- Holder can't find any of the files related to Rosie's death and learns that the entire case has been transferred to the County. Holder follows up but is told by County that the files never arrived. He thinks he knows where they are however. With Rosie's key, Linden goes to the construction site at the casino. She's convinced Rosie saw something there that led to her death. Mitch Larsen visits her old boyfriend David, whom Rosie had visited with questions about her mother. Stan Larsen meanwhile has to deal with son Tommy who's gotten into trouble at school. Darren Richmond meets with Nicole Jackson about the possibility of an endorsement but isn't prepared to meet her terms, even if it costs him the election.—garykmcd
- Holder sneaks back to the detective squad office looking for the key which he expects will be in Rosie's case file. Carlson surprises him and tells him the files have been moved to county, and he's been transferred there as well. When Holder defends Linden, Carlson tells him that she spent a month in the psych ward after a tough case.
Linden watches as Gil leaves headquarters and puts something into his car.
Linden and Holder drive. Holder can't get any info on the 'phone from anybody at County. Linden thinks Mayor Lesley Adams "put Gil up to this." They feel the must get the key that day.
Linden and Holder drop by to see Richmond. They suggest he might be able to help them get onto the casino ground to investigate because of his history working with Jackson. Richmond thinks Jackson is only interested in her own interests and won't work with him. Linden makes a comment about somebody needing to look out for Rosie.
Back in the car Holder says he'll make a few calls. Linden apologizes to him. He offers to let her crash his place. She declines and he goes inside. She finds something of Jack's and weeps in the car.
As Day 22 breaks, Mitch drops by to see David, Rosie's biological father. It seems that David is unaware of Rosie's death. He tells Mitch that Rosie took a bus trip to see him, looking for information about her mother. He thinks Rosie is "angry" and "lost." She had been asking whether or not he and Mitch were in love.
Stan gets a call from Tommy's school. He's been involved in a serious incident.
Holder wakes up Linden, who is clearly now sleeping in her car. He says County never received Rosie Larsen's case files: "They're gone."
Gil comes home to find his apartment ransacked and Holder sitting at a table eating some of his food. Holder implies that Gil has clearly done something with the files, then makes a threat before leaving.
While Holder was inside Gil's place, Linden stole the GPS from his car. They look at the last few destinations and think he might have stashed the case files someplace.
Richmond meets with Chief Nicole Jackson, who wants tax exempt status for a tribal gift shop, as well as any future projects the tribe builds on tribe land in the future. Adams isn't supportive and she wants to throw her support Richmond's way. When Richmond suggests the tribe allow the police to investigate as a show of good faith Jackson bristles and the talks break down. Much to Jamie's chagrin, Richmond leaves the table.
Tommy killed several baby birds after knocking a nest out of a tree in the school yard. Two teachers are very concerned about what this might mean, but Stan brushes it off as "boys will be boys." Regardless, Tommy is suspended for two weeks.
Holder recognizes one of the locations as having a hidden storage facility Gil used when he was having troubles with an ex-wife. In back they find a large garage filled with junk.
On the way to the car Stan and Tommy get in a huge fight. Tommy ends up saying he's glad Rosie died, hates Rosie and Stan. Stan slaps him across the face and responds that he hates Tommy too, and is only there because he has to be.
Richmond and Jamie argue over him bailing on Jackson and the tribe. Jamie thinks they don't have a chance without getting in bed with her, but Richmond doesn't want to win that way. Jamie walks out and Richomd tells Gwen "I'm going to lose this thing, aren't I?"
Linden learns over the phone that Jack is being spoiled by his father. The maid has told them she's willing to meet them after her next shift and let them into the casino. But they need to find the key in order to get to the 10th floor. Linden finds the key.
David tells Mitch that Rose had planned on leaving Seattle for good, leaving for California and "playing it by ear." Mitch is emotional and ends up telling David, in response to his question, that Rosie is not his daughter.
Stan apologizes to Tommy for losing his temper and asks him why he hurt the bird. Tommy doesn't know why he did it. He tells both boys he loves them and will never leave them. The ask if Mitch still loves them and says they miss her and Rosie.
Linden and Holder wait outside the casino to be let in and plan a way for Linden to get up to the 10th floor before being discovered by casino security.
Gwen meets with Adams. She references his desire to eventually seek national office and how important her father will be to that Endeavour. Gwen then threatens to expose something that happened between the two of them when she was 14. Adams tells her that her father already knows and leaves without seeming concerned.
Mitch calls Stan. She tells him about Rosie's plan to leave and asks about the boys. He asks how she is doing and when she is too emotional to answer he tells her he has to go.
The maid is late and Linden assumes she's scared. Linden decides to go into the casino on her own, an idea Holder hates. She makes her way through the casino and is only able to get past security because Holder walks in and causes a scene. When Casino Security arrived, including the woman who kicker Holder in the face, he leaves safely, allowing Linden to get to the elevator.
Linden gets to the 10th floor, then calls Holder to describe what she is seeing. Linden eventually goes out onto the balcony and sees a perfect view of the city. She realizes Rosie had been about to leave for good and wanted to say good-bye. With Holder telling her over the phone that she needs to leave, Linden tries to think of what Rosie might have witnessed that got her killed. She goes back inside the looks around, eventually finding a city hall key card underneath some rebar. Somebody sneaks up from behind Linden and knocks her unconscious.
