- Howie says that the 2011 Semifinals part 1 was *the* best episode in the six years so far. Inevitably, 'Results' is heart-breaking. After 6 have been dropped, Piers says both the 5th and 6th *would* belong in the Top 10 - but only one can.
- The first five finalists in Season 6 of "America's Got Talent" will be named tonight, but not before an hour of guest appearances and maybe just a little filler. Host Nick Cannon is wearing a particularly outrageous outfits, with a black tuxedo that includes white polka dots. After his weekly ribbing from PIers, Nick gets to unleash the line he's certainly been practicing since he put the jacket on: "I can rock polka dots because I'm smokin' dots."
To the results: Sandau Trio Russian Bar, Zuma Zuma, Matt Wilhelm and Team Illuminate. The Russian Bar trio disappointed everyone by taking the Russian Bar out of the act and Piers called it "the biggest suicide mission we've had on the show." Zuma Zuma got pretty solid reviews while Matt Wilhelm made a mistake the judges hoped wouldn't hurt him. And they all but handed Team Illuminate $1 million on the spot. In the least surprising news of the season, Team Illuminate moves on.
Be our guest: Demi Lovato stops by to perform her "hit single, 'Skyscraper,'" as Nick introduces it. Later, Prince Poppycock returns to the "AGT" stage. He's followed by The New Boyz, singing, "Better with the Lights On."
Back to the results: Pop Lyfe and Lys Agnes are called out together, which one has to believe will mean they're both going through. The judges loved both acts, and there's no reason to think America disagreed. Nick makes a point of saying "there's less than one-tenth of a percent between" the vote tallies for the two acts. And the act moving on is ... both!
Next, Melissa Villasenor, Miami All Stars and Kevin Colis come out next. THe judges loved Melissa, really loved Miami All Stars and didn't so much love Kevin, with PIers even buzzing him. Kevin promised there's another dimension to his singing, but it's unlikely he'll be demonstrating it on a TV show anytime soon. The next act going through is Miami All Stars.
With just one spot left, dancer Beth Ann Robinson, singer Daniel Joseph Baker and the West Springfield Dance Team are called to the stage. The judges really liked all three of these acts, so this will be interesting, but the odds would appear to be in Daniel's favor. But the first of the three acts to go home based on America's vote is ... Beth Ann Robinson.
Given a chance to make their cases to the judges, a member of West Springfield says they love to inspire other dancers and dance teams. Daniel tells them this has been the best time of his life and being on the "America's Got Talent" stage has been "the first time I feel like I belong."
Howie says he liked West Springfield the first time, not as much the second time, but then they brought it back. He says "Daniel ... you're a star." (I feel like I've heard that somewhere). But he's thinking this is "the year of the dance," and votes for West Springfield Dance Team.
Piers says they've loved West Springfield and thinks Daniel is great. But he has to break someone's heart tonight and, unfortunately, it's going to be Daniel's. It takes a moment for it to register with the dancers, but the two votes are enough to land them in the finals.
