some trepidation. And by “some trepidation,” I mean “a whole hell of a lot of trepidation.” A few of Monday’s performances were so godawful — and included one that garnered what I believe was my first-ever F grade — it was like watching American Horror Story: Talent Show. And the coach’s decisions… oh my Lorde, what were they thinking? Jennifer Hudson sabotaged Chris Weaver with a lackluster song that derailed his freight train and allowed her to...

Fox is hoping that anyone* still wants to watch dystopian teen movies. They are basically the only studio in Hollywood that hasn’t been burned in the attempt to cash in on teens attempting to overthrow a dictatorial government/company (Yes, Lionsgate scored huge with The Hunger Games Trilogy Plus One, but they also released the floundering, maybe headed to TV, Divergent film series), and now that production of the highly successful Maze Runner Trilogy is back on track, they are looking to start up a new teen dystopia tentpole. To that end, they are moving forward on their adaptation of The Darkest Minds and have cast Mandy Moore in a major role.
The film, based on the Ya trilogy by Alexandra Bracken, is set in a world in which a pandemic has killed off most of America’s children and teenagers. As some of the survivors develop special abilities,...

That was one wild night.
The Voice threw precedent out the window Tuesday night when it brought back eliminated artists from the Top 12 to perform one last time to earn the newly created fourth wild card spot in next week's finale.

Oh my, we are just burning through the last of these blind auditions! Let’s sit around the campfire and chat about some of the best (and oddest) moments from this week’s “The Voice” on NBC. 1. Escaping the Katy Perry curse. I remember Matt Cermanski from last season’s blind auditions. He performed the lung-busting, not found in nature “Teenage Dream” and fell prey to the Katy Perry curse that haunts “The Voice” stage (Fyi: Most who sing Katy Perry on this show are goners!). However, this time around Matt’s subtle, sincere take on “Have a Little Faith in Me” landed him.

Rejoice greatly, O daughters of Zion! It’s the end of the blind auditions! The glorious conclusion of being forced to watch the same outfit for weeks on end like a punishment in A Clockwork Orange! I am so happy. I did not like that weird bejeweled turtleneck on Christina. It was like some sort of Eleanor of Aquitaine body armor.Matt Cermanski, “Have a Little Faith in Me”I always like it when someone returns after being critically drubbed on a previous season. Matt sang “Teenage Dream” last year and no one turned around for him. Adam called his previous performance “weird,” which it was I guess it was? I don’t know if it was “weird” necessarily. Adam, Cee Lo, and Blake turned around for this kid and he picked Adam. Diego Roman Navaira, “Rebel Yell”Diego’s dad is a super-famous Tejano singer, but Diego styled himself...

With only eight spots left to fill on all four teams, the final night of ‘The Voice’ blind auditions proved to be the most intense yet.
The Voice coaches were extra picky Oct. 7 as the blind auditions came to a close. All four were looking for something special to round out their 12-member teams, and everyone — especially Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton – were willing to fight for the singers they wanted.

New York — Mitch Albom, one of the country's most popular authors, has a new publisher and a new novel coming this fall.
The author of the sentimental favorite "Tuesdays With Morrie" has a three-book deal with Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Albom's previous publisher was the Disney-owned Hyperion, where he had spent much of his career.
At Harper, Albom will be edited by Karen Rinaldi, a friend since the 1990s when she attempted – and failed_ to acquire "Tuesdays With Morrie" for Crown.
"I have never forgotten our first meeting and his subsequent success, which have always been bittersweet for me," Rinaldi said in a statement. "It is particularly satisfying to bring Mitch to Harper, where our team's expertise and spirit of collaboration will create an unprecedented focus and passion for the next phase of Mitch's exceptional writing career."
"We see stories the same way," Albom, 54, said in a statement.

Have a little faith, Joel McHale. A fan submitted a question to The Soup host via Facebook, to be answered during his appearance on Larry King Now, about whether or not McHale would ever entertain the idea of hosting the Oscars. In this week's episode of The Following, Trio Loco's holiday in the country comes to a bloody end, we learn more about Brass Cupcake Debra Parker's obsession with cults, and Claire finds that she has a new admirer.
We pick up where we left off: Probsgay Paul (Adan Canto) has a gun to Ryan's (Kevin Bacon) head, and Joey (don't know, don't care) is trying to decide how to best avoid being an actual character with independent thought processes rather than a plot device with toys. It’s safe to say that the theme of tonight’s episode of Modern Family was miscommunication. Phil threw a boys’ night that turned into a gay tryst with guest star Matthew Broderick, Claire lied to herself about the importance of Alex winning a scholastic bowl, Mitch overestimated the severity of Jay’s dilemma, Cam ignored his loved ones’ complaints that he’s too controlling, and Manny misread a gaze from a passing girl.

As Americans were wrapping up the four-day Thanksgiving weekend last night, some stayed away from their TVs, leading to depressed ratings for the broadcast networks. (We’ve yet to get numbers for The Walking Dead fall finale on AMC.) ABC may be having second thoughts about picking up the Hallmark Hall Of Fame original movie franchise after it was dropped by CBS at the end of last season. In the franchise’s first ABC outing, the telefilm Mitch Albom’s Have A Little Faith posted an underwhelming 1.1/2 in 18-49, down a whopping 48% from November Christmas, which aired on CBS on the same night last year. In 18-49, Have A Little Faith was by far the lowest-rated program of the night despite having the night’s highest-rated entertainment program as a lead-in: freshman drama Once Upon A Time, which slipped 11% from its last original two weeks ago to a series low but still robust 3.4/8. At 7 Pm,...

Edward Shearmur is scoring the upcoming TV drama Have a Little Faith. The movie directed by Jon Avnet (Fried Green Tomatoes, Up Close & Personal) is based on the best-selling book by Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven) and stars Laurence Fishburne as a Detroit teacher who overcame a life mired in drugs and crime. Bradley Whitford portrays Mitch Albom who met the reverend-in-recovery when he wrote newspaper columns about homeless people and homeless shelters. Anika Noni Rose and Martin Landau are co-starring in the Hallmark Hall of Fame production. Shearmur has previously worked with Avnet a number of times, including on the director’s most recent theatrical features 88 Minutes and Righteous Kill. Have a Little Faith is set to premiere on November 27, 2011 on ABC.
