This 200th episode retrospective was broadcast one and only time on March 4th, 1979 and has never aired in syndication. It is, however, available on the season 9 and complete series DVD sets, as well as all streaming platforms that feature the show (Amazon Prime, IMDB TV, Tubi, YouTube, etc.)
For unknown reasons, Danielle Brisebois wasn't introduced with the rest of the cast. (Note: The reason that Brisebois wasn't introduced was most likely due to this retrospective not including any scenes from the current season).
The episode aired on the network Catchy TV on Dec. 8th 2023 days after the passing of 101 year old creator Norman Lear (1922-2023) to honor the creator and his lasting legacy to television. Lear passed away Dec 5, 2023.
This episode aired on GetTV on Thursday November 22, 2018 (Thanksgiving) at 6 p.m. eastern time.
This retrospective is widely criticized for featuring episode clips only from season 6 onward, which is considered among fans to be the "weaker" point of the series. However, in the show's fifth season in 1974, there was a 100th episode retrospective hosted by Henry Fonda, that has always been shown in syndication. That particular retrospective featured clips of episodes from the first 5 seasons that have been excluded from this special. (Note: This retrospective actually encompasses clips from the first eight seasons of the series, showing at least one clip from the first season. There were even a couple of scenes repeated from the 100th episode retrospective).
