Leanne!
Laqshayaroraofficial3 March 2023
This episode is quite possibly the most thrilling and best episode of this series so far. The previous few new episodes had been progressing at a slow pace, and I started to worry about the show's renewal for season 5. The show had begun to feel more like a horror comedy show rather than a horror show, but this episode changed everything. Although it started slowly, as the episode progressed, it became more and more thrilling, building up to a truly gripping climax that left me wanting more.

The fast-paced and fantastic plot of this episode was executed brilliantly, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. I was particularly impressed by the last scene between Leanne and Dorothy. With just two episodes remaining, I am eagerly awaiting to see how the story unfolds and how the show's creators will wrap up this intense and suspenseful storyline.

Tight...

Warning: Spoilers
Some eps this season have meandered this ep did not. It got right to it and kept with it till the very end. What is it, you ask?

Drama. Suspense. Horror.

Sean and Julian deliver Leanne to Old Uncle George in the basement tunnels. Only now he has two "helpers" with him. Both men truly think he is just going to take Leanne and "deprogram her" but hesitate when they see the acolytes. Regardless, they still think they are doing what is best and leave her with them... tied up and gagged!

Poor old George almost had Leanne about to end herself and "save the world" when he says the wrong thing! Oops indeed. It is he and his helpers who are ended! Soon after, Sean and Julian are out of commission; being sent off to the hospital with a whispered "You will never enter this house again"!!

Now we have Dorothy and Leanne alone with Jericho.

Two eps are left and no fifth season is apparently planned. Two half hour eps to tie up all that has gone on for 4 seasons! Can it be done?? And how do we want this to end?? Dorothy and Jericho alive and surviving Leanne? Or Leanne being the survivor of this; claiming Jericho and having the house (somehow)??

Leanne has indeed changed. She has grown much more powerful (to the reviewer here who said she was once beaten by Dorothy) and seemingly, according to Uncle George, no one can end her but herself. Thus I do not see how anyone can overcome her unless a Deus Ex Machina type of external force pops up to aid them.

Then again the show could leave us wondering; not really having a conclusive end but a open ending where we the loyal audience is left to decide for ourselves what happens! This type of unfulfilling end has been used many times when show\film writers\runners paint themselves into a corner.

Or... it was all a dream in Dorothy's devastated troubled mind and there never was a Leanne, or a doll, and she mentally cracked over the guilt of killing her son!

We shall see!

Bit of a Letdown for Me
Mehki_Girl4 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasn't serious enough. It had either bad acting, too over the top moments; but really more like bad direction and writing. They need to kill the laugh. A sly look and smile would be better.

It's a fine line that the show was treading and now it's tipped right into the occult, rather than staying with ambiguity. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I want answers. But then I want a bit of mystery to ponder and debate.

It did have some really shocking moments. Leanne is going full tilt now and I always thought that no matter what, she wouldn't harm the family, at least no more than what she did to make Dorothy have to stay home and closeby.

Yeah, I'm ambivalent and a little sad that there's only two more episodes to go.

Is the end game she and Dorothy live happily every playing momma and child?

Stay tuned...!

Tunnels

Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate how absurd this show has been since day one and how it has given us a premium quality supernatural series, something that we absolutely need more of.

This was not up to snuff though and I feel like it was shock value just for the sake of it. Remember when Dorothy beat up Leanne and buried her in the basement? And now no one can stop Leanne at all?

I do want to see how it all ends, but this kind of jumped the shark for me as it is now the entire family lined up against Leanne. I don't feel like that is the ideal formula for creating television, a one vs. 10 mentality, but we shall see.

The Two Womans left
AvionPrince163 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So Sean and Julian think they get Leanne out but she will get away and kill uncle George. We understand also that Leanne have strange power and with that storm she can manage it? I dont really know but sometimes the TV show put me off multiple times. Its pretty weird how Leanne turn into something more devil and more frightening. Basically, Sean and Julian get hurt and now there are only Leanne and Dorothy in the house. The main thing really interesting is what will really happen to Dorothy; because Leanne is mainly obsessed with her so no way she is gonna hurt her. But also what will Dorothy do to save the situation? I mean it begin to have an interesting situation with the two characters left and make us wondering what will happen. But for now its pretty just questions and theories. Need to see more.

Really Dumb Direction the show has gone in
onikage-493247 March 2023
I'll preface this by saying this show has become a trainwreck. I wish I could see past the flaws and enjoy it in it's current state, but this isn't a show with a low budget on EW or a secondary streaming service . This is on Apple TV+ and it should be judged accordingly.

With that said, on with the Non-Spoiler Review: Sean and Julian (having somehow fallen for Uncle George's lies, undoing all the growth we've seen this season) are trying to turn Leeane over to the Church so she can be de-programmed. Julian has a few braincells left that make him somewhat leery of the plan at least. Meanwhile Dorothy's screen time is dedicated to her moving around the home on her own, intentionally wasting several minutes of runtime.

Lastly, this episode ruins Leeane's character far more than I could have imagined was possible. At the start of the Season she's battling against a few dozen cultists, 7 episodes later and she's declaring war on God (which was hinted at in the Preview but I was really hoping was Out of Context). Let that sink in before you watch this disaster. Even the Church thinks Leeane is a "threat" to God apparently.

They're building towards a Finale of Dorothy vs. Leeane. Super-powered being vs. Middle-aged cripple.

How did we get here? This was a great story of a family unable to cope with loss that degenerated into a awful show about a cosmic battle of Good vs. Evil.

The only good thing about the show is that there's 2 episodes left.
