The very popular online political and entertainment show, The Young Turks, initiated their first annual Arm Wrestling tournament as a clever way to introduce their growing family of co-hosts and behind-the-scenes crew.
In this webisode (as seen in their TYT Sports channel) Ana Kasparian (an Armenian co-host of TYT and TYT University) wrestles Irina Nichita (a Romanian graphics art designer for several TYT programs and Ana's assistant) in the women's bracket.
This event was heavily hyped and highly anticipated by numerous online personalities and amongst their internal employees. Prior to the event Ana professed to having a strong will and made note she could beat anyone in her bracket. Although the strikingly attractive and tall blonde Irina continued to claim she was not strong and that she would lose most continued to feel Irina was the favorite due to her athletic build. In an earlier TYT program it was shown that Ana could not beat the grotesquely obese Cenk Uygur, the TYT host, in a trivial running contest leaving a permanent scar that Ana was not athletic at all.
When the match began Ana immediately tried to take Irina with a sudden burst, but Irina countered easily. It was clear Irina was much stronger. However, in a somewhat surprising turn of events Irina then said "It's too hard...i give up" and released all tension from her arm, allowing Ana to go for the kill. Ana was declared the winner.
Ana was very surprised and also admitted that she had no chance after she felt how much stronger Irina was when it started. And went on to say she was perplexed by Irina's lack of effort to finish her off. Ana didn't dwell too much because it was clear she was just happy to have the win.
It was later surmised in post-games by other staff members that Irina must have purposely given up because she felt she didn't want to beat Ana, her boss, when Ana seemed much more emotionally invested in winning this hyped event. Ana was not made aware of this.
For most viewers this event was a let down not just because of its brevity but because Irina Nichita is considered one of the most attractive and most requested TYT staff members for more screen time but she admitted in a post-game she is very camera shy and prefers to be behind-the-camera at all times.
