An unparalleled masterpiece, both underrated and full of heart

John Cleese's Alimony Tour is a heartfelt and unparalleled masterpiece. An autobiographical romp through Cleese's acting career. The story of one of the truly most talented, intelligent, genre changers of comedy history.

The show is a loving tribute to those he worked with, from his mother to Graham Chapman and beyond.

Some very special moments with behind the scenes looks and secrets to how some of his most popular and controversial works got made.

I loved every minute of it.

Thank you John Cleese, you magnificent magician of comedy.

Warning: Spoilers
I was quite keen to get hold of this as it's some of the only, as I thought, new material any of the pythons have done for a while.

Unfortunately this show is terrible. A lazy rehash of John's comedy career with a few, not trotted out as often, anecdotes and nods to to fellow contributors along the way. Truly painful to watch as a once great comedian thoroughly phones it in for a paycheck. Admittedly he does tell the audience this at the top of the show but I stupidly thought he was joking.

If John put as little effort into his marriage as this stand up show, I can see why she left him.

Nothing new

Warning: Spoilers
It's really a pity that John Cleese has nothing new to contribute to the world of comedy any more, just the same old anecdotes about his career for the millionth time, with some clips mixed in from his otherwise brilliant shows and films that we have also seen numerous times.

The audience seemed to like this setup though, and if you're interested in an autobiography in a stand-up format, you're probably going to enjoy it, however if you're looking for new material, the show might leave you disappointed.
