Just a re-hash...FAIL

Warning: Spoilers
The Hidden Frontier fan-amateurs must have concluded that their Star Trek fandom celebrity reputations and egos were now on the skids and that they had to make themselves stars before making this turkey after Hidden Frontier. With no real production value to speak of, this Z-movie amateur home movie cheapie was a lame excuse to develop a shlocky video by hyjacking and pirating a multi billion $ beloved copy righten & trademarked protected science fiction genre wholly owned and protected by CBS/ViaCom, called Star Trek. Their lack of ethics and anti-Star Trek motivations are obviously showing. They are hurting the franchise. They clearly biting the hand that feeds them.

As earlier commentators have noticed, their is no action at all in this incredibly bad video series (mock fan boy spaceship battles Ad Naseum); their scripts, unless you give credit to people walking aimlessly -- sometimes running, even -- around present day crew members homes and neighborhoods with a total lack of sets or even futuristic locations, or appearing on terribly lighted 'green screen' pirated backgrounds from other owner's software programs, or engaging each other in trivial or laughable dialog conversations preaching 'pet' political agendas. They exhibit (not act) all the emotions going from D to F-) Nothing much to engage the audience's emotions, time or attention.

Consequently, it was impossible not to doze off during this stinker, awaking only to witness the unsatisfactory pacing and arthritic performances of amateurs. When the words, "The End," finally appeared, I discovered that I was minutes closer to death with nothing positive to show for that realization. Don't bother, this is the worst ego trip of Trekkie fans on the Internet.

Not bad

The first episode was OK.

I thought overall it's not a bad attempt. However way to much CGI is used. They've used it for everything including background. I'm sure it was a budgetary reason but due to the low quality CGI you can tell. Id rather see a simple set if budgets an issue. Basic it's technically a military vessels. Less is more.

But once I got use to the CGI everywhere and the acting. The worse being Mara's future husband. Nerves I'm sure. It was a lot better. I enjoyed the political route this fan show did. The fact that even in the Utopian future of trek the politics is just as corrupt as politics of today. I hope there will be more episodes soon.

Jakob Solheim's Star Trek Federation one TV movie review
jakobpa6 October 2023
I think Star Trek Federation one is not only an excellent spin off for Star Trek hidden frontier, but also is excellent for a TV movie or even TV series series of its own. The reasons why are the show not only continues the story of the exploration of the briar patch has ties into other aspects of canon, Star Trek, and even sets the stage for further sci-fi, fanfiction for the Star Trek universe. It also gives the story from the perspective of the Federation capital, Federation, law enforcement, and even Federation news. Which even includes some aspects of the federation that very few fans get to see. I highly suggest a TV show, whether it be fanfiction or canonized Star Trek, entitled Star Trek Federation capital.
