Sweet and Entertaining

An Italian father is tasked to prepare a Kosher dinner for his son's girlfriend and her mother. Misunderstandings and cultural passions seem to be steering the entire event down the wrong road.

This was a really entertaining, albeit short, slice of life piece of work. I'm not a fan of 'uncomfortable moments' movies, and based on the log-line that's what I was expecting. But my expectations were off-the-mark: this is a cool little 9-minute film with realistic characters, none of whom were portrayed stereotypically - which would have been the easy route and ruined the entire work.

I was willingly drawn along for the entire journey and looked forward to finding out how everything went for each of the four main characters.

If this is the baseline for what the filmmakers can do, I'm going to keep an eye out for their other releases.

A Italian father. And the date of his son with a Jewish girl. The effort to be all perfect. And the nice result of the clash between the two cultures. A seductive film about disputes between generations, be nervous, Italian spirit and a Jewish mother seduced by her host. Spiced, colorful and just lovely film.
