Ah, there's a lot of fanbase joy fueling Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Episode 5. With Jonathan Frakes directing, Brent Spiner and Isa Briones back on screen, and a heist-like plot introduced, it's hard not to smile blissfully and just ride this shuttle as far as it can freefall.
Two significant elements to the mystery of the time fissure are now in play. Q intends to sabotage Renée Picard's influence on the future path of Earth's space exploration. Meanwhile, Dr. Adam Soong -- seen as a talking holographic monument in the Wake-Up World -- is also at a crucial crossroads in his research.
The drawback to presenting a plot with many moving parts in an episodic series format is that you can spend an hour flitting between four or five disparate settings to establish the foundational narrative. Through some elegant editing and very tight pacing, "Fly Me To the Moon" holds together well.

Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 5
With Star Trek: Picard episode 5, “Fly Me to the Moon,” Star Trek: Picard we’ve reached the midpoint of the season, and well into its third episode set in the year 2024. At this point, our time travel crew is doing their best to stay undercover, but they keep talking about old Star Trek plots nonetheless. Although this run of episodes has dabbled in referencing Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, at this point, the Trek Easter eggs are getting decidedly more obscure.
Here are the five biggest, and deepest cuts in Picard Season 2, Episode 5. Spoilers ahead.
The Borg Queen Imitating Voices
When the Borg Queen hijacks the voice controls of La Sirena’s computer, she tries out various voices first. Although the Borg Queen is not an android, this concept seems to reference the idea of different androids in Trek canon,...

Three years ago, Giveon landed a 15-minute tour slot opening for Baby Rose and Snoh Aalegra. There was only one problem: At the time, he had released just two original songs. Needing new tunes in a hurry to fill out his set, the R&b singer decided to write something quickly based on each city the tour landed in. One of these, the spare, chilling “Chicago Freestyle,” proved particularly popular when he posted a snippet to Instagram — until Giveon got a message from his manager, Simon Gebrelul, telling him to delete the clip.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t seen the first two episodes of “Euphoria” Season 2.
In HBO’s “Euphoria,” music isn’t just a supplementary factor to the plot — it’s arguably as important as the characters themselves. For proof, look no further than the titles of the episodes — most are named after songs, like Birdman and Lil Wayne’s “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” (Season 1 Episode 2), Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s “’03 Bonnie and Clyde” (Season 1 Episode 5) and Bob Dylan’s “Tryin’ to Get to Heaven” (Season 2 Episode 1). But more than anything, the show’s intense cocktail of high school drama, countless drugs, in-your-face violence and unrequited romance lends itself perfectly to a stellar soundtrack.
Complemented by a beautiful original score from Labrinth, music supervisor Jen Malone has expertly selected needle drops from across the musical spectrum to further the characters’ emotions and connect with the show’s audience, from...

The audio and visual quality of the episodes is good. The new dubs are better than the the ones from the 1990s. They do tone done some of the emotion - "hate" become "don't like" etc. Unfortunately the original end credits had to be replaced. They used to be different performances of Bart Howard's Fly Me To The Moon. Obtaining the licences for these 25 year old recordings probably proved too difficult (to do it you would have to track down all the musicians or their heirs).
The menu system on the Blu-ray is clear and easy to navigate. It doesn't waste you time with pointless transitions or annoy you with repetitious sounds or music.
There is a substantial amount of bonus material. Most of it is for hard core fans but there is not much for those who are new to the series or who want some explanatory content.

Any Squid Game fan knows this to be true: "Fly Me to the Moon" just hits different these days. The renowned jazz hit adopts a darker essence in the record-smashing drama's opening episode, soundtracking the first of many gory scenes as tracksuit-enrobed players attempt a fatal game of Red Light, Green Light. It's not Frank Sinatra's voice crooning about playing among the stars while contestants frantically sprint to the finish line, though - rather it's that of Joo Won Shin, an under-the-radar Korean singer that instantly captivated viewers with her angelic vocals.
A 25-year-old Seoul, South Korea, native currently residing in New York City, Shin landed the Squid Game singing gig at quite the serendipitous time. "I was in a very emotional place," she told Popsugar. "I was anxious, and I had lost a lot of my confidence in singing. I was questioning my life and doubting myself.

Though our current predictions suggest otherwise, John Legend heads in to this week’s “The Voice” finale with a decent chance of claiming his second trophy as a coach. To do so he and his last standing artist, John Holiday, will need to overcome their current 100/1 odds in our derby. Below we run down Holiday’s performances and consider how he could best Carter Rubin, the frontrunner from Team Gwen Stefani, as well as Team Kelly Clarkson‘s Desz and both artists from Team Blake Shelton, Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan, to win in a shocking upset.
Shocking the coaches is exactly how Holiday began the season. On the premiere episode it took three words (“Look at me…”) for Legend to turn his chair for the opera singer, and in doing so blocked he Kelly who was doubly shocked to learn she’d been blocked but also that it was...

In the lead-up to “The Voice” finale on Monday December 14, we polled viewers to see who they want to win. Their clear favorite in our Top 5 rankings of the season 19 artists is Carter Rubin, who enjoys a sizeable lead with 43% of the total tally as of this writing. He is being coached by Gwen Stefani, who is still looking for her first victory.
However Rubin better watch out for Ian Flanigan, who is being coached by reigning seven-time champion Blake Shelton. At 22%, he has polled almost a quarter of the vote in our best to worst power rankings. Remember, Flanigan won the Top 9 Instant Save. That sudden death showdown gave him another chance to impress “The Voice” viewers with his vocals on the Travis Tritt tune “Anymore.”

The Live Playoffs for Season 19 of “The Voice” concluded last Tuesday, leaving nine artists in contention for the title. One member from each team was voted through by America and each coach then had a chance to save another artist they wanted to move forward. That left Blake Shelton, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson each with two artists on their teams before the live instant save.
In that instant save leading into the semifinals, the remaining member from each team with the most audience votes earned a chance to compete. Bailey Rae from Team Legend ended up defeating Worth the Wait from Team Blake, Payge Turner from Team Gwen and Tanner Gomes from Team Kelly. That bumps Team Legend up to three contenders, but does that increase his odds of winning his second title?
Below are our power rankings of the nine artists competing for a spot in the Season 19 finale.

This just hit an awkward note for Liam Payne. In a "I Hate Watching Myself" segment for Esquire, the One Direction alum did just what the title suggest by revisiting videos of himself over the years, an activity he admittedly really hates to do. While he wasn't looking forward to it, we'd venture to guess things got a bit extra awkward when he came upon a clip of him in an X Factor audition, which featured none other than former judge and his future ex, Cheryl Cole. While he watched his serious younger self perform "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra, he also couldn't help but comment on the fact that Cole was there. "Let's...

Group B on “The Masked Singer” concluded their performances on Wednesday night and the last celebrity from the group to be sent home was none other than “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron, who had been disguised as the enigmatic Taco.

But did Taco deserve to get eliminated or should someone else have been sent home instead? Let us know what You by voting in our poll below and leaving your thoughts in our comments section.

Tom Bergeron just gave “The Masked Singer” viewers something to taco ’bout. The “Dancing with the Stars” host, who had performed in the Taco costume, was eliminated from “The Masked Singer” on Wednesday night.
Bergeron, who performed “Can’t Help Myself” by the Four Tops in the episode, called the experience “bizarre” but “wonderful.” “I think I lasted about as long as I deserve to,” he told Variety. “Maybe one or two would have been Ok, but I had no delusions about going the distance.”
If anything, Bergeron admitted that he was a bit shocked that he lasted longer than last week’s eliminated celebrity, Dionne Warwick. “That stunned the hell out of me,” he said.

Group B will be down to the final three contenders after the March 4 episode of “The Masked Singer.” Of the four celebrities contending for the Group B championship, our money is on the man in the Taco costume. He first rocked the house with his swinging version of the Frank Sinatra standard “Fly Me To the Moon” on the February 19 episode. He returned last week with another catchy cover of a classic, “Bossa Nova Baby” by Elvis Presley.
We’ve watched those two performances repeatedly as well as the clues videos for the Taco. Keep reading as we’ve got “The Masked Singer” spoilers for all of the remaining Group B contestants, including our best guess as to the real identity of the Taco.

Season 3 of “The Masked “Singer” has already seen four of the 18 contestants sent home: three from Group A and one from Group B (the Elephant who was Tony Hawk.)
Hawk was the first of the six celebrities competing in Group B to lose the audience vote. The remaining five contenders — Banana, Elephant, Frog, Kitty, Mouse and Taco — competed in the fifth episode, which aired on Wednesday, February 26. One of them will be eliminated at the end of the show while the other four will continue on in the competition in coming weeks.
Keep reading as we’ve got “The Masked Singer” spoilers for all of them, including our best guess as to the real identity of the Taco.

Someone’s got a tortilla chip on his shoulder.
On Wednesday, Fox’s The Masked Singer introduced six new contestants. Among these was Taco, whose smooth and effortless performance of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” earned him accolades from the reality singing competition’s judges. When it came time for them to pontificate about which celebrity might be under Taco’s shell, Robin Thicke tossed out the name of Fuller House star Bob Saget, and fellow judges Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg — as well as at least one TVLine reader in the recap’s comments— agreed that he might be right.

MaryAnn’s quick take… Cheesy Euro ballerina-porn cartoon is full of dated animation, cringeworthy attempts at humor, bizarre anachronisms, and a terrible message for little kids. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for movies about girls and women

She’s pregnant with their first child, but when British singer Cheryl first met future boyfriend Liam Payne, romance was nowhere on their radar.
The year was 2008, and Payne was just 14 years old at the time — auditioning in front of Cheryl, Simon Cowell and Irish entertainment manager Louis Walsh for the U.K. version of The X-Factor.
He would be cut a few rounds later, but Payne told judges he was “here to win” during his first audition. He then launched into a smooth cover of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” — even winking at Cheryl during his performance.

This month Vulture will be publishing our critics’ year-end lists. So far we've covered TV, movies, albums, songs, books, theater, art, classical performances, and video games. Today we add podcasts and concerts*. 1. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga at Radio City Music Hall (June 22)A stirring, stunning homecoming for two New York legends — one reigning and one rising. The night’s most goose-bump-inducing moment was a tie between an elegant, post-Oscar-performance-redemption Gaga slaying “La Vie en Rose” and the incomparable Tony belting out “Fly Me to the Moon,” dedicated to his old friend Frank. 2. Jenny Hval at Basilica Soundscape Hudson (September 12)Basilica Soundscape in Hudson is fast becoming one of my favorite music festivals, because unlike the sensory overload of larger gatherings, it's refreshingly chill.
