Thank God for Kaley- if not for her comedic timing, this would have been lost from the get-go.
Messina is trying, oh lord is he trying, but his timing is just, sort of, off.....he's not bad, but he did get better through the episode so there is hope.
The serial killer character is actually pretty good- he's actually likable and has a charm about him that's unmistakable. He plays the part well, seems to settle into the character with an air of confidence that's somewhat unsettling, that he's felt this psychopathy before.
The rest of the cast? Irritating, grating, obnoxious. Yes, we get that LA is filled with narcissistic megalomaniacs but every singe ancillary character? As an example, every single one of Ava's friends are having an affair? I get it could say something about Ava's character, but I don't feel like the writers are that deep. Or that there's people from out of state moving INTO California? Not likely. Pretty much anyone with the ability is fleeing in droves, so it's odd. The sister who can't seem to not be cloying and completely unhinged? Does every single character that's not the main characters have to be so pretentious and hateful? They're enough to derail this show.
Overall it's a 5; not great but not horrible, we'll give it another episode before making any decisions.
