"You scorned me, Kevin."
utgard1415 February 2014
The movie begins with a corny song over a laughable text message conversation so I knew right away this wasn't going to be something I would want to brag about seeing. The plot is about a complete psycho (AnnaLynne McCord) who discovers her boyfriend (Billy Zane) is cheating on her with her best friend (Viva Bianca). So she ties them both up and spends the bulk of the movie threatening and torturing them.

AnnaLynne McCord, with her horrible Southern accent and tacky hair extensions, offers up an extremely campy performance. You will undoubtedly spend most of the time viewing this laughing your ass off at her. She seems to especially enjoy using profanity like a child who has just discovered dirty words. She's really the whole show here. Whether you find anything to like about this movie depends entirely upon how much you enjoy her bad acting. Well, whether it's bad or whether it's "so brilliant that you just think it's bad" is up to you to decide. I know which side of that I come down on.

Billy Zane, once a respectable actor, has become moviedom's biggest garbage man. He keeps appearing in trash and getting paid for it. Viva Bianca is the only reason I checked this out in the first place. She looks amazing, even with that terrible wig on. Sadly, she plays the whole thing straight like she believes she's in Fatal Attraction or Misery. Don't get me wrong -- her acting isn't bad. It's fine, actually. It's just that opposite the scenery-chewing AnnaLynne McCord, she maybe should have tried to play the part a little more tongue-in-cheek. The script and direction did her no favors anyway. Director Mark Jones appears to have the same amount of talent as you would expect from your average Lifetime TV movie director. The story here is full of clichés and offers nothing to interest your average viewer, who has probably seen a version of this story done before and better. As a thriller, it's pretty weak. As an unintentional comedy, it's good for some laughs. Go into it with the right expectations and you might enjoy it.

Scorned but not forgiving
kapelusznik1814 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILERS**** A movie about brutal ravage as well as manipulation by this psycho Sadie, AnnaLynne McCord, whom her cheating boyfriend Kevin played by Billy Zane, sporting a Marlon Brando like " Apocalypse Now" style haircut, whom she discovers through his twitter account is planning to dump her for her best friend Jennifer, Viva Bianca. Not being that wrapped tight to begin with, Sadie spent the last 10 years in mental hospital for drowning her kid sister, Sadie now plans to get even with Kevin & Jennifer in the most brutal and sadistic way imaginable! With Kevin inviting Sadie to spend the night with him at his country estate, he seems to be very well taken care of financially, he then plans to lays the news on her about leaving her for Jennifer as smoothly as possible.

Not knowing what Sadie knows and plans for him as well as his new found girlfriend, Sadie's best friend, Jennifer Kevin is taken by complete surprise in getting stoned and finding himself tied up in bed and totally helpless. Things get really hot when Jennifer shows up thinking she'll leave for Europe with that gorgeous hunk of a man, all 280 pounds of him, Kevin who also ends up being held hostage and tortured by Sadie. It' s then that things get real hairy with Sadie literally putting the screws on the two lovebirds and getting a real kick out of it.

***SPOILERS*** As vicious and brutal as Sadie is she's also extremely lucky as well. During the entire movie no one excepts her victims has a clue to what she's up to and what she's doing. She escapes by the skin of her teeth in being caught by the police when stopped by them to see if she's harboring an escaped lunatic, Doug Drucker, a battered & bloody Jennifer whom Sadie though that she already murdered suddenly pops out of the bushes to tell them what she did to her and Kevin! It's then on cue a truck come out of the darkness and runs her down and crushes her to death before she can open her mouth! As for Kevin he gets his while trying to hobble to safety, after Sadie busted his ankle, in his motor boat only to get killed in a life and death struggle with Sadie by its propellers! Making as if she's the victim in her being kidnapped and raped by the escaped lunatic Drucker, whom she also murdered, Sadie gets a clean bill of health from the clueless police! And as we later see at the end of the movie, after recovering from her wounds, she's back in business again!

It's a dark comedy!
BA_Harrison27 August 2014
Rich love-rat Kevin (Billy Zane) cheats on his girlfriend Sadie (AnnaLynne McCord) with her sexy BFF Jennifer (Viva Bianca). When Sadie rumbles the infidelity (after finding saucy text messages on Kevin's cellphone) she decides to teach the naughty pair a lesson they won't forget.

Halfway through Scorned and I was about to write the film off as a total failure, when I suddenly realised that the ridiculous script and overblown performances were intentional: I was actually watching a dark comedy! I guess the fact that I couldn't discern the film's intended nature for quite some time still makes it something of a failure, but after my epiphany, the rest of the movie proved far more bearable, with AnnaLynne McCord's performance being a master-class in OTT cinematic craziness.

With Sadie prancing around in her panties, sexy Jennifer showing us exactly how she managed to turn Kevin's head, some reasonably sadistic violence (including a nasty hobbling scene inspired by Misery), and the hilarious sight of an escaped convict, tattooed over his entire face, thumbing a lift in the rain, Scorned actually proved to be a reasonably fun way to waste some time. While not the finest title on Billy Zane's filmography, it's not the biggest embarrassment on it either (there are so many to choose from).

A Showcase of Acting, But Not Much Else
gavin69423 February 2014
A romantic weekend turns horrific and sadistic when Sadie (AnnaLynne McCord)discovers her boyfriend (Billy Zane) is having an affair with her best friend (Viva Bianca).

If you are looking for a film about a kidnapper who tortures her victims for perceived wrongdoing, you will be better off with "Misery" (referenced here) or "Death and the Maiden". Despite a decent cast (I never tire of seeing Billy Zane), this plot is just not all that special and comes across as disposable -- despite a strange subplot / twist relating to a nearby prison...

In fact, this film probably deserves a 3 out of 10, but I cannot bring myself to do that because of one thing: AnnaLynne McCord. I loved her in "Excision", and now she has returned better than before. Some people do a good job playing crazy, and some (Jack Nicholson) are born for it. McCord may be in this category. A terrible film, yes, but an Oscar-worthy performance. If she gets the right roles, we may not have seen the last of her yet...

In all fairness. If the acting was bad. This would be utter rubbish.
TomShortell5 February 2014
I recently watched this with my girlfriend and the scenario intrigued us both as I myself like the idea of having the character you are fond of have the higher power. The hit back techniques against the people who have done unforgivable things to us where great and some bits made me giggle. Unsure why.

The script was absolutely terrible I thought. Anyone can write this. There's no significant meanings behind anything here. Surely there could of been a rewrite because I wanted to turn the film off in the first 10 minutes.

AnnaLynne McCord is what the film had spot on for itself. She is outstanding and she really has a sublime career in her reach. She just needs the people to work to have more experience to adapt to her incapable emotional rollercoasters that she can portray so easily. She deserves a lot from this but the other actors have very few opportunities ahead of them. Ill give this a 5 because of AnnaLynne McCord. 5/10.

Wot?
begob15 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Agree with the most of the reviewers - McCord is an interesting actor, but this is terrible.

It has to be the screenplay. The pace is so completely off that I wanted to give up halfway through. The bondage and electrocuting were unbelievable, the prisoners were moved around like dolls, the girl got to put on more and more clothes, their escape attempts were laughable, and some random convict was dropped in to pad out the plot. Finally the back story made a nonsense of the relationship between the two girls. Almost porn-feature quality.

Toward the end it developed a sense of purpose and humour, but even then the writers didn't bother to make it plausible.

Only marks are for McCord.

Scorned is a wonderful dark comedy
linewrench12 February 2014
Mark Jones (Leprechaun) & Sadie Katz (House of Bad) have put together a really fun dark comedy.

The premise is simple, a pair of love birds head out for a romantic weekend but the plans are derailed when the boyfriend(Billy Zane) is found out to be a cheater. The girlfriend (AnnaLynne McCord) learns of the situation and becomes unglued and then the fun begins.

Many of Mark Jones films feature malevolent midget monsters but with Scorned Jones & Katz have created the monster girlfriend that every man should rightfully fear.

The movie is worth seeing just to watch AnnaLynne McCord (90210, Dallas) ratchet up the crazy!!!

Horrifically bad
Robogirl8726 April 2021
I understand this is 'meant' to be some kind of dark comedy, but it's really just ridiculous. The acting is terrible, the story, if you can call it that, is terrible. It's trying desperately to be something it's not. I can only say Billy Zane must be in debt or something for agreeing to be in this trash.

Excellent performance from AnnaLynne McCord and a reason to watch the movie
Boristhemoggy16 November 2014
I've never seen AnnaLynne McCord in anything before, I watched this film because Billy Zane was in it and he was solid in Dead Calm and Titanic.

The beginning put me off because of the unannounced text messages that were confusing for a second.

The plot is tired and inconsistent, the scenes totally unbelievable and the content is clichéd and cheesy: scorned girlfriend tortures and kills her boyfriend for cheating on her with her best friend.

However right from the moment she comes on screen AnnaLynne McCord rocks this movie all by herself. Viva Bianca is typical B movie stuff, Billy Zane is absolutely appalling barely even scraping B actor status in this, but McCord is A rated throughout, in every scene, despite having awful dialogue and poor direction in scenes.

She makes this movie totally hers and outclasses everyone else, and the score on this review is really for her alone. I recommend this movie simply for those who enjoy great acting, but only for McCord.

Did anyone else notice the dead prisoners eyes move at the end of the movie? They should have caught that in editing. It happens right before she crushes her hand in the vice.

McCord's best movie
capelladewdrop28 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
AnneLynne does a great job at playing the twisted psychologically deranged girl in whatever movie she appears in and this movie is no exception. One minute she's all the sweet and flirty southern girl stereotype the next minute she's a deranged killer, a woman scorned.

There was nothing really bad I can say about this movie and the people who don't like it are probably male and don't like it because it has such a strong female lead. Notice how all the reviewers who are writing this off as a comedy are male. Women have feelings.

As a horror movie fan I felt like Sadie was a character and found myself cheering for her at some points. The victims were just typical selfish middle class people. I didn't feel sorry for them at all. One scene that was probably way over the top was the puppy in the microwave scene. Like Sadie said herself it was hardly his fault all this had happened.

Is scorned nicely adorned?
hitchcockthelegend19 October 2014
Directed and co-written by Mark Jones, Scorned adds nothing new to a well worn sub-genre of horror, that of the vengeful female unleashing hell after becoming victim to infidelity etc. Approaching this with any sort of hope for a bar raiser will only induce a crushing disappointment, but if able to accept it on its formulaic terms then it's a good torture porn time waster.

Plot finds AnnaLynne McCord as the woman scorned, her beau, played by Billy Zane, has been cheating on her with her best friend, Viva Bianca. Caught out by incriminating text messages, she lures the cheaters to an idyllic retreat and subsequently tortures them at will. The narrative drip feeds a troubled childhood angle into the mix, while there's some twists and turns to keep things lively in the final third. Tech credits are more than adequate, while performances from the three principles also scrub up nicely for the material to hand. 6.5/10

This is a joke! so predictable, poor acting and obviously low budget. I am so surprised why Billy Zane chose to be a part of the cast!

Quite disappointed..
Fr0zenMunky1 February 2014
So I don't want to rant too much about this movie, for fear for spoiling it for other people, but I would like to review it before losing my train of thought lol. Normally I would roll my eyes at the thoughts of another revenge slasher, but considering how pleasantly surprised I was with anna- lynne's last horror 'excision', I thought I'd give this a fair chance. Don't get me wrong, excision is not for the faint of heart, but it's so odd and so well thought, that I couldn't help but like it. It was great to see an actress who is fresh out of 90210, help give a name to slightly 'out-of-sorts' horror movies. Unfortunately I can't say the same about this movie, as much as I was looking toward to it, the disappointment was unavoidable. Aside from the main couple, the acting was terrible, along with the low- budget gore and special effects. The plot of very unrealistic, getting worse as it went on and along with the terrible camera work, it was almost unwatchable at times.

I tried to like this movie, tried and failed. If your thinking of watching this movie because you like anna-lynne, in-particular horrors with anna-lynne, I wouldn't waste your time. It's low budget nonsense, so much lower than her capabilities.

Tiresome
phd_travel26 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This little Misery update (2 victims instead of 1) could have been better done.

Firstly launching straight into the misery stage wasn't right. It would have been better to build things up from the normal then show how things disintegrate. Instead there is too much of the "torture" and it loses impact after a while.

What's more shocking than all the "torture" is what happened to Billy Zane. Why did he let himself go like Val Kilmer? Annalynne McCord does as well as she could have with this material. The friend looked a bit bored.

There is a little twist at the end but it feels a bit lame. Overall it feels a bit tiresome and not worth the effort.

Funny Makes it Kinda Good
Montayj17 June 2019
The acting is not so great, not at all, not by a long shot, like C or D-List acting, but the movie is so funny that it's impossible not to watch and enjoy. Storyline could have been much, much deeper, with better background and build-up, but I mean, you just can't help stay glued.

Terrible. I feel my life was scorned after this mess
Lotusflower11128 August 2020
Horrible soundtrack. I kept on thinking this has to be voice of the daughter of a higher powered person involved in this film. Then the acting. Weird, messy, nothing made sense. The dog was the best actor in this movie. Terrible from beginning to end (end for me was minute 20). Disgrace of performance, directing, lighting, scenes, even the tacos looked like a horrific prop. Don't watch this. Avoid. To think I paid 1.99 fir this piece of waste of life. NO. RUN. WAtch cartoons, read a menu. Anything but this ridicule.

I Liked It
basileos18 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching this film, and came here to see what others thought of it. I'm actually surprised not many liked it. For sure there were some major plot holes, but I always lean toward the philosophy of suspension of disbelief when I spot these errors, especially in horror films. So story wise, I do agree with the other commentators that the script could have used a good polish by just about anyone who has read a book.

But I do have to recommend the movie for the acting of the lead actress. I have never seen Anna Lynn McCord in anything, so had no idea if she was any good. Turns out she was good. She plays scary psycho fairly well, but not enough for the role to become iconic like Glenn Close as Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction. But she is young and will probably be able to deliver some sort of outstanding performance in the future. Anyway I gave it 6/10, but that was mostly because of McCord.

AnnaLynne McCord, You Rock!!!!!
haywiresbayb25 November 2014
Forget what the haters say. I love this movie. AnnaLynne McCord gave a great performance in Scorned and i personally think she deserves an Oscar. She was funny, dark and very entertaining. AnnaLynne McCord is definitely an actress with a bright career ahead of her.

Billy Zane did a great job in "Demon Kight" and "Only You" but there isn't much to say about his performance in Scorned. His character was just there like a lifeless corpse.

Viva Bianca, she was in the movie too but it didn't make a difference if she was or not because AnnaLynne McCord totally stole the show.

I told my mom to watch this movie and she really enjoyed it. I totally recommend this movie. Go watch it NOW!!!

Surprisingly good darkly comic thriller
MattyGibbs19 October 2014
Ten minutes into Scorned I was pretty confident this would be truly awful however to my surprise it actually ends up being a slightly sick, highly ridiculous but enjoyable thriller.

Scorned doesn't waste much time in setting the scene as Billy Zane and his mistress find out that Annalynn McCord is not a woman who takes being cheated on very well. McCord is excellent in this and really carries the film as the nutty scorned woman who gleefully carries out her own brand of revenge. If you have a weak stomach then you had best avoid this one.

If this film had taken itself seriously then it just wouldn't have worked but it's all so obviously tongue in cheek that it exudes it's own surprising charm.

This is a surprisingly good film and one that entertains throughout, well after the ropey first ten minutes anyway. A much better film than it's current rating of 4.5 would suggest.

Life With the Marquise de Sadie
lavatch8 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
On this website, "Scorned" is listed under the tripartite heading of comedy-crime-horror. The best match is the horror genre. There is also a seemingly endless spate of crimes committed. But the comedy portion of the film is difficult to discern even at the darkest level of dark comedy.

The film's title derives from the scorn felt by a woman named Sadie who learns that her boyfriend, Kevin, is sleeping with her best friend, Jennifer. Sadie improvises a ghoulish revenge scheme on both her boyfriend and her best friend. When Jennifer arrives at the home of Kevin and Sadie, she is invited to "follow the rose petals,' along with her little dog named Bootsie. Little does Jennifer realize what lies ahead along the road strewn with the petals.

The actress playing Sadie creates a character worthy of her namesake, the infamous Marquis de Sade. But the main problem with the film was the excessive violence in Sadie's sadistic acts of torture. It was far too gruesome to extract teeth, place a hand in a vice, and use electric shock on the eyes of her victims. It is odd that the filmmakers would not rein in the long string of acts of revenge. After a while, this film became nauseating, due to the violence.

The defining moment of "Scorn" occurs when an hardened criminal escapes from the local prison and is walking in the vicinity of the home of Sadie while she is torturing her victims. In the film credits, the convict is known only as "Scary Guy." While hitchhiking, the man is picked up by Sadie. At that moment, the viewer has great sympathy for one of the characters who is unaware of a portending doom. And the character for whom we feel sorry is the Scary Guy.

Worst ever
rohit_vit202010 March 2014
SCORNED is no thriller. Just on one particular event, they make the film psycho kind. That is very childish in nature.. And it is no way a horror at all. It shows the psycho girl traps her boyfriend, and her one of her friends in the home of his boyfriend. There could be n number of ways by which they could have easily escaped, but it is all damn imagination, that they could never escape, they even did not try harder in doing it.. That's bullshit I rate this movie 1(Awful).. Never watch, I wasted watching it.. The Story initially tempted to watch, but it was worthless expense of money and time.

Guys if u really want a good psycho movie, go and watch "Misery". The all time hit. You will like it.

This could have been a better movie so easily.
face-819-93372614 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Decent little Anchor Bay movie with some twists, and a nicely unfolding story line. Billy Zane plays what appears to be mostly himself, and the little lost girl from Degrassi is truly all grown up now. The overall story is good, and most of the acting is good enough, the main plot is unfolded for you really nicely like I said, but there are a lot of big holes in the actual reality of this little movie that some of them just break the movie. I won't get too much into that I am reviewing the movie, not summarizing it, but a rich man would know how to press the emergency button on his alarm panel on any one of a number of occasions. So my overall impression of this film is that of a scattered mess that could have been a nice psycho woman scorned story, and I didn't Enjoy most of it because of the holes that would just never be. I don't really recommend this movie, sorry, but it is not actually good enough for that.
