Dr Abbot (Jeff Rawle) a Cambridge academic is excited to have the loan of a valuable painting. Modigliani's 'Reclining Nude.'
They are queuing round the block to view it. That includes Will, Geordie and his wife Cathy.
While Dr Abbot speaks to the crowd, a group of Cambridge female students stage a protest. They take their tops of to demonstrate hypocrisy towards women in art.
Nude females in paintings are admired. Women in campus are told by men what to wear.
The Cambridge Porters gives chase and Geordie arrests one of the women. In the melee, the painting is stolen.
Later, one of the Porter's Peter Delaney is later found dead. He was new to Cambridge, only worked there a few months.
Geordie discovers that his wife Sheila is staying in squalid conditions. Porters are meant to be single, so Peter lied to obtain the job.
Before long Sheila becomes the main suspect, especially as the painting is found in the vicinity.
I just did not think that this was a memorable story. Most of the characters were caricatures from Dr Abbot onwards.
As for Will and Leonard. Both seems to be grouchy for inexplicable reasons that seems to be out of character.
