When the character of C. G. E. Mannerheim is being interviewed, only his left hand (with a cigarette) is visible and his voice is heard.
Original, almost 8,000-page court documents were adapted to a 100-page screenplay. The film was shot in real locations in the House of the Estates (Finnish: Säätytalo) in Helsinki.
A companion studio discussion (relating to real historical events) "Perspektiv på krigsansvarighetsprocessen" aired in November 11, 1972. It also features screenwriters Nils-Börje Stormbom and Johannes Salminen.
