The movie is supposed to take place during the very first years of the 1960's. However, as Monica Z. and the band tour the country in a bus you can hear the Swedish pop group Tages performing "Ms MacBaren" from the loudspeakers. This song was actually not released until 1966.
Set in the late 1950s or early 1960s at the beginning of the movie, Monica rides in a bus advertising Luxor color TV sets which were first sold in 1969.
In the beginning of the movie when Monica is walking outside a house in Hagfors, you can see a glimpse of a LCD screen behind a window.
In connection with the 1963 ESC show, The Supremes' chart buster "My World is Empty without You, Babe" is heard in the background. The song was released three years later, i.e. in 1966.
