At the Diaz apartment, Miguel has made an apology breakfast for his mom and grandma, as well as Johnny, but the family is just happy to have him home safe. Carmen is suddenly sick in the bathroom, though Miguel and Johnny assume it's due to Miguel's poor cooking. At the LaRusso house, Sam is hanging around when Anthony comes in, apparently in some distress. He starts to mention his troubles with a Cobra Kai student, but at the mention of karate Sam becomes flippant and annoyed with the subject, and her brother. Anthony asks if her attitude has something to do with another boyfriend running away, and Sam leaves to hang out with Moon and Yasmin.
At Miyagi-Do, Daniel is certain that Silver's threat is a sign of worry. Chozen remarks that Silver promised to call in old friends, and asks Daniel if he knows of any that can get to first. Only one name comes to mind, Silver's minion that he hired to torment and challange Daniel as part of his scheme in 1985: Mike Barnes. Carmen tells Johnny that she has been getting sick a lot lately. While she initially attributed it to stress, she now has reason to believe she might be pregnant. Johnny is flabbergasted, and tries to keep it together while he and Carmen leave to get a test.
At the tattoo parlor, Eli gets a new lotus flower tattoo to cover up his old grim reaper, and to symbolize his new beginning with Miyagi-Do. Demitri and Miguel are with him, Miguel anxious over waiting for Sam to text him back. When the text does come, Eli and Demitri, who's girlfriends are Moon and Yasmin, read a bad meaning into it. The three boys over analyze the text, arguing over what response to send. Meanwhile, Sam, Moon, and Yasmin are also over analyzing Miguel's texts. The boys worry that Sam's response is a sign that she is planning to break up with Miguel, and take him to find something nice for her to turn it around.
Daniel and Chozen find Mike Barnes, leaving his house dressed for business. They follow him to a loading dock entrance, and see he has brought a variety of power saws with him. He enters the dock, passing a group of large muscle men on his way. Daniel decides to sneak in and follow him, hoping to get to him before Silver can, and tells Chozen to wait outside. He avoids the hired men and finds Barnes on the phone in a secluded back room, brandishing his saws and seemingly making threats to hurt the karate students. Assuming Mike is talking to Silver, Daniel barges in and takes the phone, demanding Barnes stand down and telling "Silver" that he's on to him. To his surprise, the voice on the other end of the phone is a woman's. It turns out the conversation was completely out of context, as Mike, who owns the furniture store connected to the loading dock, was referring to dismantling and starting over on a set of wooden chairs.

Moon takes Sam and Yasmin to a therapy spa for the day, and suggests the sensory deprivation pods as a way to reconnect with themselves. Mike shows Daniel around the furniture store he and is wife run. Daniel apologizes for making assumptions, but Mike insists the apologies are his alone to make. He deeply regrets his behavior in the 80s, and admits that he has wanted to make amends for many years. He tells Daniel that after his dishonorable acts in the 1985 All-Valley Tournament, he was banned from all karate events. He was given a second chance by his late father-in-law, who taught him how to make furniture, and left him and his wife the business when he passed. Daniel is impressed at Mike turning his life around so successfully, and is relieved that Silver has had no contact with him. Outside, Chozen worries that Daniel has been gone too long, and fearing the worst, goes in after him. Back inside, Daniel admits its nice to have a former rival that isn't interested in fighting him, but while they playfully throw punches, Chozen charges in and attacks Barnes. Daniel tries to explain as Barnes defends himself, but both men accidentally hit Daniel while trying to get to eachother. Daniel is able to break them up, but Chozen, realizing his mistake, shows them that he has already taken down Mike's moving men on the dock. The three former enemies nurse their bruises and Daniel asks Mike if there is anything he can tell them that might help them bring Silver down. Mike tells him about the contract he had written detailing his share of Cobra Kai Silver promised him for terrorizing Daniel in '85. He no longer has the contract, but he has the name of the lawyer Silver used in his shady dealings. Daniel leaves a voicemail for the lawyer and is hopeful this is the turning point they need.
