All details about 1987 Brazilian football championship and its controversies
Well done and very detailed and informative documentary about 1987 Brazilian football/soccer championship, which had Flamengo as champions and also led to a long judicial controversy that has not fully ended ever since. It is interesting to see that Flamengo, with Zico and other great players and coach, did not have good results in the first half of that tournament, but improved a lot in the final part until turning to be the best team and the champions. There are a lot of footage and interviews providing all details and stories about each moment and each game, what is fascinating for the fans and for those interested in the history of sport, but may not be so interesting for other spectators. Also concerning the controversy, the film presents footage, information and interviews about each event before, during and after the tournament: Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) decided not to organize a championship, the most popular clubs decided to organize a league and got the sponsors, CBF then decided to organize a parallel tournament and wanted that the top teams of each played against each other, what was accepted by the representative of the clubs (Eurico Miranda) but not by the clubs themselves, CBF decided that Sport Recife was the champions, there were many different decisions on court along the years, São Paulo FC changed their mind and declared that was the fist club to win Brazilian championship five times (then, that Flamengo was not 1987 champions)... to resume: a chaos. It is a useful film to understand the bizarre sequel of misfortunes in Brazilian football outside the field from 1986 until decades afterwards (and what happened in that tournament that most people understand that Flamengo was champions but there are also many others who sustain that sport Recife won, in a very uninformed debate). It is also a quite amusing movie to see a lot of great Brazilian players (not only from Flamengo) in historic matches and telling nice stories: Zico, Bebeto, Leandro, Renato, Taffarel, Andrade, Zinho, Leonardo, Jorginho, Aldair...
