Max is a “handsome” and “regal” camel, according to his handlers at the Bronx Zoo. Unfortunately, he’s just developed an abscess on the top of his head — call in the wigmakers.
Abscesses can be uncomfortable, and this particular one is probably also not a good look in front of the lady camels.
As a solution, the zookeepers chronicled on Animal Planet’s “The Zoo” have made Max a toupee to wear. Yes, for real.

The piece, made out of shed camel wool that zookeepers have collected, will help keep the bugs away. Some fly repellent cream should help it stay in place.
“Ok, time for the hairpiece,” one calls out in TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek preview of Sunday’s Season 3 premiere.

Neal James, the bushy bearded “Banjo Man” from the Animal Planet series The Call of the Wildman, has died. He was 55 and had been battling cardiac issues, according to the Washington County Coroner’s Office in his home state of Kentucky.
The coroner said James died Feb. 1 at approximately 1 a.m. at his home in Kentucky. A video clip of his music is above.
James was the sidekick to series star Ernie Brown Jr., aka “The Turtleman.” The reality show aired from 2011 to 2014 and followed the exploits of a Kentucky nuisance animal removal business. Brown and James would catch and release, and James’s easy-going style became a fan favorite.
Beyond the show, James also worked at the Isaiah House in Willisburg, Kentucky, helping recovering addicts.

An investigation by Mother Jones accuses the Animal Planet reality show Call of the Wildman of being staged and of committing animal cruelty in faking the show. The series follows a wildlife rescuer who uses his bare hands to capture wildlife that has gotten too close to areas inhabited by humans. However, Mother Jones says that the animals have been placed for Call of the Wildman scenarios, sometimes putting the safety of the animals at risk.
With CBS’ soaps and Days of Our Lives fates secured Deadline says that the remaining soap, General Hospital, will also continue next season, noting that the genre is experiencing a resurgence, with all shows gaining viewers.
ABC has ordered a seventh season of Wipeout.
TV Guide reports that frequent Ricky Gervais-collaborator Stephen Merchant will appear on Modern Family‘s Vegas vacation episode. He’ll play a hotel butler struggling to manage the Pritchett clan’s many requests.

A new online petition accuses the Animal Planet series “Call of the Wildman” of engaging in cruelty to animals, and is asking the network not to endanger animals in the name of ratings. Citing an investigation by Mother Jones magazine, the petition — launched on Care2.com by a petitioner identified as Lauren S. — takes particular exception to the treatment of three baby raccoons who were used on the show. According to the petition, the raccoons “nearly died from being kept away from proper care by the production team.” According to Mother Jones, the raccoons arrived at a wildlife center...
