Multi-Universes

Who recalls the TV show "Sliders"? In it a group of people go through a machine that takes them to another earth where there are doubles of themselves. But things are of course not the same. As they try and "jump" back to their earth they keep landing on new earths. Turns out there are many many earths; all the same yet different.

I had to look up what came first. Marvel introduced it's Multiverse in 1971. Therefore "Sliders" did not come up with the concept.

I looked because this DC multiverse and Marvels remind me so much of that old show. Only difference is the original earth, our earth, is never "invaded" by doppelgangers. Other than the main characters jumping earths, everyone stays in their lane.

Personally I am tired of them in these stories. Esp Marvels where the existence of these worlds means no one can die because their double can just pop up (except for apparently Black Widow who is dead everywhere)!

Here it is not such a case but with "Supergirl" and "Arrow" existing in their own worlds... AND wasn't it established in "Supergirl" that ALL the other worlds were destroyed except hers? Does that mean this world is the one" And so then what is the Inverse?? An upside down?? Mirror dark??

Lousy writing??

First Bad Episode
jahanZ19979 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show but this episode was easily the worst. Same themes repeated again and again. Lucy doesn't trust her sister, Jordan isn't happy cause his girlfriend broke up with him, Kyle desperately tries to get back with his wife, Johnathon isn't happy cause he has no powers, etc etc. Absolute filler episode. I abhor the character of 'Lucy' and hope she is killed off brutally.

Finally what we all feared after a relatively strong start happened.
InkScribe9 June 2022
It became a soap like the rest before it did the same thing. Unfortunately I can't watch this anymore its very boring and feels like they are trying to think more things to squeeze in there in order ti get more and more episodes.

I struggled with this. Help me understand this...at the bottom please

Warning: Spoilers
There is perpetually hurt feelings in this show. You don't love me, you hung out with Jordan and not me, you told so and so such and such, you are dating him and not me, your don't like me because you don't eat breakfast with me, you don't think I'm good when I am,,,,,,every. Freaking. Episode. Write these people as humans for mercy's sake. Please. It's tried how all these characters need validation. Constantly. I mean. Constantly. Star Trek Discovery has a similar issue.

I really liked the training with Jordan and his dad.

Help me understand this:

Everybody goes outside to watch superpowered Villain Ally come down in a field.

Lucy is 6 evidently because she believes this woman with glowing eyes and not the family who any 2 year old can see has her back. But she believes in glowing eyes woman. Because Lucy is 6 years old.

Ally begins to suck the life out of Lois and Lucy's father Sam Lane. What do they do? They watch and yell from the spot they are standing in. Nobody runs up to kick her in the head. To pile on Ally. Nope. We're just going to watch and yell because that's what humans do when their father or mother is being slowly killed in front of them.

Superman hears the beacon. He flies in to save the day. He SEES Ally sucking the life from Lane and he takes no precautions, not even faster than a speeding bullet.

Ally begins to suck the life out of Superman. What do Lois and Lucy do? They watch and yell from the spot they are standing in. Nobody runs up to kick her in the head. To pile on Ally. Nope. We're just going to watch and yell because that's what humans do when their husband is being slowly killed in front of them.

Chrissy watches the scene. She seems not as surprised as someone would be watching a potential world changing event, no sir, she looks like she's watching two squirrels in the woods locked in loving embrace. She thinks 'hmm well I guess I should call someone.' Not panicked nor breathless. Just with the level of tension in calling an Uber.

John Henry and Natalie fly in. It takes them literally forever.

(Superman and John Henry can fly around the world in minutes but to fly from the Kent farm to the woods seems to require an overnight stop over in Minnesota and a good nights sleep. It takes them both forever to get there.) Help me understand this scene because none of it makes sense.

Ultimately nobody does anything to Ally and she just kinda flies away. Is Superman going to die? No. We're not even a little concerns. Jonathan will give a blood transfusion or Supes brother.

That said, I do like the show, it's just a little too teen whiny and sulk. And even the adults do teen whiny and sulk. You know kids are watching this right? They will think this is how people behave in life all day. Yikes.

How much family drama can one sci-fi episode contain?
JiS8712 June 2022
Half way in in this episode, and I already got a headache of watching this soap.

The first season was pretty great with a nice balance between family and work/sci-fi (read: being Superman) but the latter now gotten totally moved to the background after a decent Bizarro start of the 2nd season.... Teenagers acting like adults 24/7 is btw always a great way to show on tv!

Time to wrap this stuff up, please.

All Is Lost
Prismark105 March 2023
With an episode title called 'All Is Lost.' I reckon things are not going to turn out well for Superman.

As Ally Allston plans to merge both versions of Earth. There are flashbacks as to how she manipulated Lucy Lane.

In the present day Lucy Lane is an important cog in Ally Allston's plans. She needs Lucy to call Superman so Ally Allston can overwhelm him.

Until then Lois Lane and General Lane make another attempt to try to get through Lucy. Unfortunately she is lost in the cult of Ally Allston.

It was notable how quickly Ally's members of the cult started to drift away just because she was absent for a few weeks. Only Lucy remains as the loyal acolyte.

The confrontation between Superman as well General Lane and Ally Allston was not well directed. With bystanders just standing around and screaming.

This Has Turned Into Batwoman Levels Of Bad
iansyard13 September 2022
After a fantastic debut season, the second season has gone down the pan so fast by headlining minor teen acting characters of no real importance to some lofty gravatas where they seemingly come across as adults with adult problems. Superman is sorely reduced to some kind of fetch quest character now being sent here and there, and Lois fully becomes realised as the main figurehead of the Kent household. This episode of season 2 episode 13 just broke my resolve to carry on after this season to watch any more. A scene that deliberately mirrors the notorious Batwoman scene of Kate stating the Batman suit will be perfection - "when it fits a woman" is present in this episode with John's teenage daughter being better and making a far superior suit than his just ended it for me, for good.
