- Graduation is finally here, and McKinley High's class of 2012 looks to the past and present while contemplating the future.
- Open with Will (Matthew Morrison) giving the guys their assignment -- graduation songs. The seniors are supposed to pick songs to honor the underclassmen and the seniors songs to say good-bye. Will sings an emotional version of "Forever Young" to the kids.
Kurt (Chris Colfer) says he's become a more confident, socially-conscious person since arriving at McKinley, but is worried about being emotional. Burt (Mike O'Malley) meets him in the auditorium with his graduation gift. He said he's proud of their relationship and performs the "Single Ladies" dance Kurt did a few years ago. Kurt is happy and speechless.
Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt talk about what is going to happen after Kurt graduates. Kurt assures him they'll figure out the long-distance thing.
Kurt thanks the men in New Directions for making him feel welcome. All that matters is their friendship. He sings Madonna's "I'll Remember."
Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt, and Finn (Cory Monteith) make a pact to open their NYADA/Actor's Studio letters together.
Mercedes (Amber Riley) has a Hollywood gig lined up as a back-up singer. Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) has gotten a scholarship to Joffrey in Chicago.
Santana (Naya Rivera) is feeling self-conscious because she's going to Kentucky for college. She tells her mother she wants to go to New York instead of Louisville. Brittany (Heather Elizabeth Morris) is flunking her classes and is planning to re-do her senior year.
The seniors sing "You Get What You Give" to the kids who will be back.
Finn is concerned Rachel has been giving him a weird vibe and feels like she's settling. She tells him not to worry.
Finn is happy with his high school career and is no longer worried about his future. He thinks he nailed his Actor's Studio audition.
Will tells Finn he blackmailed him into joining Glee club by planning the pot in his locker all those years ago. Finn says "you are so much cooler than I thought you were".They laugh.
Finn tells Carole (Romy Rosemont) he wishes he could do more to help his father, who he thinks is a hero. His father is the only part of his life that hasn't fallen into place.
The underclassmen thank Finn for his sacrifices to New Directions and sing "In My Life" to him.
Quinn (Dianna Agron) says she doesn't feel emotional, perhaps because she is so proud of her friends. She's worried about Puck, who is trying to pass his test and graduate.
Quinn gives Rachel a rail pass so they can visit each other next year. Rachel says she thinks Puck (Mark Salling) was at his best when he was with her.
Quinn finds Puck and tells him she cares about him and thinks he needs to get his swagger back. She wants him to remember the guy he used to be and kisses him. The kiss seems to change Puck into a more confident guy, ready to attack his test.
Roz tells Sue (Jane Lynch) they have in common a dislike for Principal Figgins.
Sue tells Quinn she admires her for her perseverance. She thinks she'll go far in life. Quinn cries and hugs her.
Puck gets a C- on his test (A Puckerman A+), meaning he will graduate.
We see the graduation ceremony. Finn sings "Glory Days" as everybody gets their diploma.
Rachel, Kurt and Finn open their envelopes. Finn did not get in and looks destroyed. Ditto for Kurt, who didn't get in and also looks miserable. Rachel is last. She opens her letter and says "I got in."
The next day Rachel is surprised she's sad despite getting in. Her plan is to defer her acceptance for one year so she doesn't have to go to New York without Finn and Kurt.
Santana's mother gives her a large check. It was the money she was saving to pay for Santana's college. Santana tries to give it back, but her mother thinks she should either go to college or New York. She says the choice is hers.
Finn and Rachel leave for their wedding. Instead Finn drives her to the train station. He tells her they aren't getting married yet. She isn't deferring her acceptance. He tells her he's 100 percent sure she's something special and needs to leave. He tells her he's going to join the Army. He says he loves her so much he wants her to go to New York and be a star. If they're meant to be together, it will happen. Rachel and Finn sing "Roots Before Branches" as she walks to the train. The rest of the kids are there to send her off. We see her arrive in New York as the season ends.
