Many fans assumed this video was made in response to negative criticism Doug Walker received over his Let's Play episode that preceded this one. They quickly voiced their support and Walker responded by saying the negative criticism was just as much from him as he was unhappy with the finished product, but encouraged those who enjoyed it to continue to do so. Walker went on to state, "I just think it's always good to be able to mock yourself and never take this stuff TOO seriously."
According to Doug Walker in his commentary of his Let's Play, the original opening of this video was a little different from the finished product. Originally, after the Critic apologized, Douchey McNitpick was to appear and somewhat subtly take shots at the fans, saying things to the effect of "how dare you give us free entertainment and make one bad video." However, site CEO Michael Michaud nixed the idea and suggested Walker address the matter in a more straight fashion, and so the opening was re-shot to include Chester A. Bum, in lieu of Douchey, telling the Critic he needs to atone for his sins.
