A smart series that stays with you.

"My Gimpy Life" is has many memorable moments. That's what places it up there with the best television series. There are scenes and situations you all remember from classic series like WKRP or Mash and those select few shows that make a real impression. Those moments stay with you and become part of your most fun memories. Here in a web series you have the same thing. As others have said, you know it comes from a real life. But like all things in life, there are moments of hilarity and moments of frustration and pain all mixed together. Just watch all five and enjoy the ride. Much better than most 30 minute shows on broadcast TV, here it is all compact and fun. Yes, you leave wanting more and hoping Teal and this great crew get the chance to let you back into her world.

Starts Off With Setups Ends Well Rounded

The first season of "My Gimpy Life" is a series of episodes that is finding its voice. Many of the first season episodes contain setups for humor related directly to living life as a person who uses a wheelchair. They're fun and well done.

The second season comes on strong focusing on friends, relationships, and establishing a career in Hollywood. It also brings the humor from the first season and then adds more substance to the series. Ultimately the second season finds its voice and feels more focused and well rounded.

"My Gimpy Life" has a great cast and the two seasons of episodes can be seen together as a wonderful pilot episode for a series I would love to see funded and released on Hulu/Netflix

In short - well worth a watch!

One note, but played clearly

"Write what you know" goes the adage, and this is Teal Sherer's paean to the trials and tribulations of being Teal Sherer.

So, yes, it's self indulgent, but fortunately Sherer is personable enough that you'll care a little, even if you're not a wheelie good person yourself.

The appeal is strictly limited, but then so is the runtime. It can be enjoyed for what it is without over-analysing it, or pretending that it's the best thing ever made.

Such a pleasant show

It's extremely funny the whole way through. The acting was perfect and the writing was sharp / witty. One of the main topics is showing a handicapped actress's perspective on occupations, love lives and insults that I wouldn't have thought were insults. There were some answers to questions which I've always been too embarrassed to ask paraplegics and I'm glad most of them are answered during Season One. Web shows remind me of scifi shows where all my favorite actors usually have cameos at some time or another. My Gimpy Life has some beloved cameos by some of my favorite actors -- Felicia Day being one of them. She is even referred to as Felicia Day oddly enough. The main character Teal is also the same name as the actress, so it makes me wonder if she is playing herself on the show; if it is, that'd be awesome she seems pretty cool.

I'm really looking forward to the next season.

Refreshing
zenhead24 May 2016
It is so refreshing to see a show about a person with disability that not only stars an actual person with disability, but is written by that person. Teal is genuine, and funny, and shares the real issues around living a busy life in a wheelchair, with humor and compassion. She weaves her story lines around real life situations involving both able and disabled characters. I'm in a wheelchair myself, and I can easily relate to most of the situations Teal finds herself in. My Gimpy Life should serve as a template for other writers, actors and producers who want to explore topics and characters with disability. I have no idea why this show has not been picked up by one of the networks. It is a winner.

HILARIOUS show!

I love this show. I am disabled myself, but my able-bodied friends love it, too. It is a very unique view of Hollywood and the situations that she finds herself in are kind of horrible but also absolutely funny and spot-on. You would not BELIEVE the stuff people say to disabled people.

Teal is a wonderful, appealing actress. I love how completely real the characters feel, and how it busts and lampoons stereotypes. As someone who has never worked in The Biz, I also find it really interesting in a voyeuristic way, to see what auditions and things look like from the perspective of an outsider (not that she wants to be an outsider; but they treat her that way).

I also love the cameos and recurring famous people but I won't spoil it for you. Do not watch this on your computer while sipping water. You will be sorry!
