Murder she wrote, meets the pink panther meets Benny hill.

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this film. It's got everything a Sunday flick such have. AND, I am able to actually watch it wit family, despite a few sex jokes. It's a good old fashioned story, the comedy is much in the style of the late, great Peter Sellers. The character of Mordecai is superb. Mind you, if you are not familiar with English aristocracy and their obsession with being waited on by their servants, you won't find it quite as funny. For me, I found it funny as hell, at so many levels.

It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Think in terms of Johnny English meets Benny Hill! If you can watch it without expecting it to be anything else than a comedy, then you're going to love it. The screenplay could have been a little better, there are moments where they could have milked the situation a little more. But other than that, it was a fun ride.

And I thought Depp did a superb job at finally acting his age!

If you are into cheap comedy, this isn't for you.

Good fun

If you don't expect too much of this film, you'll find it an enjoyable piece of fluff which will happily fill a couple of hours. As far as I'm concerned, Johnny Depp could read the Yellow Pages and I'd still be entranced; as one of the finest actors of our generation, he is seriously - and sadly - underrated. Mr D gives a fine performance as Mordecai, with wit and excellent comedic ability, a crisp British accent, and a style not unlike that of Leslie Phillips. I was also surprised to find myself enjoying Gwyneth Paltrow's performance, it's a shame that her acting talent is over-shadowed by interest in her personal life by the media. Enjoy the film for what it is, a bit of fluffy fun.
