Who recalls the TV show "Sliders"? In it a group of people go through a machine that takes them to another earth where there are doubles of themselves. But things are of course not the same. As they try and "jump" back to their earth they keep landing on new earths. Turns out there are many many earths; all the same yet different.
I had to look up what came first. Marvel introduced it's Multiverse in 1971. Therefore "Sliders" did not come up with the concept.
I looked because this DC multiverse and Marvels remind me so much of that old show. Only difference is the original earth, our earth, is never "invaded" by doppelgangers. Other than the main characters jumping earths, everyone stays in their lane.
Personally I am tired of them in these stories. Esp Marvels where the existence of these worlds means no one can die because their double can just pop up (except for apparently Black Widow who is dead everywhere)!
Here it is not such a case but with "Supergirl" and "Arrow" existing in their own worlds... AND wasn't it established in "Supergirl" that ALL the other worlds were destroyed except hers? Does that mean this world is the one" And so then what is the Inverse?? An upside down?? Mirror dark??
Lousy writing??
