In the Final Scene Jimmy is drinking from a coffee mug which reads "Tommy". Thomas is Whitey's real first name, foreshadowing what's about to happen.

The film is based on a true story, told to the father of Tony Kelly. A friend of his who owns a car dealership had an old man coming in every couple of days telling him he had seen notorious criminal Whitey Bolger delivering furniture and that he'd reported it and he'd use the reward money to buy a new car from him. Shortly thereafter the real Whitey Bolger was caught in LA and the delivery man had disappeared and the old man felt he'd been the victim of a conspiracy.
