- Jon is brought before Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall, while the Night's Watch survivors retreat south. In King's Landing, Tyrion asks for his reward. Littlefinger offers Sansa a way out.
- Beyond the wall, those of the Night's Watch that have survived try to go south to warn everyone of what is coming. Samwell is taken to task for not having sent the ravens. Jon Snow meets Mance Rayder, the King beyond the Wall and is accepted among them. In King's Landing, Tyrion's face has healed and Cersei pays him a visit worried about what he might say about her to their father. Tyrion enlists Bronn, now a knight, to protect him. He doesn't get much satisfaction from his father who promises him better living quarters but not much else. Lady Margaery is cementing her place at court. Sansa meanwhile may have a way out of King's Landing courtesy of Lord Baelish. Davos Seaworth has survived and is rescued. He returns to Dragonstone intent on stopping Melisandre but soon finds himself in the dungeons. Robb Stark arrives at Harrenhal to find all of its occupants dead. Daenerys arrives in Astapor looking for an army. Ser Jorah tells her the Unsullied are the best fighters in the world.—garykmcd

- Sam is saved from a wight by Ghost first and then by Mormont and a few survivors and Mormont tells that they need to return to The Wall to warn people that danger is coming to Westeros. Jon Snow meets Mance Rayder and he questions why Snow wants to join them and Mance is satisfied with his explanation. Tyrion has a meeting with his father that does not believe that he saved King's Landing from Stannis. Littlefinger offers to help Sansa to Leave King's Landing with him while Ros advises Shae to take care of Sansa and to not trust in Littlefinger. Davos is rescued from an island by Salladhor and he asks to be bought to Dragonstone with the intention of killing Melisandre. Robb and his army arrive at Harrenhal and find all prisoners murdered and only one survivor. Daenerys arrives at Astapor and she negotiates slave-soldiers known as Unsullied with the trader Kraznys mo Nakloz. - After a disrespectful visit from Cersei, probing what he'll tell their father about her and Joffrey, new Hand Tywin haughtily laughs away 'unfortunately not proven' bastard son and predecessor Tyrion's appeal for gratitude and reward with the ancestral castle for his part in the defense of the capital. While king and regent hide, Maergery's charitable military orphanage visit completes the Tyrell presence as prominent courtiers. Newly knighted Bron becomes Tyrion's guard again, for a raise. Anxiously Jon appeals to Wildling king Mance Rayder, an amused but suspicious fellow human, his bid to join their fight against the Undead winter monsters. The other Night Watch survivors realize, no raven having been sent by Samwell, they must rush back to warn the Wall it's time to prepare all for the ultimate defense. Salladhor's pirate ship rescues Davos Seaworth from a desert rock island and drops him at beaten king Stannis's castle Dragonstone, where his failure to discredit the red witch and her pyre-obsessed religion 'of the light' gets him locked up. After her remaining loyal Dothraki puke their guts out aboard, Danaerys and Jorah reach the city Astapor, where Kraznys mo Nakloz ruthlessly trains the unconditionally loyal 'Unsullied' slave soldiers for sale, which they want all 8,000 yet ready. Sacked guard commander Barristan Salmy is just in time to save her from a magical attempt on her life and offers his services 'to atone for his failure'. - Some of the Night's Watchmen, including Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) (who was saved by Jon's dire-wolf, who kills the white walkers who attack Sam) and Joer Mormont (James Cosmo), survive the White Walkers' attack and pledge to return to the Wall to warn the Seven Kingdoms. Joer knows that if they fail, every one they know and love will be dead before the winter is done. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is brought before Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), the "King beyond the Wall", and pledges his loyalty to the Wildlings. Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) is Rayder's 2nd in command. Jon tells Rayder that he wants to join the Wildlings because he saw what happened at Caster's keep and the thing that took the boy. when he told his Lord commander, he already knew, but did nothing. Mance has giants fighting for him in his army.
Tyrion asks Bronn to return to his service. Bronn demands double his usual payment. Cersei (Lena Headey) is nervous about Tyrion's meeting with Tywin, as she fears that Tyrion knows that it was Gold cloak working on her orders who tried to kill him in battle. A scarred Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) tries to get Casterly Rock from Tywin (Charles Dance). Tywin is angry that Tyrion defied him and brought a whore into his bed. Tyrion says that he organized the defense of the city, he bled in the mud, all while Joffrey cowered behind the castle walls. He demands gratitude in the form of Casterly Rock. Tywin agrees to give Tyrion a better room to stay, a suitable position with time, and even a wife if he manages to behave. But he will not give Tyrion Casterly Rock, as Tyrion killed his mother coming into the world. Tywin calls Tyrion spiteful creature, full of envy, with a low cunning. Tywin will not let Tyrion turn their family castle into a whorehouse.
Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) engages in charity work with the orphans of King's Landing (the orphan children of all the soldiers who died in the Stannis invasion, while defending the city). Joffrey overrules Cersei (who wants Margaery to stop her work with the lower classes of the city, as that put Joffrey's life in danger) in allowing Margaery to continue with the work, especially now that the Tyrells are helping the capital with 100 wagons of food a day to prevent mass starvation. Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) offers to help Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) escape King's Landing. Sansa is ready, and Petyr tells her to be ready to leave at a moments notice. Ros (Esmé Bianco) advises Shae (Sibel Kekilli) not to trust him.
Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) (was stranded on a rock after the wildfire explosion in the invasion of King's Landing) is rescued by Salladhor Saan (Lucian Msamati), the pirate. Davos's son Matthos was killed in the explosion. Salladhor does not want any more connections with Stannis Baratheon as he was promised riches and glory in exchange for 30 ships. Salladhor says that Stannis is a broken man and only see Melisandre. Davos returns to Dragonstone (Stannis's castle), where he unsuccessfully tries to kill Melisandre (Carice van Houten), who blames him for convincing Stannis (Stephen Dillane) not to let her join the battle (which led to death of thousands of men by wildfire explosion), and is imprisoned.
Robb (Richard Madden) attacks Harrenhall castle (assigned to Petyr for his loyalty), but finds no resistance as the Lannisters had already abandoned the castle after pillaging it and killing all the Northerners living there. Robb inherits a ghost town.
In Essos, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) arrives in the city of Astapor (A Valyrian town) to buy an army of brutally-trained slave soldiers (only 1 in 4 survive the brutal training), the "Unsullied" from their master Karznys. Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) is Daenerys's translator when she lands in Astapor. There are 8000 unsullied soldiers. The warlocks of Qarth attempt to assassinate her, but she is saved by Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) (the Gold Cloak who was fired by Cersei and Joffrey when they ascended to the throne), the former Kingsguard commander, who pledges his loyalty. Barristan says he was sworn to protect her family, but he failed. He begs her forgiveness.
