Promising young filmmaker Billy Battle achieves an impressive level of depth in this experimental short film. He succeeds in creating an ominous piece, and he demonstrates that his keen instincts for directing macabre material run deeper than the obvious good use of effective sound and lighting techniques. The writer/director paid close attention to the finest details and nuances in order to evoke the essence of the characters and express his vision of the story in an extremely limited length of time. "Godhood" earned the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood's award for Best Experimental Film 2012, and it was clearly deserved. Battle is off to a spectacular start and will be on my radar for new artistic talent.
